Greetings. I am Commander Spock of the USS Enterprise, a Starfleet contingent of the United Federation of Planets. I understand that we are temporally isolated as well as spatially displaced and that this is not a subdivision of any one possible multiverse, neither a pocket dimension of any one universe, but a unique quantum singularity linking many and each possible variation thereof. If others here have scientific findings of this nature, I pre-emptively extend my gratitude in the event of any information being divulged.

[ AKA pls share ur theories. He's not human, in case anyone with eyes and ears missed the blatant memo staring them in the face, the approximation of what would happen were a dollop of raw science and a great jawline to get mixed with an elf in a blender. Spock pauses thoughtfully, glancing away, and a single slender brow arches when he looks back; there are likely a great deal of customs to be observed from numerous new species and races, none of which he seeks to offend. ]

It has been brought to my attention that this is not my first foray into Keeliai. While I would request that you exert a measure of patience with my ... freshly acquired outlook, you will find me amenable to revisiting former acquaintances. [ Again he hesitates, though this time it comes across as more of an amendment. If you've been hanging out with his BFF, prepare to explain why, how and to what end. ] Similarly, I wish to meet with any and all allies of Captain James T. Kirk at their earliest convenience.

All remaining Starfleet personnel are to submit a fully comprehensive report effective immediately regarding their time here. Audio will suffice, given the circumstances.

[ And off goes the feed. ]

Most people can't handle them, but they're pretty good. [All said because she's been eating them most of her life. She's not biased, nooo.]

But really, we met when I was starting to learn to read and write English. That's when the Captain came over and we got to know each other. I told him about my world and he told me about Starfleet and the Enterprise.

[Her eyes flick over the badge on his shirt.]

[It and the shirt were just like the ones she wore in Jim's dream.]

No. We don't have starships, replicators, tricorders, or anything like that back home. [Korra gives a lopsided frown and leans on one elbow as she turns on the unhackable custom encryption Tony made for her.]

Did Jim tell you about his leg? [She knows Jim doesn't like to bring it up, so best to ask it privately.]

[Korra open her mouth and then closes it, trying to figure out just why Jim would do that to his commanding officer.]

It was broken in a bar fight and he needed a metal plate to hold it together. [Now she knows why he didn't like to bring it up, it almost felt wrong to do so.] The next time he came to visit me, I sat him down [Yes, she managed to wrangle down one James T. Kirk.] and healed up the spiral fracture.

[And she takes a breath like she's about to continue, but she stops and exhales with a nod.]

[A few blinks.] You're welcome. Not like I'd leave my friend hobbling around with a cane, you know?

[Small shrug.] He's the reason why I started volunteering at the clinic.

[She sends the exact location via message, in near proper English.] It's in the Earth Sector by their biggest fountain, can't miss it.

[Her and Bones were still rather rocky, but she gives a half grin.] I already had plans to, but sure thing, Spock. [She inclines her head and raises an eyebrow.]

Or Commander? Which is it?

[That unexpectedly angers her, hitting that sore spot that she told Jim about. How she wanted to belong to him too, the Kyle did. Her upper lip twitches and she takes a couple of moments before responding, reminding herself that he didn't mean anything by it.

Were it not for Bruce Banner's instruction in anger management, she would have snapped back.]

All right. Spock then. You can just call me Korra, or if you're feeling formal: Avatar Korra.

I'm not agitated. [Her defiant tone isn't helping her.]

You want the long or short story? [She's gone through the explanation quite a few times and seems pretty indifferent either option.]

[Her brow knit together and she opened her mouth just enough to show her teeth before she realized that he's right. Slumping back in her chair, she crossed her arms and blew out whatever guff of air she had pent up for a retaliation.] Fine.

[Taking a deep breath, she starts off:]

My world has Four Nations. The Water Tribe, the Earth Kingdom, the Fire Nation, and the Air Nomads. Sometimes people are born with the gift to bend.

That is, they can manipulate the element of the nation they were born in. So a firebender would be from the Fire Nation and an earthbender would be from the Earth Kingdom.

[Korra actually gives a fleeting grin. Whenever she gave that example, it was always with Mako and Bolin in mind.]

Now the Avatar is actually the spirit of the planet in physical, human form and exists to maintain balance in the world. Mostly when it comes to bending since the Avatar is the only one who can bend more than one element. All four actually, and I’ve got them all down. Well, I’ve almost mastered Air anyway.

[Both her feet go onto the desk and she idly sways her boots back and forther while explaining.]

When the Avatar dies, their spirit gets reincarnated to a bender from the next nation in the cycle. Earth, Fire, Air, and Water is the order it goes in. I was born in the Southern Water Tribe, which means the last Avatar was an Air Nomad. Each time the Avatar is born, they have to learn the elements and fulfill their role as protector of the people.

There's also the Avatar's connection to the Spirit World, but I haven't had much experience with that part yet. [She is just seventeen after all. Not a spiritual prodigy like SOME OTHER Avatars were.]

Oh. And I can also talk to the spirits of the past Avatars, but that's kind of a new thing for me.

[Mention of the Archive makes Korra raise her eyebrows. There isn’t much that she knew about the girl, and it’s interesting to her that he drew that parallel when Jim had gone with the Dalai Llama.]

Each Avatar is different, some of them have an easy time getting in touch with their spiritual side and others have been like me. [She blew a raspberry and then waves it off.]

It’s a work in progress, doesn’t help that I don’t have a spirit mentor here either. [She shrugs.] After I get the hang of contact the past Avatars, things should pick up.

[She observes him for a minute and thinks about how they’ve been going back and forth before just blurting out her assessment:] Jim must have hated you when he first met you.

[That makes her set both her boots on the edge of the desk, forcing her chair to tilt back while she rubs her face.

WHY. IS. THIS. HAPPENING. TO. HER.]

Yeah, a lot of times. It worked once, a little, and another time it ended up putting me here on Tu Vishan instead of the Spirit World. [So…yeah.]

[She’s just not fond of the idea of sitting still and doing nothing. As the Avatar she has to be doing something somewhere. Her lessons with Bruce were mainly focused on controlling the flow of anger, and less on meditation itself.]

What’s a touch-telepath? [She’s not saying no, just curious how this would be different Tenzin. He meditated every day as well and that didn’t pan out so well.]

[During his explanation, it dawns on Korra that was what he used on Jim when he was last on Tu Vishan. What Jim learned of his future from Spock didn’t turn out to be the most fun conversation. Her lips form the smallest “O” in existence.]

That sounds different from how waterbending can ease mental stress. [She takes a moment to look at Spock before deciding.]

We can give it a shot, see if it works. [Always wanting to get everything right the first time.]
