Haha, knew I could get it t’work.

[A blur of red as the figure of Merida comes into view. Seems like the princess has been figuring how to work this thing for most of the morning—and been watching the various other videos and messages zipping by all day.]

I suppose I should introduce myself. I am Merida, first born descendant of clan DunBroch. [There's a hitch of pride in her shoulders, it doesn't matter where, when, or WHY she is anywhere-- she will always wear her name with pride.] I guess y'could say I'm new here, though th'-- kedan, as they were, were very helpful in explainin' most everythin'. That we’re all stuck here, no way out, etcetera, etcetera.

[Then the camera switches directions and you’ll notice it firmly pointed at a toilet.]

But what is this—and why is it in th’bathroom?

[…They don’t exactly have indoor plumbing in DunBroch. Or porcelain toilets. The kedan told her about it, that doesn't mean she recognizes it quite yet.

But wait! There's MORE.]

Also, what is this I hear about a celebration goin' on? I haven't really found my way around yet.

I don't think so. I'm not entirely settled yet so I haven't really had a chance t'"miss" anythin'.

Once you do, you should come and see Sinbrilee too. I don't know how much longer we're planning to be visiting and trust me when I say it's the nicest of the landfalls we've had so far.

...What usually happens durin' a landfall?

Oh. Yeah, that's fine. Anything else would be weird... but, thanks for asking. It's nice to be able to have the choice.

Speaking of which, you didn't go through the usual de rigueur and instead saw me right away. You used to hanging out with spirits or something?

Depends on where you're from, it seems like. Some places magic seems common... where I'm from, not so much, not by regular people.

...That's just odd. [Merida can't imagine a world where magic isn't real. not after what happened to her.]

What did y'mean by bein' able t'see y'right away? Can most people not?

[ He's amused, her accent seems to be getting thicker. ]

Some start out not being able to see or hear me, some just hear me. But if you believe in magic, it's not a stretch that you didn't have to go through that.

[She just hums, resting her chin on her hand--]

Wonder what my mother would see? I suppose she'd see you-- at least eventually. My father though... [She doesn't know. He saw the wonders of magic and it's powers first hand, but he's always been stubborn and a bit set in his ways. And magic definitely wasn't based on if you 'believed in it' where she came from.]

Well, it doesn't matter anyway. S'long as I'm around, y'at least won't have t'worry about me seein' you.

That's how it's been here, for the most part. Those who start out not being able to can usually figure it out. There are a few though... they just can't.

[ He smiles a bit, doubts she knows how much that actually means. ]

[She huffs a bit, thinking the people who refuse to believe in magic were just stubborn old men like her father. She considers how she would even make them believe-- and then he thanks her.

She shoots him a big bright smile]

No need t'thank me. Even mischievous winter spirits need people t'talk to, right?

[She would say friends, but she doesn't want to jump the gun or make him feel obligated.]

[ He could certainly stand to see that smile more often. ]

Oho~ so you've already decided I'm mischevious, huh? Or is this one of those things where I've got to live up to the legend?

[He may be able to look forward to it if he treats her right, of course.]

It's just about all I know about you. Accordin' t'what th'legends say, you just like causin' trouble. Is that all there is t'Jack Frost?

[ He'll smile at that, though it doesn't quite light his eyes the same way. ]

That's me, troublemaker extraordinaire. Guess you'll have to find out if there's anything besides that.

[She doesn't notice the tightness behind the smile. Not over the video at least.]

Och, you're not a wee little babby and you've proven y'can hold a conversation. So I guess I'll have t'see more for myself.

[a bit of a pause.]

It is too bad y'aren't around back home. My brother's'd be able t'see you and I'm sure they'd love t'have a winter spirit t'mess around with. They'd probably find a way t'make more trouble than even y'could manage.

[And she says back home because she'd never want her brothers away from her home. She'd worry for their safety far too much to even consider them being here.]

Then I'll look forward to it.

[ Hearing Merida talk about her brothers brings an immediate and genuine smile to Jack's expression, smoothing away any lingering shadow from the previous topic. ]

Maybe it's not me, but who knows? There could be another spirit looking out for your clan. And if you want trouble, you'll have to come meet some of the kedan kids.

[She thinks for a minute about that. Any other lingering spirits around DunBroch.]

Y'know, I may have t'take my brothers out explorin' once I get back home. See if we run int'any more wisps. [Hopefully not any witches though.

The mention of younger children-- well she laughs. A bit nervous]

No sure I'd be any good with 'em. My brothers tolerate me, sure. But they like rough housin'.

[AKA she hasn't seen many other kids beyond her brothers. She's a bit nervous about meeting new ones.]

You sound just like Zatanna. Kids aren't scary, I promise. Unless you don't think you can keep up with them?

If y'don't think kids are scary, y'really haven't met anyone like my brothers.

[Don't mind the bit of huffy pout she's got going on now--]

And I can keep up with kids fine. I just don't know if they'll be used t'someone like me.
