First Guitar Solo - Eddie Riggs [Video]

I'd ask if this was some kind of weird dream, but, kinda doubt that since my dreams don't get this fuckin' elaborate. Alongside the fact it isn't the first time I woke up some place different after dyin'. Is this gonna be a fuckin' trend in my life or what? What next, a land made of ice cream or some shit?

But, yeah, [He rubs the back of his neck thoughtfully. His expression serious before he summons a smile.] kinda not the point of this post, I'm wondering if anyone can give me an actual fuckin' rundown on this place? I got some shit from those- weird guys who picked me up, but, I dunno what to believe and what not to believe.

Far as I know now, havin' runnin' water is fuckin' fantastic, holy shit. Electricity- I didn't know how much I missed this shit until I woke up here. [He laughs easily at the thought.]

I'm Eddie by the way, s'nice to meet whoever replies to this weird fuckin' thing.

[Eddie is less enthused for Ophelia's BRILLIANT plan of murder.] Lemme guess more dyin'? Don't mind if I say dyin' twice is enough for me.

[He peers back at her, unsure what to say to her demand. The truth most obviously.] I won actually. Decapitated Doviculus, I just drowned in the sea tryin' to save your scrawny ass. I couldn't get us both to the surface in time.

C'mon, Eddie, don't you want to beat my score?

[the idea of him decapitating doviculus actually makes her laugh, because - well. the guy did kill her the second time. she's not overfond of him, so hearing that he got his due is probably the only good news eddie could bring her.

she's also laughing at the idea of him drowning while trying to save her. OH EDDIE, YOU ARE HILAR]

I think you were a little late getting to that, so you deserved what you got. Well, really, you deserve worse, but hey, can't have everything.

Naw, I think I'll pass. Can't beat the master after all.

[The laughter just makes him wrinkle his nose a little. ~~AT LEAST SOMEONE IS HAPPY HERE.~~]

Wouldn't say that late- saw you lookin' like you did before down there. [He shrugs a little, a tense roll of his shoulders. The rough quality of his voice and brief touch of a frown curling across his lips.] Yeah, I'll keep that in mind next time I see your ass in peril.

[she snorts, the actually-amused smile dropping off in an instant.]

Don't delude yourself. I was never in peril, and even if I had been, you never cared about it.

[she ignores the mention of her at the bottom of the sea. she assumes it was the oxygen shortage as he drowned that made him see that; there's no way she's still down there, unless what he saw was what little remained of her rotting corpse ... ]

You were pretty in peril, you know, the whole heart ripped out thing. Seems kinda dead. [He digs around his jacket, pulling out a black stained necklace.] I figured out how to care a bit on the late side. Doviculus couldn't pass up pouring salt over the wounds. I helpfully hit him with an axe a few times to clear up any misunderstandin'.

I ain't about to ask for your forgiveness, I know that isn't gonna happen. Like, fuckin' ever. I can guess that much. I'll say my piece and let you continue being- blue and angry.

That wasn't peril, dumbass, and you wouldn't have stopped him if he'd threatened to do it first.

[the necklace makes her grit her teeth in fury. it's a symbol of all the destruction he wrought on her. the betrayal. she tries to keep icy composure up in place of outright anger.]

And you'll feel better? Like you've gotten the guilt off your shoulders and you can go on living freely? I don't think so, Eddie.

[Why hello more familiar anger, been awhile. Eddie is wise enough to tuck it away.] Considerin' we had a score to settle, yeah, I would have at least fuckin' tried.

No, I wanted to say my damn piece since you aren't gonna leave me alone after this until I'm dead. I know you, Ophelia. I know you.

You know me? Really. You sure knew me well enough before, and look how that ended up. Dying didn't make me easier to understand, didn't take away all my secrets. If there's any knowing going on here, it's on my side. I know you, Riggs, and that's going to be your downfall here.

[she pauses. that was angrier than she'd wanted it to be, and she shuts her eyes to try and take a few seconds to calm herself down. it doesn't work very well.]

You killed all my weaknesses. But all of yours? Still fair game.

What, you're gonna do a light soft shoe on my grave or somethin'?

[She's rewarded with a glare from the roadie. This certainly more familiar territory for the two of them.] I was pissed at you since you didn't tell me a secret. You kept this big fuckin' thing from me. I trusted you. You trusted me and we both fucked each other over.

Your current weakness now is being so focused on revenge. So, yeah, I know your weakness, Ophelia.

[her smile is thin, hollow, and brittle. there's an air of superiority about her now.]

So, me walking up to you as we rode down to face Lionwhyte and spilling the secret even your own father never told you wouldn't have made you throw me out on my ass in exactly the same way? Thinking I was some kind of liar or trying to plant the seeds of insurrection in Ironheade? You think so highly of yourself, Eddie. Of everyone in that little army of yours.

Being focused on revenge isn't a weakness, Eddie, it's a strength. If you want so much as a chance at being able to beat me, you're going to need to pick up the slack again.

Tellin' me like a god damn mature adult instead of going 'oh no I can't!' would have been preferable to me chuckin' your ass out when we were all freakin' out over Lars. I really fuckin' trusted you, I would have had some fuckin' inclination to listen to you considerin' I was crazy over you.

I don't know how they would have reacted, I'm talkin' us talkin' alone damn it, not you going 'LALALALA LET ME ANNOUNCE THIS SHIT IN FRONT OF EVERYONE LIKE A DIPSHIT'. You're- were, are, whatever- smart. We could have thought on somethin'!

[He just covers his face with his hands, giving an irritated sound back.] What-the-fuck-ever, Ophelia.

Lars was dead. Did you expect me to be thinking straight? He was the one person I trusted before you came along, and you didn't even have the decency to give me time. And what if I'd told you then, anyway? Lita would have gutted us both.

Or you would have just left me there anyway, or put your axe in me yourself. Like I said - I know you. Better than you could ever know me.

[she's not even looking at the monitor anymore - she's glaring off to the side, out a window in the darkness of her suite. she doesn't want to see him being anything but dead right now.]

Oh and me thinkin' straight would have been possible then too? It goes both ways, Ophelia. He was our friend, we both weren't exactly thinkin' right. Yeah, you got me there. I can give you that. I should have given you time, but I didn't. If she tried, I could have done somethin', I stopped her from the initial attempt to gut you like a fuckin' fish.

I'm pissed because you had time, so much fuckin' time. You figured it out- made that stupid excuse about venom up to cover my ass. You could have pulled me aside in private. I trusted you then. I was crazy in love with you, like off my fuckin' rocker willin' to just kiss you senseless every time you smiled at me.

[He's just giving her a cold look, torn between being frustrated and sad.] We would have both been kicked out. Sure as shit would have changed things.

[she lashes out without thinking, sneering at the camera again, a fist curled in an attack position. too bad there's only a monitor to smash, and if she does that, she'll have to get it fixed. a pain, she assumes.]

Maybe it would have changed things. But you would have lost in the end. You and me against the whole human army and an entire demon empire? We'd both be dead. More dead than this. But hey, as long as we were together, right?

[she's throwing aside his logic in the face of her own anger and desire to keep the hate between them going. don't think about what could have been - only plow on forward, make sure this hate never ends.]

[Her lashing out already sets Eddie on the defensive. Distance and screens between them be damned, he's already moving to grab his axe. It taking a moment to remember she isn't here. He lets out a breath, tension going still there even as he relaxes back into his chair.]

Like I haven't lost already, Ophelia? You seem to forget you are-were fuckin' important to me. [Eddie isn't feeding the anger, not yet. He's more ambivalent over anything else.] Feels like a fuckin' loss to me, especially when you're so set on killin' me.

Yeah, well ...

[the fact that he keeps ... agreeing with her, basically, is throwing her off. she's still furious, still hates him, but she was expecting him to try and hunt her down with his axe drawn, not ... try to come to terms with things.

it's bizarre, and that's making her even angrier. better than being confused, anyway.]

Like you have anybody to blame but yourself for all that. And - weren't you pretty dead-set on killing me, right up until someone beat you to the punch? Fair's fair.

[Eddie needs to stop throwing these strange curveballs Ophelia's way.]

Yeah, cause I was fuckin' pissed at you. I was mad I couldn't change shit, mad at you for attackin' and not leavin' shit alone. We're both at fault by this fuckin' point, Ophelia.

[yes he does. she can't hold all these bizarre not-loathings.]

I'm still holding you accountable - for most of it, anyway. Don't think that realizing your mistakes is going to get you back on my good side. It just makes your own inevitable death a little less painless.

[admitting to it at all is making her want to scream. instead she just puts her fingers back on the keyboard, fixing eddie with an icy glare.]

Anything else? Because I have things to do, here. And I'd rather not let you take up any more of my time, unless you're going to spontaneously combust.

Like I said, I wasn't expectin' you to start fartin' rainbows and suddenly forgivin' me here. [He's just going to keep frowning, it's the best he can really do about now.] Oh, thanks. I appreciate it.

Oh, I'll release you then. Cause god forbid I take up your precious murder time.

[she just glares at him for that. yes, her murder time is very precious, so stop not being murdered while she's using it.

ophelia disconnects the video feed a little more harshly than she intends, possibly breaking something in the keyboard while she does so.]
