Well, that was... quite the event, now wasn't it? I'd like to extend my thanks to anyone that helped clear out the infestation of those little creatures.

[Bruce tosses the camera a disarming smile, pushes a fountain pen out of the view of the camera. There's a slight shift in his demeanor, the sort that few people would be able to recognize much less understand. Batman has just hung up his Bruce Wayne hat.]

I'd actually like to address a matter that concerns us all. I notice there've been considerable tensions lately between the metahuman or powered individuals and those who are more commonly considered 'baseline'. It's my understanding that we're all here to help this world inasmuch as we can regardless of our abilities or beliefs. As with all things, there is always the potential for those with power to abuse that power, but it's my belief that the majority of individuals here deserve our trust equally as much as our respect.

[You owe him for this one, Clark. He coughs, and then brightens.]

Also, it's my understanding that the first wave of Foreigners began arriving a year and four days ago. I know many of you are missing your friends, your families, and others may have those friends or families with you. For better or worse, this place has been a prison, a home, a second chance to a variety of people, many of which are no longer with us. The community we've created here has been strong and each obstacle we've encountered we've overcome, together. And together is the only way we can move forward.

[He folds his hands on the desk in front of him, gives the camera a firm nod.]

Yes, just so. It's an underwater kingdom in her universe. I haven't heard much about it, but there seems to be a half dozen or so people from it. Very strong swimmers.

Huh. That's only stories, too. Where I come from. Though granted, living on the back of a turtle is as well. I should just-- get used to that.

I know it can be a little to adapt to. My world has an entire host of 'superhero' types and I'm still adjusting to the idea of being on the back of a turtle. A turtle, of all things. I'd have preferred a nice Swiss ski resort.

I've never been, but I'm thinking it's pretty nice in comparison.

Well, in all my years of vacationing there I've certainly never encountered any zombies, ghosts, clones or shapeshifters.

[A laugh. Gosh, life on the turtle is so fantastical and silly, isn't it?]

But I suppose that's ultimately a matter of preference. Maybe some people would take that over hot tubs and black diamond runs.

Living in a vacation world would get boring, but I'm sure there's enough there to get up to something.

And I prefer it to nearly dying.

It hasn't happened to me, yet. I just don't doubt it won't. You put a lot of people in one area regardless of who they are, it's bound to not be a good thing. Especially forced-- like this.

Add in zombies and other fun things...? [Yeah, Abigail has trust issues.]

Oh, I don't know about that. It hasn't all been bad. Certainly no one's tried to kill me yet!

Well, there've been lots of decent things, too. I mostly stayed in my apartments for the worst of it.

Decent things? Like what?

Oh, the usual. Parties and dances and that sort of thing. We had an entire week where Asti - that's the turtle's real name - swam through the most brilliant stretch of ocean. It was a perfect vacation spot. I'd love to go back there, the islands would be prime real-estate.

Wow-- I definitely didn't think this place was like that. Guess people are more willing to talk about the bad.

Oh, I won't deny that's been there as well, really.

[He smiles a little and shakes his head.]

But of all the things to focus on after we've been whisked away to the back of a gigantic turtle in a land straight out of myth and legend? Terribly cynical, don't you think?

Well, the wonderful thing about the 'weird', it can be adapted to as necessary.

[He tilts his head, curiously.]

Abigail Hobbs. [She offers a weak smile.]

[It's said in greeting, and affirmation of her name as he gives her a brisk nod and a bright smile.]

Do you mind if I ask what you were doing before you arrived here?

My parents are dead. But my guardians are here. [Not that it really helps since one of them is being dodgy.]

[Bruce wouldn't know a thing about dodgy guardians, now would he? No, of course not. What a ridiculous thought. He's the least dodgy guardian out there. Putting prepubescent boys in costume to fight crime? Not on his watch, good sir or madam.]
