[Hey Foreigners there is a cutie brunette on your screen right now. She’s tapping her chin a little thoughtfully, eyeing the camera] Okay, so I get the whole other realm, hi-you’re-on-a-turtle-and-also-there-are-computers thing. Which, weird – seriously, who expects the afterlife to be so high tech? Also, sorry about the possession thing, that must've sucked. But I have something a little more important to ask about right now.

[She leans back and gestures at herself. She’s wearing a green dress that, while it looks good on her, isn’t exactly appropriate for every day wear] Does anyone have clothes I could borrow? Pants, especially pants. You have no idea how long it’s been since I even saw a pair of jeans.

Other than that, does anyone know if there’s a dance club around here or something? I had a look around myself, but maybe someone who’s been here longer can help. There’s gotta be some place teenagers can go to let loose, right? [She winks, and reaches forward to turn off the camera when something else appears to occur to her]

Oh yeah! I’m A – Catty, I’m Catty. [She holds her hand up in a Vulcan salute] Greetings to my fellow inter-dimensional travellers. Especially those of you with pants.

[Eyes widen in surprise, a blush creeping up her neck.] Oh. [Her hands drop then, and another sigh escapes Vanessa.] I'm sorry, I just... I know I've said and done and thought some bad things, but Catty... You're better than all of us. None of us could have done what you did. I just want you to know that.

[Catty waves a hand] You don't need to apologise! I'm just overwhelmed by your strength here, Vanessa. [Fanning herself. Teasing makes it easier for her to ignore basically everything else that her friend is saying, because she doesn't feel better than anyone. She doesn't even feel good]

[Vanessa wrinkles her nose, shaking her head.] Please. You're being ridiculous.

[Resting her head against Vanessa again] I know. It's been a really long time since I was able to do that, too.

[Vanessa smiles, going back to pet Catty's hair again.] Well, we can be as ridiculous as we want now.

[Catty makes a pleased sound] As kiss cute boys named Leo as much as we want?

[Rolling her eyes.] You can go kiss your own cute boys.

[She hums thoughtfully] You're right. I kind of prefer them to be taller than me.

[:|] It's not the height that matters here.

It was spur of the moment. He tried to catch me when I was falling. That kind of deserved a public kiss. [This is strangely awkward. Has she really thought about what's special about Leo before? Okay, maybe a little.] He's nice. And he's funny. Totally ridiculous, actually. I mean he's no Michael, but he's cute. He thinks my powers are cool. I mean there was complete acceptance on what I can do. [A short pause.] He made me think of you. Is that weird? I mean, at first. That's why I was talking to him. I just... Yeah.

I guess I can get behind that. [Trying to save Vanessa gets an A+ in Catty's book] And that was a little weird until you specified, yeah. But he sounds like fun, which you could definitely always use more of. And your powers are awesome, so it's good he recognises that. [Pause] So can I haunt him?

You can't blame me! I was lonely and sad, and I missed you so much. [Vanessa gets an A+ in being weird as hell.] What? [There's a pause before she smirks.] Go for it. I think he'd enjoy it.

Hey, there is no blaming happening here, I promise. [It actually gives her the warm fuzzies, in a weird way. She huffs a little] You think he'd enjoy it? That totally defeats the purpose, you know.

[Oh, good. She likes not being blamed for being a weirdo.

Vanessa shrugs.] Sarcasm. Also, it's just... A little bit of karma coming back at him. Besides, even if I said no, you'd have done it anyway. That's just what you do.

[There's a pause] I'd defend myself right now, but we both know you're right. [A sigh] Permission takes all the fun out of it. Anyway, I'm glad you've found someone you like here, but if he turns out to be a creep, I'm reserving the right to make him drool his words out for the rest of his life.

That's also part of the plan. Maybe you won't go too far in that case. [Vanessa picks at a thread in her pants.] He's not a creep, I promise. He has friends here who know him from back home, and nobody's said he is a creep.

Define 'too far'. [It should be a joke, and Catty makes it sound like one. It's not] What if they're all creeps?

Giving anyone heart attacks, that's too far. [Vanessa shifts, mildly uncomfortable as she thinks about it.] Nothing like... Like what Followers do. [Omg Catty.] They're not. Trust me.

[That gets a frown] I don't have that power. [Yeah she absolutely thinks you mean that literally.] I'm not - I wouldn't. I told you, I'm not a Follower, I just pretended to be one.

If you scare them enough. [Catty pls.] I know you're not. But you still have, you know. The weird powers. [You were reading her mind, Catty. She knows you got their abilities and then some.]

Do you really think I would do that? You've known me for years, you saw me for like, two seconds being Atertra and suddenly I'm scaring people to death with heart attacks!

[Vanessa's quiet for a second, head tilting a bit.] The heart attack thing is a figure of speech. You know, people get so scared, they have a heart attack. I really... I don't think that about you.

[The way Catty looks at Vanessa is almost a little too intense, but it only lasts for a second or two. She relaxes again, nodding] Okay. Good. [There's a pause, before her expression turns sad, vulnerable. There's no sign that's it's calculated at all. It's not like the emotion isn't honest, or anything] You're not mad at me, right?

[Vanessa doesn't miss the look. It doesn't last long, but it sends a slight chill through. She squeezes Catty's hand again, letting her know that she's here. For anything. For everything that Catty needs.] Maybe a little. Not for... What you did. I know why you did it, why it had to be done. Why some people will do anything for what is supposed to be the right thing to do. [She's quiet for a moment.] I'm mad that you did it without me.
