So, who all here is into racing?
[simple, direct, to the point. she's smiling as she says it, though. It's about equal parts mischievous and competitive.]
Oh! And for anyone working on or interested in Mr. Kent's newspaper, I'm going to be writing a section on automotives. If anyone has any information on any of the vehicles or mechanics here, I'd love to talk shop. Thanks.
[She gives the camera a little wave, and disconnects.]

[ Miranda felt obligated to wave back, even though such simple gestures were...bizarre for someone to do over vid comm. Must be a habit in those not used to these communications. ]
Sadly, I can already tell you are going to be under a barrage of questions all with the tune of -- "I never took you for a grease monkey." For that, you have my sympathies.
video;
I'm used to it, it's all right. I grew up around machines, but most people are surprised to learn I'm so hands-on about it.
video;
Appearances are, by their nature, meant to deceive. Regardless I'm always disappointed in the idea that hard work and getting your hands dirty is a masculine art.
Were your parents engineers, or...?
video;
Isn't half the fun proving them wrong?
[She won't lie, she enjoys throwing a wrench in people's pre-conceived perceptions just a little.]
My father, yes.
video;
I'm sure you learned right at his elbow, then.
video;
[In fact, he always seemed so pleased whenever Asami took an interest in his craft. She spent countless hours perched on the edge of his desk as he sketched out new designs. Hiroshi had always exceptionally indulgent with her. Once upon a time.]
video;
[ Miranda made a hummed noise of affirmation in the back of her throat with a bit lip. She had nothing solid to make this anymore than guess work, but something about the mixed emotions that ran under such a simple statement resonated with her. ]
video;
Were you close with your father, Miss Lawson?
video;
[ Which wasn't too far off the mark when she accepted that she was a clone. Or that he was complete bastard. ]
But I digress. Do you know when the first print of Mr. Clark's paper will be out?
video;
[She knows that growing up without parents can be hard on children.]
Oh, his last name is Kent, I think. I'm not certain yet, it might be whenever he has enough material. It's a little informal right now, probably because it's such a new project.
video;
Kent? Suppose I should commit to memory the more industrial names here. I'll look into it -- if nothing else, I'm interested to see your own work.
video;
[She sounds earnest about that. She wouldn't mind the feedback.]
video;
[ Miranda is surprised with herself that she said yes in the first place. Asami y u so little sister tier. ]
video;
[a bit of a laugh.]
I'm a little worried I'm being too technical about the details.
video;
If you dumb it down, then you're not going to get much in the way for a desirable readership. On the other hand -- you don't want to be a technical journal. I've written my share of dissertations to reports to know a happy medium.
video;
I'd really appreciate any help, Ms. Lawson.
video;
[ Miranda is a lovely person ]
You're in the Fire Sector, aren't you? I'll be more than happy to go over this with you. Not much left for me to do after this stack of budget drafts.
video;
[It's okay, Miranda, Asami can Nice at you indefinitely.]
I am, yes. 1A, in the suite overlooking the fire gardens.
video;
[ Yes but do you have enough Paragon points for that. ]
I'm out in 2A, but my neighbor can be a real piece of work. The plaza down closer to the business district would be an excuse to get out and work in a more open environment. Are you a tea or coffee person, Asami?
video;
Oh, coffee. Definitely coffee. I know the place, though. I can meet you there in maybe half an hour?
video → action;
Thank goodness, now I have some reference level to what we'd both find agreeable.
[ Down in the plaza at an open table situation in the shopping centre with the fire gardens artfully surrounding its entirety, Miranda kept an eye peeled for the first sign of Asami. She multitasked with a hefty stack of paperwork from her actual job. ]
action;
Ms. Lawson, it's nice to finally meet you in person.
action;
The feeling's mutual. Please, have a seat.
action;
Working on anything important?
action; /taps the fourth wall then carries on
[ With eyes that stuck out against her dark hair, Miranda distantly registered why she had almost called her Oriana when they met. Of course, Asami was a sharp beauty in here own right. ]
Would you like to wait for coffee first, or get down to business?
