[ ace sounds surprisingly calm for someone who has recently found themselves on a giant turtle. it's partially a product of the world he comes from, and partially the fact that he's been here for while by the time he's posting this. also, he's exhausted which helps with the avoiding public freak outs. ] Is it a Sea King, or something else? And does this place always make it feel like you've got Seastone on you?

[ jim he still sails on a ship made of wood, he has no idea what a dilithium engine or a warp-core is.

[He keeps his tone light and congenial because hey, he's overlooking the whole 'pirate' thing.]

[ after all, if he can deal with having family in the marines, he can not pick a fight with space marine guy. ]

[And by his tone there is absolutely no argument on that point. Period, point blank, etc etc. There's not a lot in life Jim's serious about, but the safety of his people is always his foremost concern. Then his expression brightens.]

[ jim's reply makes ace grin. anyone who is that protective of their crew can't be all bad. ]

[Saying he's a 'captain' is still kind of a weird thing. For all that it feels natural (and it does, like it's a pair of shoes he was always destined to step into) there are still moments where it edges into the surreal.
