Well, that was... quite the event, now wasn't it? I'd like to extend my thanks to anyone that helped clear out the infestation of those little creatures.

[Bruce tosses the camera a disarming smile, pushes a fountain pen out of the view of the camera. There's a slight shift in his demeanor, the sort that few people would be able to recognize much less understand. Batman has just hung up his Bruce Wayne hat.]

I'd actually like to address a matter that concerns us all. I notice there've been considerable tensions lately between the metahuman or powered individuals and those who are more commonly considered 'baseline'. It's my understanding that we're all here to help this world inasmuch as we can regardless of our abilities or beliefs. As with all things, there is always the potential for those with power to abuse that power, but it's my belief that the majority of individuals here deserve our trust equally as much as our respect.

[You owe him for this one, Clark. He coughs, and then brightens.]

Also, it's my understanding that the first wave of Foreigners began arriving a year and four days ago. I know many of you are missing your friends, your families, and others may have those friends or families with you. For better or worse, this place has been a prison, a home, a second chance to a variety of people, many of which are no longer with us. The community we've created here has been strong and each obstacle we've encountered we've overcome, together. And together is the only way we can move forward.

[He folds his hands on the desk in front of him, gives the camera a firm nod.]

On that note, Wayne Enterprises is always hiring, and my pharmecutical branch is available for anyone missing medications from their respective homes, so if you've any interest in working for or speaking with the longest-standing foreigner-run business on Tu Vishan, my office is in the Metal Sector, and I'm available between six AM and noon on Mondays and Tuesdays. Thank you for your time, Keeliai.

[She's been given the overall explanation, and while she isn't sure what she's doing talking to a large group of people, there are always questions. She needs to keep herself busy, appear normal.]

Guess I'd like to know what there is to do around here? For someone my age? School or do you just-- go to work? [It seems so suburban normal, like how she once appeared to be. Only now she feels more on edge than anything else.]

Or fun? [The concept seems laughable.] I used to hunt back home. My father taught me how to. I guess there isn't any sort of game reserve?

[This feels ridiculous. She gives a nervous sort of smile. She should say more, but she's at the brink of nearly wanting to spill everything and holding it all back.]

I'm Abigail. From Minnesota. [Daughter of the Minnesota Shrike. Her smile flickers before her hand reaches out to turn the feed off, no needing to go into any more detail than that.]

[The Alderwood Commander's office is lit by a half dozen paper lanterns strung behind him, casting a dim light over the files neatly stacked to one side. He is seated, arms rested stiffly on the desk's surface. There are lines of tension in his face and his posture shows signs of general exhaustion.]

Let's skip the formalities and the obvious. [That 'obvious' reference being related to Tu Vishan coming to a stop and all powers reduced to nothing.] Time for you Foreigners to step up to bat.

[A breath in, a breath out; it's no easy to speak about what is going on.]

It's name is Malicant and it's here. Tu Vishan is too sick, too fast; the only thing strong enough to do that is Malicant. We've seen it before and it wasn't easy to push back. Killed too many, came too close with the rest, but we did it. For a time. I don't have more than that. This thing takes whatever form it wants and uses whatever means it fancies to destroy. That's it. That's what I know.

[He focuses solely on the screen.]

I trust you with the name, but don't spread it around. We don't need widespread panic in the kedan -- it'll only make your jobs harder and its power stronger.

[That's right: Your jobs. Its power.]

This won't be glamorous, but if Malicant went about its business openly, then we wouldn't be stuck here. [He'd have personally gutted it if it did. Twice.] I've got a handful of leads -- [A wry, bitter smile.] conspiracies, you'll think -- and I need you to follow-up on them. Track down the source and uncover what's wrong, then fix it. That's why you're here, so stop whining about having nothing to do.

Want to help? Report in at the precinct station at the heart of Keeliai and tell them I sent you. Bring a team or you'll be put on one, then briefed on a lead I need you to look into. Do whatever you need to get the job done.

It's a long shot, but it's all we got. [He reaches for the console's controls, then pauses.] And first one to say I hid it ought to save us all the time and just jump off the turtle. You know what I do -- anything more, and you'd think it could be predicted. It can't. [He kills the feed.]

[ooc: connection issues here, so delays on tagbacks; sorry!]

[Carol is seated calmly in front of the console in her suite, long hair braided and pulled over her shoulder, dressed casually in a t-shirt, her chin resting in her hand]

So no powers. Kinda sucks, I guess, but what're you gonna do? At least there's not a dinosaur chasing me this time. [She shrugs, casually, as if she's not at all bothered by the loss of her powers. She is bothered, of course, but she has other skills to defend herself with. Military and martial arts training can't be taken away from you like superpowers can be]

Anyway, the real point of this is that I'm curious. How many of our previously powered population [Alliteration!] actually know how to fight without their powers? Because apparently we're here to fight something and we have no idea how long this no powers thing is gonna last. Just, you know, for reference. And if you don't know how to fight powerless, would you be willing to learn? Actually, how many of our always unpowered population know how to fight? That's probably important. [She just kind of assumes a lot of people without powers would know how to defend themselves. That's how it works in her experience] I know someone else offered to teach and I probably could too.

Just a thought.
