I hope you're all enjoying your stay on Fantasy Island as much as I am. I still haven't gotten my wish for the largest whirlpool bathtub and all the chili dogs I can eat. I'm hanging in there but I'm starting to lose my patience.

Got some questions and having them answered would really boost my mood.
How high does the tech run here?
Who else is kind of freaked out by the locals?

What a sheltered life you must have lead.

They're as close to human as you can get without crossing the line into monsters. If you're 'freaked out' by anything, it should be the fact that everyone here seems to assume we're dead.

Unless you aren't even remotely human.

Then there are far worse things to be concerned by than skin tint or otherwise.

Thousands. The kedan are hardly unusual in comparison to some of the things that crawl out from under the earth.

On a turtle, I'd expect something less pleasant than earthworms.

Considering that I don't remember how I got here, yes, that does concern me somewhat. I have no intention of dying. The suggestion that I might have in order to get here is a disquieting one.

Not yet.

Better an Emperor than a council or a democracy. At least this way, we're well aware of who's to blame for all of this.

One target is easier to plot against but more heavily guarded. Multiple are more easily replaced but gain sway more slowly. Personally, I like knowing one target over many.

You're the one who used the word 'targets'.

Dream away. Having a watchful eye on the so-called authority is hardly something I'm about to judge you for.

Unlike some, I'm not paranoid enough to think that I'll be singled out by the police force for making mention of dissent. We are unexpected guests, after all. Unrest is a given.

But you know a lot of Emperors at all?

He hardly counts.

Normally I'd tell you to learn real history, but I doubt a turtle has had anywhere near as much as I'd suggest you read. Or the correct history itself, either.

Nonetheless, we haven't been immediately forced into subservience; if this Emperor is so keen on maintaining an iron fist, you'd think we'd already be under lock and key, rather than handed rather suitable amenities.

His conquest was admirable, but he lost it within his own lifetime. Emperors should have at least that much longevity.

Then the solution is to avoid making a mess. Conversing with other unsettled guests shouldn't put them on edge unless they're as paranoid as, it seems, you are.
