I'm looking for anyone with experience in the medical profession past the year 1790 that would be willing to bring me up to speed, in a way. As this would be a great favor to ask, I am of course willing to compensate through the exchange of knowledge or... something else, should that not be sufficient.

Just how much a difference two hundred years can make. [ A somewhat sheepish smile at that. ] I knew there were time differences of course, but it doesn't quite hit home as much as the moment you realize what you thought were the very forefront of modern medicine is really terribly obsolete.

Ah yes, I do see what you mean. The consoles are a bit much for me already. Learning of medical changes must be very...overwhelming. But still possible to catch up with bit by bit I would suppose. After all, they still train doctors today, yes?

That they do, thankfully. I've had an offer from a mamsell Natu who specializes in neurology — an area we've only just begun exploring in earnest. It's, uh... exciting. I suppose that's the best word to describe it.

Neurology...the study of the brain, correct? I do not know much myself, though I have heard the term. It would certainly be a new approach if that might actually be mapped and understood.

[And perhaps help some people who are said to be mad, instead of simply locking them in asylums and basements, or leaving them to the street certainly. And Enjolras has seen enough people who have developed a so called "madness" as a result of living on the streets and the effects of that.]

Correct — I've seen some experiments conducted with electricity, but aside from that the workings of the brain and nervous system are still very much a mystery. She called herself a neurosurgeon so it does seem as though great progress has been made.

I can only dream of the benefits such advances would give us. [ Nerve damage, brain damage, exploring uncharted territory within the very core of the human condition... hopeful thoughts indeed. ]
