So it looks like I'm going to need to get a job pretty soon. [Danny makes a face at the idea. His only job experience was the time he subbed for Val as the mascot at the local fast food place. It was miserable. ]

Anyone got any ideas? I'm kind of stumped.

[The only job he actually had experience with was ghost-fighting. But he was almost certain that half-ghost part-time ghost-fighting vigilante didn't belong on any resume ever.]

You wanna work at a cat cafe?

What's a cat cafe?

It's like a regular cafe, only there are cats there and people can play with them!

...well, just one so far. The others haven't shown up. But Mochi's here!

Wait, so it's like a restaurant and a cat shelter? At the same time?

Is that even legal?

What's your skill set like?

Nonexistent.

Well, they're not allowed in the kitchen! There haven't been any health inspector complaints...at least, not before we got here. And we only just got our first cat back.

Come on, there has to be something you're good at.

I don't think video games and bowling count.

Wait, you're running a cat business with only one cat?

Well...there used to be more before I came here, but since Mochi showed up, I think some of the other cats will, too.

Huh. Do cats travel in groups like that?

[Guess who'd never been up close with a cat in his life? Apart from that time he'd nearly been mauled by a ghost tiger. ]

Um...not usually? But who knows, I mean, the Dreaming does some weird stuff.

No clue. I honestly don't know much about the dreaming.

[He was hoping it wasn't weirder than the ghost zone. So much. ]

So... if I worked there what would I be doing?

Um...a little bit of everything? We're really understaffed. [Meaning: Pretty much only Avery right now.]

Can you cook any? Or bake?

I can cook a little. Nothing fancy, but I know how to make stuff like, I don't know, grilled cheese sandwiches and pasta. [Jazz had made him learn so that he wouldn't starve when their parents were experimenting with ectoplasm based cooking. ]

[And something else occurs to him. ]

Oh, and I'm no expert, but I know my way around a toolbox. I used to help my parents work on the, um, vehicles and do stuff around the house. Things like installing doorknobs.

Hey, pasta's better than what I can do. I kinda live off of cup noodle and pizza. [Avery has been seriously hurting for pizza here.]

And that's great! Landry works - uh, worked, [and Avery looks a little distressed at that for a minute] on building stuff for the cats and fixing things around the cafe.

Have you found pizza anywhere here?

[I was cruel and unusual punishment, depriving teenagers from pizza. ]

Well, I don't know much about cats, but I wouldn't mind trying to figure something out.

Yeah! You can totally come by and meet Mochi if you want. He's kinda grumpy, but he's not mean.

I dunno, we might be able to build off that.

Looks like Avery's already pitched the cafe to you. That's where I'm going to try for work too. It looks pretty nice. I mean, there are worst place to work.

[PROBABLY. Like hell if he actually knows anything about that. ]

Yeah, I'm on the way over to check it out now. It really doesn't sound too bad. I mean, as far as a place to work goes.
