[Mark can be seen sitting at one of the many internet cafes in the Earth sector. With Eve gone, he had to go back to these to post to the network as Mark, as his console belongs to "Invincible". ~~Gotta try to have that secret identity.~~ He smiles and gives a dorky little wave.]

So uh, if we were back on Earth it would be pretty close to Halloween, wouldn't it? Uh, those of you from Earth, I mean.... And Halloween is nothing without horror movies--especially zombie movies. As I don't think moves are an option here, I'm trying to get my horror fix somewhere else. Suggestions??

A combination of three guys thinking they knew better than everyone else, a bunch of people acting like idiots, and the government and several super-teams being being infiltrated by insane religious zealot alien invaders.

I could understand the reasoning for wanting something like the registration act but everything beyond that was criminally stupid if you ask me.

Yeah, it gets really messed up sometimes. And that's not even explaining just messed up things got.

Where I'm from, even with the superheroes, things get really messed up sometimes, but... It never gets that crazy.

Sounds like the superheroes where you're from are lucky. I mean...have they ever had to deal with the government putting a murderer and known psychopathic super villain in charge of pretty much everything?

[He just got a mental image of Cecil giving Levy his old job and shuddered.] What? Is everyone on your world nuts?

And sadly, it gets worse.

Giant killer robots made specifically to hunt down people just for being born mutants is one way.

Then there's also the fact that when they were supposed to be protecting the mutant population, they implanted people with chips they said were just for tracking them for safety but turned out to be things they could use to kill them on command. Or torture them.

Do you live in some kind of dictatorship? Because if not, you really should vote these people out of office...

And you should also probably get them arrested on hate crimes or crimes against nature or something.

Thankfully no. And there always seem to be more of those crazies around no matter how many times they get voted out or exposed as corrupt or secretly super villains.

Maybe we can see if we can't convince the Emperor to send you to my universe when this is over. [He smiles to show he's only joking... but just barely.]

[Victor gave a little laugh.] Not that I'm opposed to a good looking guy inviting me back to his place, but I don't think she'd go for that.

You're right, she doesn't like anything that might make us happy.

And I've got a couple people that'd never forgive me if I didn't go back home.

Oh right, you're a member of a team back home... right?

[He nods.] The X-men.

Then there's my parents too. They're still upset with me for running away from home...if I skipped out to another universe, they might explode or something.

How come you ran away from home? O-only if you want to talk about it, I mean....

Well...[Victor takes a deep breath. He trusts Mark and Emma had said it'd help to talk about it even if he was supposedly a lot better now than he had been back when still getting psychic therapy.]

Back home there was a big, huge fight. And at the end of it, the guy that founded the X-men was shot. Everyone thought he was dead...so the team's leader and his girlfriend just decided to disband the team and close the school. We didn't get any options of our own...they just...sent us all away. Used telepathy to force anyone that disagreed. I went back to Fairbury...and I thought things would be fine. I mean they just about threw me a parade.

[He gives a smile but it's a bitter one.]

Went back to school and thought I'd have a leg up on everyone but I was really wrong. Turns out you don't learn much when your school's constantly getting blown up and you're getting put through hell...literally. I didn't feel like I fit in with any of my old friends anymore...and I was kind of messed up in general. Jumping at things, always feeling like something would pop out and attack...I mean...my dad broke a cup once and I almost tore his head off. I couldn't stay...so I just...packed up, left a note, and took off. One of my old teachers from the X-men showed up and tried to talk me into coming back but I ended up breaking his nose instead...

[Mark listens quietly while Anole tells his story.]

I get it, man...

It's really hard, hanging out with people that don't think the world is going to end every four seconds. Even when they think they know, they don't. I can't tell you the last time I've seen my own best friend because it's at the point where it's too hard to talk to him.

It's something no one ever mentions about this whole powers thing...

[He sighs.] At least we can punch the super villains...and we've got one another to hang out with.

My dad was a hero. I thought I knew what I was getting into... it wasn't until he left that I realized he never had any friends either. Well, other than our tailor. And my mom.

Are you part of a team back home?

Man...at least two is better than none.

[He nods.] I'm one of the younger X-men. Even if Wolverine and the others insist we're just students again, my classmates and I are a team. Especially after everything that's happened.
