[Seeing herself looking back at herself in the little window on the corner of her monitor, Korra gave a stumped look and tapped the little camera lens that the desktop was using. Seeing her huge finger tapping back at her caused her a smile and she cleared her throat. Music can be heard from the speakers.]

Ahem. Hello. My name's Korra, I just got here. I'm the Avatar, but I'm not too sure that means anything here. [She looks both angry and confused, immediately wondering why she just thought of that now instead before.] But anyway, the kedan informed me that I should probably get a job. [Of course it probably sounded a lot nicer when they said it.]

So if anyone knows of a good place to work at, I'd appreciate the help. [She leans forward and puts her forehead in her hand, admonishing herself for not bringing up what she would able to do for work.] Um, I'm a bender, I can create fire and move water or earth around or into just about any shape or form you need? [Ice sculpting crossed her mind. She'd never given any thought to it. Then again she was never too artistic to begin with.] I don't know if fire matters? Burning things doesn't sound a like it'd be in big demand...

Also I'm a former pro athlete! If there's any kinds of sports going on I'd like to get into that! [A smile spreads across her face.] Doesn't even have to be a job, just for fun.

I'm in the Metal Sector if that helps. If anybody's from there we can meet up and you could fill me in a little more about this place? Looks pretty cool to be honest. Oh, and food, meeting at a restaurant would be good. [She stares at her monitor screen with her lips pushed to one side of her mouth.] And any advice or pointers on these things- [She points at the monitor, which just seems like she's pointing at the viewers.] would be welcome too. The kedan gave me a quick once over for it, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough.

[There's an long awkward pause as she looks left to right nervously.]

Wow, so you’re not kidding about that science stuff if it runs in the family that strongly. Getting lab built sounds like a big goal. I don’t think I have anything like that yet. I’m just getting the hang of this thing. [She gives a vague hand motion to the console she’s sitting at.]

What are you doing to make ends meet given the rationing fiasco we're in the middle of?

Oh, we had things like this on Krypton. They're not that hard to get used to, they're designed to be easy.

And, well, I'm not really doing anything. As long as there's a yellow sun overhead I don't need food, water, or sleep.

Wow, you’re Krypton had these too? I get the feeling I’m the only person who has never seen of these. [Korra’s entire being freezes in mid-motion.] I’m sorry, I think you lost me. Did you just say “food, water, and sleep” right after you said “I don’t need” because that’s what I thought I heard.

[Sleeping in is Korra’s morning activity, so no sleep required alone would have weirded her out.]

[ She has to restrain a laugh. Her powers really need to be public knowledge by now. ]

I'm powered by the sun. I don't even need to breathe, it turns out.

And all this time I’ve been getting a tan while the sun’s been holding out on me? [Joking is the only thing she can do while processing that bit of information.] So this whole rationing thing isn’t really too big of a deal for you, huh?

I don’t think I could not eat even if I didn’t have to. Arctic hen with sea prune stew just need to be eaten.

[ She chuckles. ] No, it's really nothing for me. I miss food, but I don't get hungry, so it's sort of like giving up a hobby, you know?

Nope, I sure don't know. That is straight out weird to me. [She's trying to empathize, but she's never given up anything.] But it sounds like it's a pretty good thing to have right now. No reason for the kedan to blame you for anything, right?

[ She shrugs again, and sighs. ] It didn't stop them from firing me.

That's okay, once you get that fishing down, you'll be making juulan in no time.

[ She laughs. ] You think I should sell fish? When there's barely enough food to go around? I'm pretty sure my cousin would disown me. [ And he's supposed to be the baby. What would that say about her? ]

You have to make a living too you know. Just because you don't need all the things we do doesn't mean you shouldn't be able to at least have some money. You could sell them cheap, like six fish per juulan?

[Quickly she snaps to attention.] You have family here??

Community is a virtue. [ She sounds like someone repeating after a teacher. Probably because everyone in the world tells her that all of the time. ] And for that matter, so is family.

Although technically he's from an alternate universe.

Yeah, you're right. I'm so used to the city I forgot that's what we had to do in the Southern Water Tribe. Everyone got their fair share.

So he's your cousin, but not your cousin. [She nods as if she perfectly knew what she was talking about.]

Yes. Probably. I mean, the last time I saw him he was only a year old, but I trust him.

Is it different, in the cities? [ Community is kind of a world-wide thing on Krypton. ]

Family is family I guess?

YOU have no idea sister. First thing I found out when I got there is you pretty much need money to eat. Back at the south pole, we had water tribe money but the food was always shared.

More or less. [ Assuming they are genetically related. She can't be sure. ]

In Argo you had to pay for things, but everyone worked together. If times were hard we wouldn't turn our backs on each other.

Guess the kedan never had a tight knit society like either of us did, huh? They're just going to have to deal with us, not like we're going anywhere anytime soon. So they're going to accept our help whether they like us or not.

Or maybe they did, and they just don't consider us to be a part of that. The best thing we can do, I think, is to do our best to help them.
