[ It's a little too late to adhere to that whole non-interference clause of the Prime Directive, being the subject of an alien-napping and all, so here is Spock in all his pointy-eared glory. Looking as straight-faced as possible. Unlike Kirk, he didn't part from their meeting and then drink himself under a table, he stayed up all night watching network conversations and Sciencing. It would be illogical to... wallow, and he refuses to acknowledge that he even has the urge. ] ... Fascinating.
[ For such ancient technology, this thing appears remarkably serviceable. ] Greetings. I am Commander Spock, of the United Federation of Planets. If I understand correctly, then you are my fellow... detainees. [ There, that's politic enough. ] I would like to request information on what is being done with the crashed satellite debris. In return, I may be of some assistance in constructing something useful from it, as I am familiar with this level of technology.
In addition, any information on the turtle itself would be appreciated; the scans I have taken of the creature only tell me so much, and the indigenous people seem... disinclined to reply to my queries.
[ Aaaand he'll just give a sharp nod and the Vulcan Salute on his way out. ]

Video [After they meet in Charles' network post?]
[Honestly, what is it with the lack of a proper hello?]
Video [Yes good!]
Yes. Pieces of it can still be salvaged, as I understand it.
Video [\o/]
Would it be terribly inconvenient if I came along, when you locate these pieces?
[Invite himself in on some salvage operations? Rude, probably but... science and curiosity!]
Video
Besides it's not like Vulcans are overly burdened of manners. ] I had planned to make an expedition later today, if you are interested.
Video
[And he is also curious about how the Emperor will try to spin this and would like to get his hands on actual evidence, before it is potentially wisked away.]
Where will you be gathering your expedition?
Video
I had planned to begin in the Wood Sector, where I reside. [ He has seen significant building damage even there. ] But anywhere is just as suitable.
Video
[A curious question but Charles moves quickly on to the next bit of the conversation, wanting to look forward, rather than back.]
I can meet you in the Wood Sector. [He responds automatically, before he pauses, having to recall that he does not move as quickly as he'd once done. Briefly he weighs the wisdom of going on an expedition like this one but he ruthlessly shoves that aside. He'll make it work.]
When would you like us to present ourselves?
Video
Video
I will be more than happy to discuss what I can recall with you, Mr. Spock. [Weeeellll, that might be a bit of a stretch, he wasn't entirely ready to discuss the book, until he could get his hands back on it.]
1700 then?
Video --> Action??
And come 1700, he's outdoors with his tricorder handy, scanning away primly while he waits. ]
Action \o/
It wasn't that his back caused him disabling pain, that had begun to fade in the first months of being on the turtle for his last visit. Rather he was troubled by the fact that what had once come so easily, now took definite work.
However, when he spotted Spock, his expression brightened to it's more habitual open friendliness and he raised his free hand in a wave.]
Hello, Mr. Spock. I apologize for my tardiness, I am afraid I misjudged the distance between water and wood. I hope I have not kept you waiting long?
Action
However, he merely nods. ] Not at all, I have been waiting less than- five minutes. [ He would have been specific about he exact amount of time that Charles is late, but he has learned from humans that rounding up or down to the nearest multiple of five is far more acceptable. Apparently, it seems less like you've been impatiently counting every second, which isn't what Spock had been doing either way. He'd been waving his tricorder around scanning everything in the vicinity, especially the local fauna. ] Will you be comfortable continuing to walk?
Action
Splendid. [He muttered, grinning almost like a child in a candy store before giving his head a slight shake and remembering his manners.]
Yes, I'll be fine. [And through sheer British stubbornness damn it he would be!] Do you mind my asking, when does mankind meet your species, in the future? Under what circumstances?
[His expression makes it clear there are going to be more questions behind these initial two; better head him off at the pass if you want any peace for the walk out to the debris site.]
Action
[ There's a pause, and he considers how to phrase the next part. ] Vulcan is [ was ] Earth's nearest inhabited neighbor, located just over 16 light-years from the Sol system. Though Vulcans achieved warp capabilities - the ability create engines that can accelerate beyond the speed of light and therefore make interstellar travel plausible - centuries before humans did, it was their policy to avoid interference in lesser developed civilizations in order to avoid altering their natural course of development. [ There, that was pretty short and sweet. ] On April 4th, 2063, a Vulcan ship traveling through the Sol system detected Earth's first warp signature and returned to make contact the next day.
Action
Head tilting towards the Vulcan a serious expression pinched the telepath's brows together as they pediconferenced along.]
2063? I come from nineteen sixty-two and President Kennedy has just recently announced the intention of getting to the moon. By the standards of evolution that is an incredibly accelerated series of developments, less than a hundred years.
[Physics was an area he was not as well versed in as bio mechanics, though he certainly read many of the papers.]
I wonder if the rapid developments of human mutation plays a role.
[He's forgetting the idea of different dimensions and timelines, getting caught up in the idea of mutations that would allow his species to show the human race how they could all coexist together peacefully. It was an exciting thought, if only as a pipe dream.]
Action
Welcome to the future where not even your DNA is your private business anymore, Charles. ] What effects do these mutations have?
Action
For the record, it's nice to at least buy a fellow a drink before you snoop in his DNA. Of course this coming from a man who snoops in the minds of others to pick up drink preferences maaaayyy be a bit hypocritical.
Charles does pause, left eyebrow arching in an imperious manner as the tricorder scans his way and Spock asks his question!]
Abnormality may be a bit of a harsh term. Rather prefer the idea of simply moving on to the next stage of human evolution.
[Granted, accelerated by the nuclear arms race but that might be getting nitpicky.]
However, since you ask, the mutations appear to have varying degrees of effect, as individual to each and every one of us as any other sequence of our unique DNA.
Action; omfg this is so late feel free to ignore sorry i totally dropped the ball this month
And he nods easily enough, one brow quirked as he considers the implication of Charles' preference. If the evolution of the human race as he knows it is different in the man's universe, what impact would that have had by his own time? It's a fascinating puzzle. ]
Then the changes are beneficial? What effect did yours have?
[ Spock is physically incapable of beating around the bush or asking subtle questions ok?? ]
