[The post opens on the video setting, with a curious-looking rather pointy-nosed sandy-haired man in Victorian garb looking at the console. He adjusts his cravat slightly.]

I believe this is the 'video' setting? And you all can see me? This really is marvelous, you know—or perhaps you don't, if you're used to it-

[He then abruptly switches to the audio setting, his voice gaining a shading of amusement.]

And I can certainly see the advantages of being heard, but not seen. How thoughtful of our hosts.

[Then the audio cuts off too, his fascination with this new technology overwhelming his usual good manners.]

And this, of course, is text. Most similar to what I'm used to, though this letter arrangement does not seem to be the most efficient. Are we capable of changing this? I'm sure there's a better arrangement for these.

It's good to acknowledge that everyone has different talents. [Oh, he's not bad. Being Beta means he does have to fight occasionally- and he was good enough to get the position in the first place. He'd just rather not.]

Sheep are fascinating creatures, Miss Annabeth. They're always full of surprises. [He actually prefers fish.]

[She nods.] And you need to work with whatever talents you have. Make them your own. Everyone has their strengths.

I prefer architecture.

Indeed. A healthy Pack- or any other society- requires everyone's strengths.

[He smiles.] Really? I was an architect once, a very long time ago.

Everyone counts. [It was a lesson a long time coming.]

What made you change your mind? [Because really, choosing sheep over buildings is so baffling to her.]

Precisely.

[His smile goes slightly wistful.] I was offered a chance at metamorphosis, but the price of immortality as a supernatural is the loss of much of your creativity.

[She frowns.]

I don't think I could do that.

Not everyone can, nor should they- the choice to undergo metamorphosis is quite personal, after all, and it is nearly impossible to tell if you'll even survive it before you make the attempt.

Immortality's a little different back home. More of a godly thing than supernatural in the werewolf sense. But at this point, I'd never choose it. Even if I'd earned it.

Well, we aren't much for gods in Britain, but I do see the difference.

In some ways it's as much a curse as a gift, but I think I've done good with my years. [On the whole. There are times he hasn't, but one cannot always be perfect.]

You think the United States is either? Most people aren't aware they exist.

I'd hope so, with that much time to kill.
