[The feed clicks on to reveal a red-headed teen with yellow eyes, who's currently peering at the device like it's going to explode.]
Okay, power button. Check. I thought this could be like that episode of The Twilight Zone where they execute people by blowing up in their rooms and that maybe someone was clever for a change and made the self-destruct button look like the on/off. But! Obviously not, because I'm still here.
I think I'm getting paranoid. It's like there's this voice in my head going -
[Bart holds two fingers up to either side of his head, so they stick up through his hair like ears.]
"Trust nothing."
[He puts his arms down, and he really drops them. They're just suddenly gone, and the camera picks up maybe two frames of the action, but even that's a little lost in a yellow flash. Bart only laughs with relief.]
Hey! Look at that, they weren't lying about that either. Now, if it would just hurry up and work all the time.
So, uh. Hi. Bart Allen. Anyone know where to find the games on this thing? I gotta pass the time until the rest of you slow down.

[Video] Want to go to action?
[He grins.]
[Video to Action] Sure!
[Bart ends the feed here, but he goes back and forth between waiting at the door and checking for responses until Kon shows up.]
[Action]
It was maybe 30 to 45 minutes before he came into the more residential area of Metal. C'mon, he's not got Conner's speed and it's a big turtle...to him any way. It takes about another five until he finds the number of the suite and knocks on the door. There's no point in talking because Bart will be there.]
[Action]
He flings open the door, pokes Kon on the chest, and grins.]
Yup, it's you. I wasn't sure - I thought maybe it was really good computer animation. Or VR. I guess it still could be VR, but I don't wanna know if it is. Hi.
[Action]
No VR could capture my awesome so perfectly! Or animation either, just sayin'.
Hey!
[He invites himself in and looks around. Places are always so different here on Tu Vishan.]
Nice digs!
[Action]
Bart doesn't mind the intrusion at all. He wasn't going to leave him at the door, after all.]
Ha! You'd be shocked. I bet you still think Playstation is high-tech.
[Bart looks around at the place as well. He's seen it, but he hasn't really paid it any attention.]
It's cool-looking, I guess. Still kinda a cage.
[Because they've been kidnapped.]
[Action]
Duh! It doesn't use cartridges and you can play CDs on it.
[His arms go back to his sides and he smiles.]
I think people keep forgetting that fact. That we're here against our will and you know the kicker? We still haven't been told what we're actually here for.
[Action]
The Playstation 3 is better, but it still doesn't have a neural feed.
[He folds his arms across his chest, and the corner of his mouth pulls back into a half-frown. Hrrrr.]
Kiiinda hard to forget that one. Everyone keeps distracting me from it, though. How long is still?
[Action]
[His smile falls back and he sighs, throwing his arms up and behind his head.]
You'd think it was, right? But nope, loads of people just seem to forget and live life as much as possible like they were back home. Or that's how it comes across.
Ten months. That's how long I've been here and that's how long the stupid Emperor hasn't said anything.
[Action]
[Bart is crestfallen at the last tidbit though, slouching down cause that knocks the wind out of him.]
Ten months?? You guys have been here ten months? Ugh, I thought it was like ten days. Tim told me how many people were here. What's the holdup?
Re: [Action]
Ten days would be nothing! I dunno, she just doesn't talk to us unless it's a 'don't do this or that' kind of deal. Which is apparently everything. [He's exaggerating but whatever. Details.] She's just taking her sweet ass time.
Re: [Action]
You mean all the laws they told me about on the way down here? I blanked out on a bunch of those. I was trying not to hurl. I figured I could read a law book or something later. Something about the days we can wear shoes? I'm not running around barefoot.
[Huge eyeroll. But then his eyes widen, and he looks down at the socks on his feet.]
I... don't have shoes. Grife.
[Action]
[He takes in Bart properly and his mouth goes into a line before he barks out a laugh.]
Nice. W'll have to get you a pair, the fashion here is seriously whack though so don't expect much.
[Action]
[He can run on water. He's going to try and see what's out there - wait, Kon can fly. Duh. If Kon's still here, there's probably nothing to find.
Bart's definitely under-dressed for being thrown into a mission, which is what this is. He'd been in bed. Besides the socks, he's wearing a white t-shirt and bright red pajama pants. The latter are from the Flash museum and have the insignia on one hip. When Kon looks him over, Bart rushes to tug on the hem of the shirt because he knows he'll hear it for those.]
I saw the kedan. I'm gonna end up looking like a samurai or something. I can deal with that - I make it awesome.
[Action]
[Kon misses it, just. But you can bet your last juulan he'll comment if he sees it and laugh. And now he has imaged in his mind, and they're of Bart, as Impulse in full samurai gear looking like a dork and he grins.]
What ever you say pal. I bet you just look like an idiot though.
[Action]
[The pauses are there, but not as long as they'd be for someone else. Bart looks confused and then barks out a laugh.]
Weird, but accurate. No, it was more like "which ocean?", but then I figured if there's boats or islands, you'd have found them by now.
[Kon's free to notice it at any point, now, because holding his shirt is a little awkward. Bart gesticulates a lot when he talks, so it will be less of a priority in about 30 seconds.]
Fff, no! I'd look badass. I'll get one of those masks like the younger GA has, with the knot dangling down the back. It's gonna rock.
[Action]
[There's an eyebrow arching as Bart talks and he quickly reaches out to hold the hem of his shirt so he can keep it out of the way. There's a horrible smile and he snorts because yeah he's seen it now.]
Dude, what the hell, really? Nice pants. [Clearly hasn't listened to the whole...talk.]
[Action]
[Bart's interjection is derailed when Kon grabs his shirt because WHAT - oh right, shoot. Busted.
He looks sheepish and pulls on his shirt to try and get Kon to drop it, but he's going to defend these pants 'til he dies.]
Oh, come on. They're pajamas. Who sees them? I mean - besides the kedan. And you. This has been a weird day.
[Action]
[He steps back a little and has to bite his lip to stop himself from laughing.]
Ahem! Okay, you won't be able to get to the mainland. There's a barrier all over the turtle.
[Action]
Oh, come on, man. The money goes to a good cause. They're from the Flash museum. What was I supposed to get? A t-shirt? Way more obvious.
[Someday, that future dig will catch up to him. But not today.]
Besides, they're cool.
[ANYWAY. If you're done amusing yourself.]
Since when do barriers stop us?
[Action]
Uh huh.
[Bart, Bart, Bart, Bart. Kon just sighs and now that he's properly collected himself he explains.]
Because when you get too close, you go out cold. I tried it after my powers came back when I arrived. Ended up crashing into a faceful of water. My friend did the same, she tried to swim it but no dice, she washed up. Even Supes can't get through. You lose your powers for a while after it aswell. So I wouldn't try unless you wanted to slam into an invisible wall and spend even longer at normal speed.
[Action]
Let me get this straight. I'm stuck. On a turtle island. Which is probably not very big. There's an invisible wall that will knock me out if I get too close, and I can probably get too close in microseconds.
I hate this place. I know I've already said that, but it needs to be said. You have to show me where to stop running.
[Action]
Kon nods letting him know he's right about the fact he's stuck and that he'd get to the barrier pretty quick.]
That's nothing, wait til you see the stuff that goes on. [Another nod.] I can take you just as you feel things start to slow down. Uh...speed wise not world wise. I guess the world speeds up for you? Visually. Speedsters, so difficult.
Re: [Action]
He blinks a few times, trying to put the words in an order that works.]
I speed up. The world slows down. You make it sound like we complicate things on purpose. But yeah, when that happens, trust me. Top of the list.
[Action]
Real hard.
He gives you a look.]
Seriously? You probably do! I mean, I dunno how you see the world, like, I can't imagine it. So to me...I would think speedsters when they lose their power...the world like speeds up cause you'd usually see in it slow-mo. Anyway, whatever. Cool, let me know and we'll put on the breaks so we're not spending several hours wet and powerless.
So uh, wanna go just now? Think you can go fast enough?
