Video

[Seeing herself looking back at herself in the little window on the corner of her monitor, Korra gave a stumped look and tapped the little camera lens that the desktop was using. Seeing her huge finger tapping back at her caused her a smile and she cleared her throat. Music can be heard from the speakers.]

Ahem. Hello. My name's Korra, I just got here. I'm the Avatar, but I'm not too sure that means anything here. [She looks both angry and confused, immediately wondering why she just thought of that now instead before.] But anyway, the kedan informed me that I should probably get a job. [Of course it probably sounded a lot nicer when they said it.]

So if anyone knows of a good place to work at, I'd appreciate the help. [She leans forward and puts her forehead in her hand, admonishing herself for not bringing up what she would able to do for work.] Um, I'm a bender, I can create fire and move water or earth around or into just about any shape or form you need? [Ice sculpting crossed her mind. She'd never given any thought to it. Then again she was never too artistic to begin with.] I don't know if fire matters? Burning things doesn't sound a like it'd be in big demand...

Also I'm a former pro athlete! If there's any kinds of sports going on I'd like to get into that! [A smile spreads across her face.] Doesn't even have to be a job, just for fun.

I'm in the Metal Sector if that helps. If anybody's from there we can meet up and you could fill me in a little more about this place? Looks pretty cool to be honest. Oh, and food, meeting at a restaurant would be good. [She stares at her monitor screen with her lips pushed to one side of her mouth.] And any advice or pointers on these things- [She points at the monitor, which just seems like she's pointing at the viewers.] would be welcome too. The kedan gave me a quick once over for it, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough.

[There's an long awkward pause as she looks left to right nervously.]

Yeah, that's about it.

I can't be everywhere at once. None of us can.

[And then there was the problem of power. He wasn't the most powerful super running around New York back home, plenty of the villains were stronger, faster, or both.]

And I'd prefer it if nobody died just because I wanted to live a normal life.

It might be doable where you're from, but it's definitely not where I come from. Rhino alone would be an issue, to say nothing about Kraven or Tombstone.

[At least Gobby and Venom weren't threats anymore. Hopefully.]

And even at the best of times, breathing's the least of my problems. Though it's not that bad.

Not a rhino, the Rhino. Big guy in an impenetrable suit of armor, and strong enough to throw cars around with his head.

[And probably the only person on the planet who can actually use "drop a building on myself" as a viable defensive strategy]

As for my name, you can call me Spider-Man.

[He's keeping his age to himself though, Avatar. No need to make it easier for anyone listening in on them to figure out who he is like Batman]

Nah, I'm pretty young. Pretty sure I wouldn't be able to do half the stuff I can now if I were just some old geezer.

And if you can do even half the stuff you say you can, there might be a group around here that could use someone like you. If you're up for it, I mean.

Should I be worried that lately this conversation's been focusing a lot on what I look like under the costume? Not even Black Cat was that forward.

[Don't make him call for an adult Korra B| ]

As for the group, we're all superheroes of some kind back home. A lot of 'em are used to working with partners or teams, already, so they decided to form one here. Just for heroes around your age.

Unless of course you're the one with creepy age-hiding secrets and an obsession with making yourself look like a teenager.

Hey, works for me. Haven't had a good supervillain to take down since I got here, could be fun.

[He's heard stranger things, so he's not discounting what she just said completely, at least so far as plausibility goes. Not like he knew how bending worked. But it's pretty unlikely that somebody who's supposed to keep balance in the world would be, well, evil.]

Then again, if you're evil, I'm gonna have to retract that offer from before, grandma. Our little superhero club's got a strict no evil villains allowed policy.

...I don't know that we ever came up with a name, actually.

[Professionals, all of 'em]

And we're not really the police. A lot of us run the occasional patrol just to keep the gangs in check, but we leave most of the police work to the actual police. They already hate us helping out as it is, so it's probably best we don't step on any toes.

If things get really bad though, we're there to jump in. In the meantime, it's mostly just a nice way to learn from the others. Most of us are still fairly new to the whole "hero" thing, so we've got a lot to pick up.

[Of course, with Pete here, that was centered mostly around actual hand-to-hand combat training, so he he can stop getting his but kicked by formally trained henchmen]

Actually they've hated us helping out since we got here, from what I've heard.

[He attributes it to stubborn kedan pride more than anything else, though. Not like anyone on the team was woefully incompetent.]

Some of us treat it like a full time job, but not everyone. If a major emergency ever pops up again though, expect everyone to be involved. Pretty sure that's what Batgirl wanted, for it to be a way for us to coordinate when things get ugly.

Aaactually, no, you're not. One of us is gonna have to vouch for you first. Heck, maybe more than one. The girl who got this whole thing started's gone back home, so I don't know if they've changed the process at all.

But hey, you're in the sector I patrol the most, so at least it should be easy enough to plan out.

I am soooo not telling you where I live. It's called a secret identity for a reason.

[Also, not telling her anything means he's technically not being a lying liar who lies, so his conscience can be at peace with it too!]

I just patrol the Metal Sector most because it's pretty similar to where I came from back home. Lots of tall buildings, automobiles, rude inhabitants, the works.

As for the vouching, don't worry about it. It just means we've gotta see you in action, so we know you can handle yourself. Course, I can't say for sure if that's enough anymore, but at least it'll give us something to work with.

[Frankly, if the webhead was better at being a team player, he'd probably know this stuff. But he's still used to being a solo act, so he's only slightly less out of the loop than Korra is.]

Besides, I'm always on the lookout for more training partners. Sparring with White Tiger's only good for the standard hand-to-hand types.

Teammate. Here, and in the alternate universe she comes from.

It's kinda complicated, but no, she's not an actual tiger.

That's pretty much up to preference. Same goes for tights.
