OOC:
[The feed comes on and there is Yorda and China Sorrows. The former looks a bit apprehensive and the latter about as pleasantly inscrutable as ever.]
Hello. There is something important that we have to tell you.
We have seen what the cultists have done to the other kedan. They are able to make stones that contain their lives, and pushed them beyond Death and Dreaming. All doors open both ways and they have crossed into the places we came from.
This is something they have hoped to do, something ordered of them. We have seen this.
[She looks to China, hoping that this is correct. China inclines her head briefly, indulgent, and takes over.]
Suffice to say that while something seems to have gone awry with their experiments, the goal appears to have been moving kedan across planes. While it hasn't been done again, our information implies that those who have gone have not come back, and I doubt they plan to abandon their goal.
I shouldn't have to tell any of you that this is a problem. As much as it goes against my nature to suggest the free trade of information, it may be beneficial to pool knowledge and resources to see if there isn't something to be done about cultists toying with lives and planes as they please.
[Yorda gives a small nod of agreement.]
...For the Kedan whose friends have gone missing... I am sorry this has happened to you.
- Grey - Yorda
- Blue - China

->action?
[China has the other responders to see to, after all. Tomorrow morning she'll be ready enough to receive Valdis, and even have the tea she half-promised ready.]
Re: ->action?

[She smiles at the other woman, though.]
There you are, my dear. Won't you come in?
[She stands aside from the door, leads Valdis back into her sitting room. The tea, despite that it has already been made, is still perfectly hot in the teapot, thanks to China's use of sigilwork, though she did debate letting it get cold.]
no subject
Thank you, China, for the invitation.
[Valdis follows her inside to the sitting room, the place is exactly as she remembers it.]
I expect you wish to collect the price on the bargain we made so long ago?
no subject
[China pours tea, even going so far as to pour and offer a cup to Valdis first, perfectly mannered.]
Tell me what you know about Indin. If you can fill something in that I don't know, I'll count it as a question.
She's involved, of course.
[Which China is not informing the turtle at large.]
no subject
Indin is the one who led me to those addresses that I asked you to look into. You know, the ones that led you to a spy ring?
[Her voice is perfectly pleasant, no sign of any malcontent regarding the matter.]
She also, indirectly led me to the clues that revealed Milyn as a former cultist. She works with Daseng, seems to adore him as much as Milyn does.
no subject
[China takes a sip of her tea, sets it down, and laces her fingers together in her lap.]
I'm more interested in her character. Things beside her deeds.
She seems to be having doubts, you see.
no subject
She's a child, and a lost one at that. Kind-hearted, but dangerously misled. Not unlike Milyn in a way, except without the foul deeds behind her and the pride to blind her to them.
[Doubts though...that was encouraging, because it meant that Indin was still alive.]
no subject
[China considers, tilts her head a fraction.]
It shouldn't surprise you to know I didn't reveal everything to the city at large. Yorda and I witnessed her disagreement with her immediate supervisor, at the office your information pointed me to.
no subject
[She crosses one leg over the other, seemingly deep in thought, though really she was just making China wait a bit before continuing.]
Did you happen to overhear the subject of this disagreement? Or does Yorda's magic not cover sound?
no subject
[Two can play at that game, but this is business.]
The soul gems, and the experiments on them. Some practices were contradictory to what she'd previously believed.
She seemed quite upset that the kedan linked to gems were gone.
no subject
At least she's alive.
[Then she looks at China, eyes narrowed.]
Why tell me this?
no subject
[In contrast to Valdis' suspicious gaze, China smiles.]
And you know how to be circumspect.
[Put plainly, it's useful for Valdis to know.]
no subject
[In fact, Valdis had given the girl a somewhat aggressive message to take to Daseng.]
What makes you think I can exert any leverage?
[China's calm demeanor and subtle manipulations aside, Valdis was curious as to why China seemed to want to ally with her over this matter.]
no subject
[China looks amused.]
I believe the mortals call it 'good cop, bad cop'?
[Obviously China is the good cop here, which is, for other reasons, hilarious.]
no subject
Funny, usually for that to work you actually need a 'good cop'.
no subject
I have certain advantages which will work just as well, my dear.
no subject
[Not that she has a problem with them, not really. They seem to be quite useful. Imagine what she could have gotten out of Yunxu if she could do what China could.]
How do you propose we find the girl?
no subject
They're quite helpful.
I have someone looking for her. Payment on delivery, naturally. You're welcome to try to beat him to it.
I'm happy to point you in the direction of the cultists regardless, of course.
[Free of charge only because Valdis wreaking havoc among them promises to be an excellent application of chaos, for a change.]
no subject
I'd be ever so grateful for any information on the cultists.
[She'll think about your challenge to find Indun.]
no subject
They've gone a little to ground, naturally, but here.
[What China offers Valdis is a short list of recorded movements. It isn't much, but it's all she's observed. More recently, it comes up short.]
If you're inclined to keep tracking them down, of course, that would be useful.
no subject
I'll see what I can do.
no subject
Do keep in touch, my dear.
Shall we catch up on gossip, while you're here?
[She is probably kidding?]
no subject
Unfortunately, I need to be on way. Perhaps another time?
no subject
Of course, darling. It's been too long since we talked.
