001 ღ video
[There’s a beautiful, dark skinned girl with choppy hair looking at ease with the console as she turns the video feed on. She actually looks pretty calm, other than the nervous movement of her hands, as if she doesn’t know what to do with them, and the way she keeps looking around her, as if she can’t believe where she is. After a second, she gives a hesitant smile.] It’s kind of nice to use one of these and not worry about any of the problems that come with it. [Problems being that technology and demigods don’t exactly mix, you know.]
I was wondering if anyone could fill me on the situation? I couldn’t get any answers from the guys who brought me to this suite, which is really nice, by the way. [She sounds a little put out by that, the fact that she couldn’t get answers.] My name is Piper. [No last name, in case people here know her dad, and then she has to go through that awkward explanation phase that, yes, her dad was that hot guy in those movies.]
I’m also looking for my friends. Particularly a guy named Jason. Blond, really good looking, he likes to follow rules. [A grin now.] Although, I guess if any of them are here, they’ll find me this way.

action;
[That first bit gets A Look, a look of I don't believe you for a second, before jumping into the question.] The roof. [:T] Where do you think?
action;
Piper doesn't even bother to hide a smirk.] So he's been upgraded to the bed. Gleeson would be pretty mad if he was here.
action;
[She huffs up, but there's a lack of embarrassment over it.] Good thing he's not here. Not that it would matter either way.
action;
She grins, although her cheeks might be just a tad bit pink. It seems like such a normal conversation, but it's not like Piper has actually ever had friends who just so easily decided to live with their boyfriends or anything.] Yeah, but think of how frustrating it would be to have him karate chopping your door open every morning.
action;
[Annabeth notices the color in her friend's cheeks, but she doesn't really do much. Fidget, maybe, because she and Percy sort of fell into a normalcy over it, but she can assume well enough the reason for Piper's reaction. They're still only 17, even if they feel so much older sometimes. She groans over the Hedge image.] I would find a way to avoid that. Or maybe just not tell him. It's not like he's the most threatening thing in the world.
[Her tone starts out light but sort of goes a little flat halfway through the last sentence.]
action;
It's not a judgment on Piper's part, but they are young. But whatever. After so long apart, after Tartarus looming over them, she's happy that her friend has him. That they have each other, so who really cares what they want to do. Although, she has to admit, she's... pretty curious.]
But it's nice to imagine that he is over anything else. [Her voice is soft, and not for the first time, she wishes her power wasn't cut off from her so that she could send out soothing tones to Annabeth.]
action;
[Annabeth never took it as judgment; Piper's probably the only one out of the seven she can talk about this so easily with, without getting so flustered for whatever reason. Mostly.]
[A small sigh, then a tiny smile.] Satyrs are pretty easy to handle, yeah. Preferable, most of the time. [All things considered, especially with what's coming. She'd take Hedge barreling down their door any day.]
action;
[She shifts a bit, folding her arms over her chest as she looks Annabeth over.] I'd definitely prefer it, but we don't get things that easy. Speaking of, so. This place.
action;
[Annabeth huffs up a bit at the look over, but there's no real irritation. She scrunches her face up at the question, though.] This place. There's a lot I can share. Any preferences on where to start?
action;
[Piper shrugs helplessly before moving over to a couch and plopping down on it.] Not really, I guess. Anywhere you want to start is good for me.
action;
[Annabeth flops over on the same couch, crossing her legs up and leaning her elbows on her knees.]
[AND THEN SHE LAUNCHES INTO AN EXPLANATION OF TURTLE RELATED THINGS, like the rationing and landfall and Asti and powers being tied to the turtle and about the thing they're here to fight and how it's killing Asti ETC ETC ETC. There is literally too much to type out in regular conversation at this point.]
action;
I mean.
Piper nods and asks the appropriate questions and looks entirely disturbed, which is the appropriate reaction to all of this information, of course. By the end, she just lets out a loud sigh.]
How did we even end up in this situation? We haven't even finished our first mess yet.
action;
[Annabeth gives a small sigh of her own.]
I know that was mostly rhetorical, but the Emperor's the one who brought us here. She told me it was a 'call for heroes,' which, you know, apparently right up our alley. [Vaguely annoyed and bitter sounding by this?!] And time works weirdly in this place, in case you haven't noticed.
action;
[A beat.] So all we have to do is defeat this thing, and we get to go home?
action;
[She makes a face.] That's the implication. It's what everyone's hoping, though some people have disappeared before we even knew its name. Presumably, they're back home. But we're not sure, exactly.
You should know, the whole summoning bit - it might have just been our souls. [AND THEN DO DO DO HERE IS TALK ABOUT PERCY DISCOVERING THE CLONING FACILITY AND THEN IT BLOWING UP AND HOW THEY'RE EITHER IN CLONED BODIES OR THE EMPEROR IS MAKING CLONED BODIES but she leaves out the official confirmation from Vanessa via the Emperor, for now.]
action;
But we don't know if they really went home, then? [Where could they have gone.
And then Annabeth lays the smackdown on the whole clone and soul thing, and that makes her infinitely more worried. What if the people who disappeared don't even go home? They're just... souls locked up somewhere. She fidgets.] I'm starting to see why people don't ask too many questions sometimes.
action;
[hi her name is Annabeth Chase, welcome to TL;DR.] I think the problem is more we still don't have as many answers as we'd like, regardless of how many questions we ask. [But lbr, lack of answers is always an issue with her.]
action;
Piper gives Annabeth a Look, almost a smirk, some exasperation.] There really aren't enough answers in the world for you, you know.
action;
[Huffpuff.] It doesn't matter. Answers are endless, just like the questions. [Not exactly helping her point but still getting all Sophocles up in here.]
action;
Answers can't be endless if there aren't any to be found.
action;
They're there. We just haven't found them. There are always answers, even if they're shoved away and hidden to a ridiculous level.
action;
Well, if our powers come back, my voice and I are ready to do any digging. [Because she wants to be useful, okay. ;; She wants to do something that will help Annabeth in any way.]
action;
[But Annabeth's face lights up.] If we could get the Emperor out of the palace - I don't think charmspeak would work on her in the walls, but it's completely worth a shot next time she leaves. [Which ok that part might take a while BUT IT'S STILL POSSIBLE.]
action;
[Piper smiles at the way that Annabeth's face lights up at the mention of charmspeaking.] I'm willing to give it a shot. The worst that can happen is that it doesn't work, and it's not like we're in any worse shape then. [She's so up for charmspeaking the pants off of Eshai.]
action;
Exactly. [She's actually pretty excited by this prospect. If not the Emperor, Piper's charmspeak would definitely be useful in other capacities.] In the meantime - welcome to Keeliai, do you have anymore glaring questions? I think I've covered most of the basics. [And she'd rather give her friend more time to settle in before going deeper.]
