[Contrary to his usual charming self, Courfeyrac looks nearly heartbroken as he faces the feed.]

I lost it. I already lost it and I don't know how I'm going to replace it. Surely I cannot charm my way into another hat... And I'm not entirely certain I wish to! This one I had deemed my lucky one until I could find one more of my fashion in this place!

[He sighs and dramatically slumps, burying his face in his hands.]

And here I had dared to believe my luck had changed here.

[Jehan doesn't respond to that. Feuilly would likely distance himself, possibly Bahorel. He isn't sure about Combeferre or Enjolras.]

Have you checked underneath your furniture?

[Perhaps Courfeyrac is blindly optimistic. Or perhaps he knows that with enough time, they would get used to it eventually. If Jehan voiced his concerns about Combeferre, he'd reason that he's just too logical to find much of a problem with it and Enjolras too blind and uncaring in general.

A small smirk, because he really can't help it.]

I checked under the bed, which seemed to be the more obvious place.

And what about the path to the bed?

Yes, that as well. And underneath the couch for good measure. It is gone, I fear.

I will buy you a replacement, then. Two, in fact, and I shall keep one at my apartment for emergencies.

[Jehan's blush gets redder]

It is nothing. A generous offer for a generous friend, mon ami.

[He's still grinning charmingly.]

I will find a way to repay you somehow, whether you allow it or not.

You are impossible, Courfeyrac. And a warning: the mademoiselle you are talking to, regarding hats? She is Pontmercy's...mistress or lover, I believe.

[His eyebrows raise farther than he could have ever expected them to...]

Is she truly? I had never expected-- regardless, I now owe you another favor for that fair warning!

She is indeed. I would not have expected Pontmercy capable of wooing such a lovely girl, but he apparently has.

My world has turned. Are we certain this isn't some dream or hallucination?

Quite certain. Pontmercy was an idiot as only those in love can be when he saw her asking after him.

I do not know what is more embarrassing, that or the fact that he has somehow managed to win such a lovely lady's admiration.

It wasn't embarrassing at all, really, just amusing. They're so very much in love, Courfeyrac, that one can't help but find it endearing.

I'll reserve my judgement until then, in that case, Prouvaire.

[He smiles.]

But I trust your judgement all the same.

[Jehan smiles back before glancing down and playing with his waistcoat's buttons nervously]

Have...have you met Dorian Gray?

I've had the pleasure of meeting him, yes. He's a charming man.

[Jehan's pink. He was going to tell Courfeyrac that he and Dorian are intimate--they are friends, he knows Courfeyrac won't hate him for it, he deserves to know--but suddenly decides not to]

I believe Dorian wants to thank you for saving my wardrobe, and it is quite possible he will be able to help you locate more hats.

Does he?

[He was sure Jehan was going to say something more than just that... But he doesn't dare press. Instead, he grins a little wider.]

Would he be able to? I should get in touch with him about that, then.

He does. I made the mistake of wearing pink one day when I was unwell and I nearly traumatized him then. Finding out that I was worse at one point very nearly ruined our relationship.

[He smiles a bit]

[He laughs a little, but it's Jehan's later comment that gives him pause. He tilts his head, raising an eyebrow.]

And what relationship may that be?

[Jehan blushes when he realizes his slip up]

Ah...similar to yours and Alcuin's, I imagine.
