[A blond, pony-tailed man with discerning blue eyes peers into the camera, pausing momentarily as though he expected something significant to happen. And then he raises his eyebrows and quirks one side of his mouth in a facial shrug, apparently deciding to move on despite the lack of it.]

I suppose this is more efficient than quill and ink, but it lacks a certain panache, wouldn't you say? [Being that Westley's not quite certain who he's addressing, best to presume there's someone or another there.]

So, here we are. Not that I can particularly identify who "we" are other than myself, nor am I especially well-versed in where "here" is, but thus the point of my inquiry. [A small, thin smile at his humor, which somehow manages to come off as less self-congratulatory and more charming.] Perhaps someone might be so kind as to share whatever they feel is relevant to a relative newcomer.

Oh, and I nearly forgot.

[He didn't, but best to come off casual about this specific area.]

If anyone can point me toward a blacksmith, that would be quite helpful.

Ship's doctor, hm? [Noting that for possible future use.] A useful skill set whether on land, sea or turtle.

We tend to stick by Guilder Channel [which he's taken to calling it just now because Humperdinck and his entire army will find no welcome bit of ocean there if the Revenge has a thing to say about it] and the surrounding oceans. Trade routes, mostly. [Never mind that he was robbing the traders versus actually trading.]

The medical profession is versatile, I will agree to that. [ A pause to ponder on that name... only very very slightly familiar and even then it wasn't in the terms of geography. ] I'm afraid I'm not familiar. Perhaps you could give me another landmark to go by?

Some may know it as Florin Channel. The particular ownership remains somewhat in dispute. [A small smile, as if enjoying a private joke.]

The Northwest area of Europe. Scene of many a dramatic and storied battle.

I suppose it very well could be anything, depending on which nation has the best naval forces at any given moment. [In his line of work, it doesn't much matter which nation's flag is flying; they all carry the same wealth and supplies.]

That is certainly true. [ Living in the post-Swedish Empire world has certainly proven that. ] May I ask which year you're from, Monsieur..?

I hail from the fifteenth century. I've been told already that it's a lost era, technologically speaking, and given the communication device upon which I'm speaking I am inclined not to discount that assessment.

Perhaps that would explain our difficulties in finding common landmarks, do to speak — it was 1791 last I saw home. [ And you bet he's relieved every time he finds someone from further back. ]
