[Seeing herself looking back at herself in the little window on the corner of her monitor, Korra gave a stumped look and tapped the little camera lens that the desktop was using. Seeing her huge finger tapping back at her caused her a smile and she cleared her throat. Music can be heard from the speakers.]

Ahem. Hello. My name's Korra, I just got here. I'm the Avatar, but I'm not too sure that means anything here. [She looks both angry and confused, immediately wondering why she just thought of that now instead before.] But anyway, the kedan informed me that I should probably get a job. [Of course it probably sounded a lot nicer when they said it.]

So if anyone knows of a good place to work at, I'd appreciate the help. [She leans forward and puts her forehead in her hand, admonishing herself for not bringing up what she would able to do for work.] Um, I'm a bender, I can create fire and move water or earth around or into just about any shape or form you need? [Ice sculpting crossed her mind. She'd never given any thought to it. Then again she was never too artistic to begin with.] I don't know if fire matters? Burning things doesn't sound a like it'd be in big demand...

Also I'm a former pro athlete! If there's any kinds of sports going on I'd like to get into that! [A smile spreads across her face.] Doesn't even have to be a job, just for fun.

I'm in the Metal Sector if that helps. If anybody's from there we can meet up and you could fill me in a little more about this place? Looks pretty cool to be honest. Oh, and food, meeting at a restaurant would be good. [She stares at her monitor screen with her lips pushed to one side of her mouth.] And any advice or pointers on these things- [She points at the monitor, which just seems like she's pointing at the viewers.] would be welcome too. The kedan gave me a quick once over for it, but I'm not sure that's going to be enough.

[There's an long awkward pause as she looks left to right nervously.]

Yeah, that's about it.

[Korra can see the gears turning and it's odd to actually see him focusing for once.]

How about Lao for short? On second that I may already know a Lao, so let's stick with Leo. It's close enough. [Everyone saw what you did there Korra.]

Sure! I've never said no to trying out something new. Is it spicy?

[LEO DOESN'T GET IT. D8 But he just shrugs it off!]

Yeah, okay, whatever. [And he raises a pointer finger.] Hang on a sec, okay?

[He has a brown toolbelt wrapped around his waist, which he reaches into and pulls out some ingredients, even if they look like they're too big to fit in it.]

[Okay, she really wants to know how the heck he had food in those toolbelt pockets and how they got in there.]

Do you always carry food with you...? [She doesn't want seem like that's fazing her at all, but Korra's finding that pretty hard to do.]

Especially with the rationing going on? [Trying to figure out how he doesn't get mugged just for the scent of food is itching her brain. The Metal Sector seemed pretty rough, but the Fire Sector must be much nicer.]

What? Oh. Yeah, my dad gave me this toolbelt. [the perks of having a literal god for a father] It's supposed to give me anything I want, but it kind of needs to recharge after that. [a grin!] Got a stove?

[Korra just heard a lot crazy in that one sentence.]

Whoa, hold the telegraph. Did you just say that belt gives you anything and needs to recharge?? [He had to be pulling her leg and simply packed the food when they were talking about food earlier.]

Yeah, but I never used it so you're on your own figuring out how it works.

Uh, yeah; congratulations to you, having sharp ears and all that. [A pause!] Well, okay, I can't pull out some things out of it, like a bed or a ship or a magical item or whatever.

Anyway, I know how to operate a stove, no problem. And seriously, telegraph?

Of course not a bed, that’s just crazy talk. [When in beautiful Sarcasm Land, be sure to watch Korra grab stockpiles. There is no way she’ll buy that the toolbelt can do that and she knows there’s no way to instill physics and logic into him.]

Yeah, apparently we’re pretty limited on technology back home. Especially nothing like that, [She points at the console which she sort of left on.] or stove top taco sandwiches.

What materials would you need for the glider? I might be able to get some of it together.

You're missing out, man.

[Don't mind him he's just going to barge into your kitchen collecting cooking materials and stuff now.]

I'd need some metal, but there's a lot I've salvaged from the Metal Sector already. I'd also need some Nylon and Ripstop material, though if you can get silk, that works pretty well too. Other stuff like bolts and screws I can just pull out of my toolbelt.

[...Also he might have switched the stove on just by a wave of his hand.]

Going by the console alone, I know I am. [She’s itching to get a hold of some modern digital doodads. Whatever he finds is fair game, she wasn’t too familiar with her suite just yet anyway.] Nylon and silk, because I have no idea what Ripstop is. I can buy those around here somewhere, right? [Of course she has to follow him due to her feeling that if she didn’t, he might lose track of what they were talking about.]

Hey… [Elemental manipulation is just so easy to spot though.] How did you do that? [Refraining from saying “Firebending?” was hard because it was all she knew and it was impossible since he’s from an entirely differently world.]

[And following him is a pretty good decision! Leo gets sidetracked a lot sob. Except when he's working on some machine. Then it's pretty hard to get his attention.] Yeah, you can find silk at the markets, but you got to be a good bargainer. Some of the guys there are pretty tough.

[And he pauses for a moment, looking a bit distracted at her question and scratching his head.] Huh? Oh, you mean the stove? I... turned it on? [Because that's how you do it, right? Switch on stuff by controlling them with your powers of mechanical manipulation?]

Oh I can be pretty persuasive. [Intimidation isn't exactly haggling, but to her it sure is.]

Yeah. From here, without going here. [Being the snot she can be sometimes, Korra waves her arm in between him and the stove. Have a half a squint. Now that belt starting to sound a little believable.]

Are you a superhero Leo? [Yes, she asking very seriously with arms folded and pursed lips. Because being able to turn on a stove top is a super power somehow.]

Cool, then we won't have much problems with th—

[He chokes all of a sudden at the superhero comment, then laughs.] Superhero? No thanks, I'd rather not wear skimpy tights with brightly-colored underwear over it. I'm a demigod. [Yeah because that's totally more believable, isn't it?]

[Leo’s description perfectly cracks any seriousness she had on her face. Whether it was funny because she was picturing him wearing that or because she had seen someone in tights before wasn’t something she’d tell.] Okay, okay. Demi-god, right. Seriously, what are you?

[Korra just might get a crash course in believability.]

[Korra pls, is the look she is getting from him right now.]

I'm a demigod, for serious. How else did you think I was able to control the stove, man?

[Oh she knows that look. She's given it to people who didn't believe she was the Avatar.] No way.

[It's not that she doesn't have trouble thinking of Leo as such but- well yes, that's what it is exactly.] How?? You're nothing like, well-uh okay so I don't know exactly what a demi-god acts like but still. That’s like storybook stuff back on my world.

[Words, she has them. Just not the ability to use them when stuff like this occurs.]

[Wow, Korra, you're so eloquent. Leo kind of gets what she's saying though.]

Yeah, well, they're usually storybook stuff in my world too, except when you're actually a demigod. And then you end up getting chased by monsters almost everywhere you go and usually don't live past fifteen.

[Said jokingly, but there might be the tiiiniest hint of bitterness in that. He puts his concentration to cooking, though, to avoid looking at her directly.]

This turtle really does have everything. [Rubbing her eyes like that would help anything, Korra can’t help but ask.] What qualifies as monsters? But you’re about that age, right? [Unless she was way off again on guessing someone’s age.]

Okay, that smells good. [Whatever the heck that food is, her nose finds it delicious already.]

Well, once there were those giant, ugly ones called Titans that tried to destroy the Gods, but that happened sometime before I knew I was a demigod. And then there's this sleepy chick on the ground that we need to stop before she wakes up, and a couple of her minions, and those spirits that possess people, and... [waves hands around!] There's a lot of them, okay? And yeah, I'm 15. Guess I should make a "goodbye friends I am gone" announcement soon, huh?

[COOKING, ETC. and the tacos are done!] Here you go! [He offers them to her with a wide grin on his face.]

And I thought my world had some screwed up things happen. [Unsure of whether or not she should pursue the subject had very little time for consideration because food.]

Thanks! [Taking the taco, Korra licked her lips preparing for her first bite and it was-] Sooo goohhuuud. [Her taste buds are just going to melt with the flavor that’s flooding them right now. Time for huge bites and talking while eating.] I needed this in my life.
