[ The elf on the camera is bristling, cast in the blue firelight of the Fire district. His hair is oddly bright white, as are the almost-glowing lines that trail down his chin and neck, and disappear into the collar of his armor. Over one shoulder is the absolutely massive hilt of a sword, which looks comically out of proportion with him. Fenris had finally figured his device out, but it involved a lot of making a fool of himself in front of the Kedan, which he does Not Look Pleased about.

The effect of his otherwise withering glare is somewhat undermined by the fact that he opens his mouth to speak but compulsively twitches his head to the side to stare over one shoulder for a few moments, paranoid about things lurking in the shadows. He wets his lips when he finally looks back, suspicion and unease written across his pointed features before he schools them into a sneer again. ]

I am not a mage-- [ he practically spits the word, what a pleasant first impression he's making here ] but even I can see that this is not the Fade. In Between, they say. Bah. What nonsense.

[ In fact while he's at it let him just stare distastefully down his nose at the thing in his hands. "Technology?" Unlikely. By its strange glow and stranger capabilities, it is totally obviously something far worse!! ] This place reeks of magic all the same. And I wonder who has suffered to make it so? Magic comes with a cost. It always comes with a cost.

Whoever did this will reap what they've sown. I should like to be as far away as I can be when that day comes.

But they're not stopping her from talking to strange elves so they're not being particularly protective. ] That's-- I've heard that. [ The dead coming back to life; he hadn't put much stock in the Kedan's words at the time but... ] I imagine that's done by magic, too.

Well duh! I mean, they're dead! And how else did they get all of us here? And make a turtle grow big enough for a city on it?

[ She gives him a look that's almost pitying, like he's particularly slow but sweet and she feels bad for him being so slow. ]

There's all kinda magic everywhere, it's fancy and I don't think Nico could even do some of this. She can't bring anybody back to life, that's for sure. I wonder if Scarlet Witch could do that? She was really cool and a mutant and an Avenger and everything and I think she was maybe my fifth favorite superhero.

[ Only half those words made any sense to him.

W E L P ] ...I would not get your hopes up for the whim of a witch. [ Scarlet or otherwise. ]

I don't want her to, Nico says stuff like that usually goes really really bad and makes like zombies and stuff. And Chase tried to make a deal with the Gibbermen to get Gert back once but we saved him.

[ she looks thoughtful ] I don't think she's really a witch, though, 'cause Nico and Dr. Strange use magic and they're not mutants, but the Scarlet Witch is. So maybe she just called herself that 'cause it sounded cool.

[ There's a pause, and his brow wrinkles. Okay time to try and figure out what she's actually saying.

Not the first part. That's totally a lost cause. ] And what are "mutants," exactly?

Oh, you don't have mutants? Well, basically sometimes somebody's born and they're different than other people and they can like... read minds or start fires with their brain or fly or whatever! Just 'cause of being born, not from magic or anything. And that's a mutant!

I'm one, too, I'm super strong and I can punch somebody like way up in the air and through buildings and stuff! If I want to.
