is this network the only way to contact people? what happened to telephones? or shining a signal in the sky? [ subtle. very subtle. He buffers it quickly: ] or even messenger pigeons?

Which time? There... have been a few things.

[Kyle's deep in thought for several minutes. He knows he'd be on Oa, so anything on Earth, he couldn't really have affected. He badly wants to know... but would he want to know and be helpless to change it?] Which parts can you tell me without it possibly affecting the timeline?

That's... a good question. You... probably don't know anything about what happened with Batman? Or the Black Lanterns?

Black Lanterns. [He trails off, and rubs his temple.

The Blackest Night will descend upon us all, without prejudice or mercy, or reason. The Seven Corps will fall.

But since Tim was still alive, the universe was still fine.] We won, right? [Beat.] What happened to Batman?

Yeah, we won. It was rough going, though. [He shrugged a little at Kyle's next question.] He got lost in time. [NBD, happens all the time.] Pretty much everyone thought he was dead.

[imaginate]

[Rough going. Kyle wondered how many more Lanterns he'd had to bury.] That hasn't happened to me yet. Any tips on dealing with them?

[He frowned.] They feed off emotions. I'd say try not to let them get you wound up, but... that might be hard.

[imaginate]

What do you mean? We make them stronger by feeling..?

[mrsarcastic003]

[Tim just looked at him.] Yes. Anger, love, grief... [He shrugged a shoulder and turned back to the console.] They wound people up until they were feeling about as much as they could feel, then ripped out their hearts.

...Creating more Black Lanterns. Like I said--it was a little rough.

[Seriously, Kyle. Zombies.]

[OOC: I think I have this right? It's been a while since I read Blackest Night.]

Sounds like it. [Kyle folds his arms across his chest and rubs his chin thoughtfully. The zombie parallel is one he's reaching himself.] Black rings, too?

Are there any Lantern Corps that don't use rings?

[Kyle gives Tim a curious look. They didn't always need rings - he'd been Ion for a reasonable length of time (twice) and it seemed weird that the Bats didn't know this.

But it was definitely possible, given what he'd heard about the seven Corps, so far, he hadn't met all of them.] Dunno.

[He shrugged again. He had a feeling he was missing something, but he wasn't quite sure what.] Me either--I'm not exactly an expert. [Wry grin.] But all the ones I saw had rings.

[More to himself than to Tim:] I wonder what they were powered by.

They were all... reanimated dead people, and they got more 'recruits' by killing people, so I'm going to go with probably not life.

[imaginate]

[Kyle is quiet for a long time, thinking.] Did they have power batteries?

Not that I saw.

[imaginate]

[Exhales.] Guess I'll just have to face that when it comes.

[It seems unlikely that Blackest Night was the cause of whatever Jason was worried about, but then again, Kyle doesn't know all the details.

Bruce "dying", on the other hand, hmm.]

[Have a bit of a wry grin.] Yeah, pretty much. I mean--what else can you do, right?

Wouldn't hurt to have a few details so it could go a little better. [Because there was always a cost.

But he shrugs lightly, and pulls up a chair so he can watch Tim work.]

From what I hear, we don't get to remember any of this when we wake up, so I'm not sure how much good me telling you anything will do, but... [He shrugs, too. He'd been happy to answer the questions he could. He glances over at him when he sits down.] I think I have things mostly set up.

Thanks. [He looks thoughtfully at the console.] That's just it. I'm pretty sure this isn't a dream. My ring's a lot more powerful than normal on a dream plane. [Since it's powered by imagination and all...]
