[Seeing herself looking back at herself in the little window on the corner of her monitor, Korra gave a stumped look and tapped the little camera lens that the desktop was using. Seeing her huge finger tapping back at her caused her a smile and she cleared her throat. Music can be heard from the speakers.]

Ahem. Hello. My name's Korra, I just got here. I'm the Avatar, but I'm not too sure that means anything here. [She looks both angry and confused, immediately wondering why she just thought of that now instead before.] But anyway, the kedan informed me that I should probably get a job. [Of course it probably sounded a lot nicer when they said it.]

So if anyone knows of a good place to work at, I'd appreciate the help. [She leans forward and puts her forehead in her hand, admonishing herself for not bringing up what she would able to do for work.] Um, I'm a bender, I can create fire and move water or earth around or into just about any shape or form you need? [Ice sculpting crossed her mind. She'd never given any thought to it. Then again she was never too artistic to begin with.] I don't know if fire matters? Burning things doesn't sound a like it'd be in big demand...

Also I'm a former pro athlete! If there's any kinds of sports going on I'd like to get into that! [A smile spreads across her face.] Doesn't even have to be a job, just for fun.

I'm in the Metal Sector if that helps. If anybody's from there we can meet up and you could fill me in a little more about this place? Looks pretty cool to be honest. Oh, and food, meeting at a restaurant would be good. [She stares at her monitor screen with her lips pushed to one side of her mouth.] And any advice or pointers on these things- [She points at the monitor, which just seems like she's pointing at the viewers.] would be welcome too. The kedan gave me a quick once over for it, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough.

[There's an long awkward pause as she looks left to right nervously.]

I do, but it's hard to get hired these days. I've been getting by teaching people to read English.

[Suddenly she's fumbling her hands frantically about her desk, she finds and holds up a little note that says her name in Chinese.]

Are you able to read this?

[He recognizes the writing system well enough to know he can't read it.] Sorry, I can't, but I come from a world where that's used.

[He writes his own name in English, French, Dutch, Spanish, and Armenian and holds it up: Bean, Haricot, Boon, Haba, Lobi]

Can you read any of these?

Nope, not a single thing. [Her shoulders sag and she sighs.]

Guess I better find a job soon. That is if you have room in your schedule for another foreigner to tutor. [Which sounds weird to her, never has she had a teach even remotely close to her age; let alone someone below it.]

[It's something Bean's grown used to, being younger than everyone's expectations.]

I still have about nine juulan left from what the kedan gave me when I first arrived. How much are your lessons Master Bean? [Said entirely with an impish smirk.]

Hm... One juulan an hour will do until you can find work. Unless you'd rather set up a bartering system. Do you have any useful skills you could teach me in return? [Please say you know how to cook.]

[Everything about her reaction speaks of how steep that cost is to her. Especially since it sounds like a lower rate than if she had a fixed income. Then again, she's not used to having to handle money.]

Um, well we can definitely rule out bending. Do you know how to fight? It's safe to say I can definitely call that a useful skill. [She's pretty pugnacious.]

I coooooould teach you- [She's wracking her brain here.] ummm, to make water tribe food? It's what I've been eating since I got here and I have a huge batch of Sea Prune stew. Apparently no one seems to care for them.

[Because they're disgusting to just about everybody.]

You haven't lived until you've had Pickled Fish. It's more Northern Water Tribe grub, but it's pretty darn good actually.

What is bending and why are we ruling it out so quickly? [Because he can totally bend over and touch his toes, ok?]

I had plans for a different self defense teacher, but if you're offering, I'd be interested.

[She’s got this explanation down to an art.]

Well a bender is someone who was born with the gift to manipulate an element. Where I’m from a waterbender, like myself, can concentrate to move water with traditional movements and motions.

You know what, let me show you.

[There’s a half a cup of cold tea on her desk and she opens her hand, her fingers seeming to cradle nothing. With a graceful, gentle pull of her arm the tea rises on its own into the air. She turns her hand towards her and then away from her in a fluid, calming motion causing the tea to circle itself.]

That’s really basic waterbending, but it’s usually done on a bigger scale. I learned to fight alongside with the bending training I had, but if you’ve got a better teacher I’d like to meet them too.

I’d be happy to bring you some! You’re gonna love it. [But sea prunes are so awful, that’s why they’re everywhere during the rationing Korra!]

[Bean is impressed by her ability, but doesn't particularly show it.] So you're what some people call a metahuman. A person with extraordinary abilities.

The person I was going to ask is Dr. Soranik Natu, a... friend of a friend.

I'm in Metal suite 1A, and I'm free for a lesson whenever you are.

Metahuman? [It's an awkward word for her to say.] Um, I guess so? Since there's only the Avatar can bend all four elements and I'm the current one, that makes sense. [It's just a weird word to her.]

Soranik? Nothing wrong with having two teachers though. Everyone has a different way of fighting.

[She gives a little yawn.]

I think we should set that up for tomorrow afternoon. I've been on this console thing for I don't even know how many hours. I do need to sleep sometime. Don't worry though, I can heat up the stew so it's still nice fresh. It doesn't go bad for months. Longer if you freeze it.
