Let me take a guess at how many people you get freaking out on a regular basis. Don't get me wrong, this whole thing is, uh... bullshit, but given we apparently can't do anything about it — do you still get a lot of whiners? Maybe I'm not being fair. Maybe everyone is reasonable about all this.
[ He grimaces, then shrugs. ] Then again, maybe not. Still, forgive me if I mess up some kind of cultural thing because I'm from somewhere that doesn't have magic or people other than humans. I'm still learning.
[ That's when he takes a deep breath and looks almost pained that he has to keep talking. ]
All of that said, my name is Junior. Well, no it isn't, but I go by that. My name is Will Vega. I guess I'm looking for a job now. Anyone know of anywhere looking for a baker?

But then, you do get used to everything here rather quickly, I've found. Including the magic, oddly enough. In the meantime, can I offer any help? I've got some information from the Welcome Center if you've not been through yet.
video;
[ He smiles, slight, to show it was a joke. Funny, right? ]
Um, I basically got shoved that way as soon as I stumbled into town and started talking nonsense. Is it all the same thing from everyone?
video;
Getting used to this place IS probably something to fear, I must admit. I worry for our collective sanity at times, after this place, I DO admit.
[As far as the same thing goes...well,]
There IS a script of sorts but I don't HAVE to stick to it, mind. Especially if you have any particular questions or want to find something in particular.
video;
[ He just kind of frowns in thought. ]
Well, where to get a job is a good one. I did hear about the Hotel, but I'm not keen to mooch longer than I have to.
video;
[As far as jobs go, a few things come to mind.]
I think that would depend on things you like to do, or are good at. Some of the kedan have businesses but you're likely better off at somewhere run by Foreigners.
video;
[ He's got one in particular, but he's willing to compromise for the moment. ]
I'm a baker by trade, so that's where I'd like to keep working. Had my own place back home, but I know that's not happening here. At least... for a while. [ Which he doesn't want to think about. ] And I bet there's always menial work looking to be done, too.
video;
[Of course, he's quirking a lip a moment later.]
Or, at least they aren't SO strange. Hopefully, that is a comfort.
A baker, hmm? That...may be easily solved. I'm not certain anyone runs a restaurant right now, but perhaps the hotel may be a place to start if you want work in that direction. There ARE a lot of people who stay there.
Although, yes, the menial work IS there too. And the Welcome Center always does take people on once you're able to explain things.
video;
[ He might get used to it, but bringing someone else into the fold? Nnnnnnno thanks. ]
Hotel, though. Better than nothing. I'll look into that with the rest. That's the same as the Midnight Hotel, right? The one they tell you about?
video;
[It's honestly probably more his past experiences leading a political society that have Enjolras able to sell the features of Keelaiai so to speak.]
It just seems like something that may be useful there. And if not, there are so many places in the water district especially. And I wonder...I have some friends, a kedan family, who run a small cafe. I wonder if they might enjoy something a bit beyond their staples.
video;
[ How does one lose an entire year??? ]
Cafes are good. Cafes are even better with pastry.
video;
[And Enjolras is pausing, as he thinks over what he's just said.]
That probably does not help much, does it? The story.
And I can certainly put in a word for you at my favorite place.
video;
[ He's not even going to pretend. Is all of this stuff for real? ]
Please do. Best to keep my options open. Where is it?
video;
[Perhaps, when more people speak of it, it will seem more real or something will happen to make it seem true. Of course, there ARE other options Enjolras has thought about before.]
I suppose it MAY be possible we all suffered a mass delusion and are retaining the effects of it, but I do not REMEMBER being drugged as much as that.
I can definitely do so then. They are a bit short staffed at the moment too, which may help. We had a bit of a geographical event a few months ago and someone was hurt pretty badly, so the help is probably needed. They're located in the Wood Sector, if you can navigate there, and are close to the beginning of the housing complexes...[And he's going on to add some more specific directions.]
video;
[ Isn't that how it goes? History is written by the victors? ]
Geographical event... Wait. Wait, they said we're on a turtle.
video;
[There is a very firm nod in the affirmative, at least. Though, Enjolras is sketchy on the details.]
I am still unsure what happened in the year the Foreigners were asleep, though. I do know that quite a bit of things happened as the kedan gangs came back to prominence and life changed so drastically for them. Perhaps that is part of why.
We are indeed. And we had...
[How to put this? Enjolras goes for the least strange sounding. Relative, of course.]
A landslide, actually. We have been trying to move the turtle to dock somewhere safe for the winter and this was part of our first attempt to get things moving. A landslide. some fog that impedes magic...not our best months, to be sure.
video;
[ He guesses. ]
So, uh... congratulations on docking a turtle?
video;
I AM glad we've finally found somewhere to stop for a while. A nice rest will help most of us, especially now the fog is departing.
video;
There's that. But how long is all that going to last?
video;
Hopefully, the fog will be gone for good. It was brand new and does seem like a limited occurrence. As for being stopped here? That is a good question. It usually depends on the business at hand.
video;
Isn't the business at hand... something-something with the turtle?
video;
[there's a wry little smile at that.]
I do hope it goes as easily as that. Awkward things are never particularly fun to work through, no. I wonder how we might force past it or if that would not make them much worse in the end.
That it is. And usually it changes according to...whatever he knows about the currents we are swimming in. Biological reasons, perhaps, or others. It's strange to think about land turtles in the same way, still.
video;
[ And there's a smile back. ]
Probably better waiting it out and letting it come as it happens. And... god, I don't want to think about similarities between this turtle and any we have back home.
video;
Ah, yes, that COULD get odd and awkward. So far, I've been able to not compare the two, they ARE quite different.
[Though, now it's been mentioned, Enjolras does wonder if he'll ever eat terrapin again. He sort of doubts it.]
video;
Like different breeds or something. [ There's a pause, something working across Junior's face before he realizes. ] I haven't gotten your name yet.
video;
And ah right, names.
[There's a bit of an awkward headduck and Enjolras's cheeks are a bit flushed now as he remembers this is usually part of things.]
Mine is Enjolras. Of Paris, most recently, but Cassis before that.
