[ The video turns on to a view of a man’s face, and those observant enough to notice nitpicky details might realize that this is a man who’s familiar with and comfortable using strange bits of technology. There’s no fear in his eyes, no outward confusion or panic. He looks calm and in control, and when he speaks, he sounds like it, too. ]

Hello. My name’s Steve Rogers and I just recently arrived from a city called New York. I was debriefed about the situation and I wanted to offer my help to anyone who needs it.

[ He pauses for a moment as he collects his thoughts. These days, it’s not often that he goes somewhere that people aren’t at least slightly familiar with who he is. Providing a brief resume is a somewhat novel experience. ]

I’ve been a soldier for a long time, but I’m also good with my hands. Construction, farming, hunting, good old-fashioned heavy lifting, I can help with that. I can speak a number of languages, too, if anyone needs translations done. I know I’m new, but I want to pull my weight. So if you know anyone who might need a hand with something, let me know.

[ Offering a faint smile, he gives the camera a short nod. ]

[A laugh.] No, but he's cool.

I'm in Earth 1D if you wanna come here, or I could go to you.

Alright, cool. [And he settles in to wait for Cap.]

[ Terminating the connection, Steve leaves his apartment and heads start to the Earth Sector. He makes a wrong turn once, but it’s not long before he’s knocking at Miles’ door and calling through it. ]

It’s Steve Rogers. We spoke on the console earlier.

[spiderkid]

[Miles opens the door right away, letting Steve in.]

Hey. So, you wanted to know that other name I go by?

[ He enters with a nod and a smile. ]

I would. And I promise, your secret's safe with me.

[spiderkid]

[Miles checks to see he wasn't followed, then closes the door.][Deep breath.] Okay. I'm Spider-Man.

[subject223]

Then I think I know you. Or someone like you. Spider-Man's an Avenger where I come from. He's been on the team for a long time.

[spiderkid]

You probably know the other Spider-Man. In my universe, he died, then I started up.

[subject223]

He died? What killed him?

[spiderkid]

Um, I dunno, I wasn't there. There was a huge explosion, though. I know that much.

[subject223]

What made you decide to step in once he was gone?

[spiderkid]

Something somebody said. That 'cause I have this power, I have a responsibility to do something with it.

[subject223]

The Spider-Man I know has said something similar. With great power comes great responsibility. Sounds like that holds true in any world.

[spiderkid]

Yeah. So that's why I do what I do.

Well, Spider-Man's a valuable member of the team in my world, and if you'd be willing, I'd like to include you on it here.

[spiderkid]

You... You want me on your Avengers team? You don't think I'm too young?

[Dude, you're WAY cooler than his universe's Cap!]

If you're old enough to put on the suit and live up to the responsibility that comes with it, you're old enough to be an Avenger.

[spiderkid]

Yeah, that'd be awesome! I mean, I'd be honored.
