001 ● VIDEO
[ The video feed loads and Mikey comes into view, frowning in concentration with his tongue sticking out. Computers are not his best subject. After about ten seconds he seems to realize that he's broadcasting and leans in, grabbing the console screen as if he can see everyone if he just gets close enough. ]
Uhhh... hello? This thing on?
[ He waves a two-fingered hand in front of the camera and sits back slightly. ]
So um, anyone know if this turtle gets DSL? 'Cause I gotta send a word back to my bros and I can't find the internet thingy on this computer.
[ Squinting at the console, a look of understanding dawns on his face. ]
Ohhhh what if I press--

To be fair Leo had a heck of a dream with the local ancient psychic behemoth sea-turtle, and he believes Tu Vishan was telling the truth when he said Donnie is back home safe - especially when the dream was immediately followed by good fortune, just like the kedan say.
But that doesn't mean that knowing his brothers can disappear out from under his nose doesn't drive Leo completely nuts. If he was a control freak before...
Leo heads out before the sun fades from the horizon, and the sky is still pale twilight when he arrives in Wood. He's working on becoming familiar with the area - trees are amazing for parkour - and narrows down on Mike's building quickly.
He lands on the roof with a soft thump. Are you up here yet, Mikey?]
no subject
The noise makes him stiffen and he immediately snaps the nunchuk beneath his arm and hops to his feet until he makes out Leo's shape in the near darkness. A huge grin spreads across his face and his posture relaxes immediately, the nunchuck shoved back into his belt. ]
'Sup bro!

Mikey. You all right?
[Closing the distance and laying a hand on Mikey's shoulder, Leo gives his brother a quick visual check. Forget that he's already seen Mikey on the monitor, Leo needs to confirm in person. If only he could loosen his knot enough to hug his brother, because he missed him that badly. But Leo does not initiate hugs; instead there's just a sharp edge to his concern.]

[ Seriously he just blinked and woke up here, it wasn't traumatic or painful or scary or anything. ]
no subject
What's the last thing you remember before getting here?
no subject
Well we just got back to the lair after we stopped the Kraang's water poisoning thingie and then that sea mutant tried to--
[ UGH IT GROSSES HIM OUT JUST THINKING ABOUT NESSIE THE LOCH NESS HUMPSTER
Shuddering, he skips that part. ]
I mean, we got home and we were waiting to hear back from April and then suddenly I was here.
no subject
Sea monster?? Are you --
[Okay, no, wait back up. Leo will try to summarize.]
Ngh. Alright look, this is... sort of complicated. Even Donnie wasn't sure how this place works, but - either we all have really strange amnesia, or the Emperor grabbed us from different times. I don't remember any of that.
How long has it been since the raid on the World Genome Project?
no subject
Mikey's smile vanishes. ]
Wait, what happened to Donnie?
no subject
He... got here before me. And he was here for a while but - the other day, he was - just gone.
There's a - strong possibility he's been sent home. But Raph and I are searching for him anyway.
[That's where Raph is now, actually. And you're getting recruited too, lil' brother.]
no subject
Oh.
Mikey's face falls. ]
And Master Splinter? April?
[ Please say at least they're here? ]
no subject
Leo's jaw tightens at the mention of Splinter; his voice is tightly controlled.]
They're not here.
[Sorry Mikey.]
no subject
Oh man this is not good. What are they supposed to do without Splinter around to train them and coach them and sure they're totally teenagers now and they can protect themselves but what if-- ]
What are we gonna do?!
no subject
Do? I'll tell you what we're going to do. We're going to join forces with our interdimensional brothers, and we won't stop until all of us get back home where we belong.
[Well okay there are some wrinkles. Such as both Leonardos are still bereft of any concrete plan whatsoever, and one of those other three turtles is a belligerent menace. But you know what? Leo's working on it. And so is his double, whom Leo both hopes and trusts is capable of keeping Psycho Raph in line.
It'll work out. It always does.]
It might take a while [because Leo's been here a month now, and Raph even longer] but with everyone working together, it's just a matter of time.
no subject
Hmm.
Something about the confidence in Leo's tone -- forced or not -- makes him stand a little taller and look a little less overwhelmed. Leo is their leader, his plans are usually pretty solid and Mikey's happy taking commands from him.
So he nods and a small, but genuine smile spreads across his face. ]
Okay, Leo.
no subject
Come on. You can help me search for Donnie in the Metal Sector. [It'll also serve as a guided tour so Mikey can start learning the city - under proper supervision. And heck, maybe they will run into some scumbags while they're at it. Metal has top-notch petty crime pickings and light gang warfare. Perfect for easy wins.]
no subject
[ This is more like it. This, Mikey can do. A mission, a task, something to keep his attention focused and his skills sharp.
He'd rather it wasn't a rescue search for one of his brothers, but he'd rather be out there looking for Donnie than sitting at home worrying. ]
Lead the way, bro.

Leo misses New York, but he has to admit that branch-running is pretty awesome. It uses a lot of the same skills as roof-hopping, but in a completely different manner. Every landing has to be directed to a branch, there are few wide plateaus on this level to work with or skid upon the way they're used to; on the other hand, things like swinging are now serious options and Leo is in the process of finding ever more inventive ways of getting from point A to point B.
As they travel, he keeps close tabs on his brother by ear to make certain he doesn't get distracted and wander. Plenty of kedan are still about their business, and evening life continues below in the alien city. Wood is practically bereft of crime, much like Water, which Leo will swing through on their way to Metal; things are peaceful and it's ideal pedestrian-watching time.]
no subject
Not only is Mikey on the surface and free to explore in a place where people don't automatically scream at the sight of him, but he gets to swing around in the trees like an overexcited monkey. He adapts without hesitation to the new environment, unable to keep himself from whooping and giggling in sheer unadulterated glee.
The kedan seem largely indifferent to them both, which means Mikey gets a good opportunity to people-watch. Once or twice he gets distracted enough that Leo has to snap at him to keep him on target, but they manage to make it to the Metal sector with no real trouble.
It's... very different to the Wood and Water sectors. Definitely Donnie's kinda place. ]
So this is where Donnie's place is, huh?
no subject
But Leo also notices some glares and frowns, though thankfully no one raises a fuss; with rations back in effect for the foreseeable future, things were becoming tense again. Some foreigners had already lost jobs. Thankfully the resentful number among the kedan aren't threatening mob violence just yet, so for now Leo simply keeps an eye on them.
Then they hit Metal Sector. Easy crime pickings, great rooftops. Leo keeps an eye on the streets below, alert for any wrongdoing that might need a little hero intervention.]
Yeah. If we don't find him tonight, we're going to move his stuff to Raph's place for now.
[Raph's place is the largest - well. Mikey's is big too, but it's also further away. If Donnie has simply gone home, as Leo's dream with Tu Vishan indicated, the suite might get reassigned, Leo does NOT want to lose their surplus of smoke bombs, shuriken, and everything else Donnie had busied himself with. Leo doesn't even know what half of it is for... but it should be kept safe, just in case Donnie is still here. Leo doesn't really believe that, but he's not confident enough in his dream to just abandon their efforts. The consequences of making that choice and being wrong are too great.]
no subject
He's probably just working on something and got all caught up in it. You know how he is.
[ There's another very good reason why they should use Raph's place as storage for Donnie's weapons and makeshift inventions, and that is because Mikey can not be trusted with nice things. Ever. He'd use up the smoke bombs within an hour alone. ]
no subject
I don't think so.
[It would be nice if he could tell Mikey that he's probably right. That Donnie was likely both here and safe, just distracted. But Donnie HAS been buried in his projects, and hasn't left his suite since... well, he was pulling the "hermit mad scientist" thing well before Leo got here. He also hasn't been going much of anywhere recently, and Donnie's usually more responsible than to up and leave like that without telling anyone.
It's possible that he was just really, REALLY focused, and completely zoned out on basic safety measures. But Leo doesn't buy that.]
If he's still here, he's probably in trouble. But we haven't found any signs of a fight or a struggle, so - [Leo pauses to jump a building gap] - I think he might have gone home. Which means he's safe. [And that is the important part. Leo misses Donnie already, even though he'd seen precious little of him recently; but if he really is safe like Tu Vishan said, then he can cope. Not very well, because Leo's pretty sure he'll need Donnie's input to figure out how to get out of here, but...
The alternatives were that he was taken prisoner by the Emperor for some reason, or run afoul of some foreigner with mysterious powers and motivations. However, as nice as it would be to have Donnie present and rescueable, there's not a single physical clue for them to follow.]
But we won't stop looking for him until we're sure.
no subject
So where do we start?
