[howherolls]

 [ a haggard looking young man sits on a bed, his hands wringing together over and over again as he speaks. There's a hollowness to his stare, and he takes a little longer than most between his sentences, thoughtfully ]

I was working...on having responsibilities again. I baked bread starting at four in the morning until noon. At noon I fed the geese. Depending on the day, I might have free time after that, but by dinner I helped Katniss cook and I would dead-head the flowers in the garden.

The schedule...helped.

[ his hands spasm erratically for a moment, then still as Peeta clenches his jaw ]

And now I'm here. [ he offers a tight smile ] And that means I'm not feeding geese and the garden's not going anywhere anytime soon. Not to mention there's a possible deer overpopulation problem in District Twelve.

[ he sighs ]

So there go my responsibilities. And schedule. I guess this serves as a fair warning for you all.

[Have a big nice man pushing his glasses up as he smiles at you, Peeta. Clark's look is pretty much the look of worry as he speaks, it's obvious the guy is going through a hard time.]

You can still find some kind of schedule in this place. If baking is what you like I'm sure you'd be welcomed as a baker.

[ he nods slowly, rubbing his hands ]

They said we had to work. [ a snort ] Always, someone else telling us what we have to do. But I guess that's alright. It beats other alternatives.

Are you dead?

[Not the weirdest question possible considering the place, but he still raises an eyebrow.] I am not. Not everyone in here had to die to reach the turtle, some just fell asleep.

[He refrains from asking if that means he died. He's so young...]

You shouldn't take it as someone ordering you around. You said a schedule was good for you so why not take it as a good thing?

[ muttered ] But no one's waking up.

A schedule is good when I know the person who's making it. And why they're making it. The people here, they look like people from the Capitol and they won't answer anything about the Emperor.

[andaway]

[He tilts his head, pushing his glasses up again.] The capitol? Is that where you come from?

[At least he's getting something out of him.]

[howherolls]

I'm from Panem. District Twelve, to be specific. The Capitol...used to be the, uh...capitol.

[andaway]

[And it's the mention of 'Panem' along with the mention of Katniss earlier that make it click in Kal's head. Steph has told Clark what Katniss said about him in case he appeared... he seems like a good kid. Not at all dangerous.]

Right. Well- I'm Clark, Clark Kent and I'm from Metropolis. I know this place might seem scary at first but trust me, we'll all try to help you out if you let us.

[howherolls]

No offense, but it's hard for me to rely on the kindness of strangers after everything. [ he sounds sincere ]

Scary. [ he rolls the word around in his head for a little bit. not exactly the word he would have chosen, but maybe ] I guess there's something scary about it, yeah.

[andaway]

None taken. [A dismissing movement with his hand.] It's understandable, but you should really reconsider it given enough time.

I've been here for months and I still wake up with my house in mind. Can't imagine how it'd be if you were to handle that alone.

[howherolls]

I don't know how much time I have here. Or anywhere, really. Time gets hard to keep track of after a while.

[ he smiles thinly ]

I think it's preferable to do it alone then have to share. [ he shakes his head ] I wake up with other places in mind.

[andaway]

Sometimes it's better to be alone, yes. Sometimes. But other times you need a hand to help you out.

What do you mean by that?

[howherolls]

I won't argue that. But I don't think it's a good idea until I know how...know how my condition will react.

[ he rubs his hands together ]

Nightmares.

[andaway]

You won't know until you try, will you? And we'll be there to take care of you if something does happen.

[He frowns a bit] Nightmares can be quite bothersome. Are they bad?

[howherolls]

[ he nods, considering ] I'll need a guard. Or someone to restrain me in case it doesn't go as according to plan.

Yeah, they're bad. [ understatement of the year ]

[andaway]

I'm sure you won't have a hard time finding someone who will do that. There are plenty of heroes here who'd be glad to lend out a hand. [Like himself, he'll have to present himself as Superman to the kid.]

You're welcome to call me if you need someone to talk to when you wake up, I'm a light sleeper.

[howherolls]

That's good to know. I'll start looking.

[ he still seems a little wary. Peeta's not used to people actively trying to help him ]

It's always good to be a light sleeper nowadays.
