[Talia has been keeping relatively quiet over the network, but Jack's post caught her attention while she was checking up on things and she responds with a post of her own after gathering her thoughts.]
Hello... my name is Talia and I've had the pleasure of meeting a few of you since my rather rough arrival. [If by rough she meant near death, but that was a trivial matter right now.] As has been brought to your attention already, our hosts appear to be growing ever more impatient with us. In some areas this is as a simple as not offering us jobs, or refusing us service... In other areas, I have been physically jostled aside and I've little doubt that others have suffered similarly. I know rationing and I understand the stress that it puts upon a people, let alone a people that are 'suffering' unexpected guests. This is something more and it concerns me...
[She exhales slowly, because admitting to this had caused her problems in the past and directly caused her to be ostracized and targeted... needless to say, she was wary, but knew it was knowledge that needed to be shared.]
I would like it known that I am an Empath and a Mind Healer. One of the things this grants me is the ability to read the emotions of others and, if I choose, to sway them. The kedan are restless and they are angrier by the day... I'm the strongest Empath in my kingdom, but not even I can manage the entire expanse of Tu Vishan by myself at one time. I have been able to keep tempers calm around the Water Sector, but if you've need of me anywhere, at any time, you've but to send for me and I will come.
Otherwise, I will be making circuits throughout the Sectors and offering what help I may with my abilities. [And she'd continue to do so until she ran herself to the ground or the trouble came to an end.]

I will act and they will see. I will do everything I can to earn and keep their trust.

[It would be a simple enough thing to lie in response to Aisha's question, but Talia wouldn't. In the end, there would be no point and any trust gained would be again lost.
She doesn't like that she's being goaded and pushed the way she is, but she also can't fault the woman for saying what she says. No matter the good intention behind her actions, there would always be someone bringing up the very things and using the very arguments that Aisha was.
So, instead of lying of rambling some excuse about morality and such, she shakes her head. Her tone does not waver as much as I might have a year ago.]
I cannot promise that.

How did you come by these abilities? You are a mutant?
[It's the only real frame of reference she has for these things.]
no subject
[If she's grateful for the subject change, she does a lovely job covering it, but she very much is. The subject of Gifts and such, though, is one she slides into freely and easily.]
I'm uncertain what a mutant is, but I will tell you what I can. [She purses her lips slightly in consideration, framing her answer.] I was born with my Gifts, as any Herald-to-be is, but they did not awaken until my thirteenth year. For some, they come on sooner... closer to ten on average when they begin showing the first signs. Around that same time, the child is Chosen by a Companion... they look to be magnificent white horses, but are so very much more. The Chosen and Companion bond with one another... and a bond more personal might not ever be possible. It is as if you have found a piece of your soul you never knew you were missing. To fall into those eyes...
[She's going to trail off here a moment, because it had been life hanging for her too, even if she hadn't understood it fully at the time. She closes her eyes and shakes her head, refocusing her gaze on Aisha.]
But I digress... As I said, I did not yet have my Gifts when I was Chosen. [She chews her tongue a minute before continuing.] While some come into their Gifts in time and are allowed a relatively calm transition, others can have their gifts awoken through trauma or intense emotion. My Gifts awoke when an attempt on my life was made my first winter at Haven.

Why?
[Was someone trying to kill her. Obviously there was a reason.]

[ ... Thank you for not voicing that particular opinion, Aisha... Talia might just have been too horrified for words.]
I was Chosen as the Queen's Own Herald... The direct advisor to the monarch of our kingdom. While some believed they could sway me to see their way in matters of office, some didn't like that I would hold an equal vote in Senate... they thought it simply easier to get rid of me altogether.
[She is quiet for a beat, mind drifting to that terrifying day. She'd always had a fear of water because of it and could only thank the distant stars that she hadn't arrived in the ocean like many of the other foreigners had.]
Talamir was Chosen of Rolan and held the position before I and he was poisoned...

[All the more reason to dislike it, frankly.]
no subject
[Talia smiles wryly at that.]
Well, then that is one thing among many other differences that we all have in common.
[She feels the same way, Aisha, really. The politics aside though, she loves her Queen and the Princess dearly.]

So you say.
One thing more. If we meet, do not use these abilities of yours on me. I will kill you for it.
