I am interested in power.
[...perhaps not the most reassuring of openings, but at least it was straight to the point?]
Training for the duration of time I have, both individually and with a mentor--[yes, she considers Kylo a 'mentor']--has allowed me to achieved a greater understanding of the concept. However, with that understanding has come...curiosity, if you will.
Many of those designated as Foreigners have shown signs of possessing unique abilities from a seemingly infinite number of sources. Some of these abilities are innate, while others appear to be borrowed through external means. I am curious about these abilities and their origins, if you are willing to oblige me with this information.
[Though her voice and tone appeared neutral throughout, it was clear from the look in her eyes that Aya was more than simply curious. She was looking for...something. Something which she would not explicitly say aloud.]
Thank you.

[And although it should have been an easy question to answer--she knew why, and there was nothing wrong with her reasoning--Aya hesitated all the same. Feeling like a child who had been caught with her hand in the proverbial cookie jar.]
...I am the only one of my kind. But I still wish to understand the true nature of my own powers and abilities.
[In other words, she was hoping that learning about others would help better learn about herself.]
Kylo Ren believes I have great potential. I do not want to disappoint him due to a lack of adequate understanding.

[Kylo wasn't worth the emotional trauma]
As long as you are not disappointed in yourself, that's all that matters.

[While this was more about her own feelings on the subject, yes, she still held him in high enough regards to consider his approval. Just as she had all the other influential figures in her (relatively young) life.]

[And Kylo Ren would probably never be satisfied, so pleasing him was a fools errand.]
Now, on the matter of power...You said you are the only one of your kind. So you have no one to compare your power to, is that what prompted your curiosity?
video
[Again, a near child-like perspective on the matter, but one that carried the weight of aforementioned experience. One of her happiest memories had been the moment Hal Jordan placed a hand on her shoulder and spoke words of pride at her successful actions. She'd like that feeling. Very much.]
That is my primary source of reasoning, yes. There is much about my own existence I do not know, including aspects which I would never have discovered without the aid of others.
Re: video
There are a great many things that others can help us discover about ourselves...but I still don't see how learning about the powers and abilities of others will help you find more about yourself.
video
[Because it was all she had, really.]
If you do not see the value in such a method...what would you suggest I do?
Re: video

However...may I ask what is so unique about that particular location to warrant such a recommendation?

Re: video
[Magic alone was not a sufficient explanation for her. She was a robot of science, and the more detailed an explanation she could get, the more comfortable she would feel with the decision.]

I've simply found that reaching serenity at that location is easier than in the city.

I see.
Though there is the possibility such an experience could be unique to your own person...it could not hurt to attempt myself.

I would appreciate the company. If you do not mind my complete stillness when in the process of meditating; I have been told in the past it can be disconcerting for some.

[Or at least she didn't think it would be a problem.]

In that case, I will be certain to contact you at my next time of convenience. It will have to be a time outside of my usual training sessions, as well as ongoing obligations at the laboratory.
