Finding family outside of blood isn't uncommon. It's preferable to being alone, at least.

[Doesn't know if they're back to that point, but one can hope.]

Why doesn't he call you brother anymore?

If your close friend had betrayed you but expressed genuine remorse afterward, how would that make you feel?
