Greetings. I am Commander Spock of the USS Enterprise, a Starfleet contingent of the United Federation of Planets. I understand that we are temporally isolated as well as spatially displaced and that this is not a subdivision of any one possible multiverse, neither a pocket dimension of any one universe, but a unique quantum singularity linking many and each possible variation thereof. If others here have scientific findings of this nature, I pre-emptively extend my gratitude in the event of any information being divulged.
[ AKA pls share ur theories. He's not human, in case anyone with eyes and ears missed the blatant memo staring them in the face, the approximation of what would happen were a dollop of raw science and a great jawline to get mixed with an elf in a blender. Spock pauses thoughtfully, glancing away, and a single slender brow arches when he looks back; there are likely a great deal of customs to be observed from numerous new species and races, none of which he seeks to offend. ]
It has been brought to my attention that this is not my first foray into Keeliai. While I would request that you exert a measure of patience with my ... freshly acquired outlook, you will find me amenable to revisiting former acquaintances. [ Again he hesitates, though this time it comes across as more of an amendment. If you've been hanging out with his BFF, prepare to explain why, how and to what end. ] Similarly, I wish to meet with any and all allies of Captain James T. Kirk at their earliest convenience.
All remaining Starfleet personnel are to submit a fully comprehensive report effective immediately regarding their time here. Audio will suffice, given the circumstances.
[ And off goes the feed. ]

I am curious about the belief system you adhere to. May I request that you switch to the viewscreen again?
text-->video;
[ But he'll roll his eyes and turn the video feed back on, giving the screen a rather halfhearted wave. ]
So here we are, on video again...
video;
... Jim?
Re: video;
No, it's Jack. Wait, did you just call me Jim?
[ one... two... wait for it... ]
Hey, you heard me!

[ Got a little too invested, but this is very interesting. ]
Re: video;
No, no one's ever mentioned it before. Hey, do you suppose if I turned the video off and on again, you'd see me?
[ He's joking... mostly. ]

Re: video;
[ In for a penny... ]
Legendary or... mythical figures?
video;
Vulcans do not lie, nor do they embellish.
Re: video;
Yeah this probably isn't going to get very far.
video;
How can you have mythological origins if you are real? Fantasy becomes fact.
Re: video;
You're the one that said magic doesn't make sense.
And for the record you didn't win any points with the crack about the kids, either. Leave the childhood inspiration to the pros.
video;
Why would children require inspiration beyond a realistic work ethic and attainable goals?
Re: video;
[ Spock's reply makes Jack splutter slightly; half indignance and half just choked how dare you. ]
Because they're kids, not little machines! Because--
[ An unnecessary breath gusts out a second time; how strange that talking with Spock seems to draw out that long buried instinct and he continues, quieter. ]
Because they'll grow up. Maybe some of them will have good lives and maybe some won't but they'll have to deal with too many rules and make bad decisions and get stuck in situations where there isn't a right choice no matter what they try. So even if it's pointless or it seems silly or weird, kids should be able to believe in things... hope for things, find wonder when they can't explain something, have good dreams... have fun.
Those are the kind of memories they're supposed to keep for the rest of their lives. Maybe it'll get them through rough spots when just being an adult doesn't cut it.
video;
Dreaming is an emotional avenue that Vulcan children are not permitted. Logic is the savior of my race and we adhere to it stringently, willingly, from a young age. To do otherwise is shameful and grounds for banishment.
[ Like Sybok's, but he doesn't mention his older brother to Jack. No one discusses him anymore. ]
A Vulcan cannot entertain emotion, we find it distasteful. To do so would mean their destruction and, as such, our young are safeguarded by the teachings we have adopted. [ A brow quirks. ] There is not a Vulcan child in existence who would agree with you, Jack. This should not cause you distress because it is simply unalterable fact and you are hosting grief that they would not only turn their back on, but scorn.
[ Jack might not recognize it yet, but he just received some very important advice. Spock is well aware how xenophobic his people are and to be chastised in this way would offend a great deal of them. As it is, he's lived with humans a while now. Spock is accustomed to them believing that logic is somehow harmful or a proverbial chain around Vulcans' necks, when it is in actual fact more closely comparable to a very proactive religion. ]
I suggest you reconsider your approach to other species in the future, rather than taking offense when their beliefs clash with your own. It is illogical and arrogant to assume you are always correct.
Re: video;
And yeah, I was talking about human children but here's the thing: what I'm talking about, kids decide for themselves. No one's forcing belief on them, you can't. And there's sure as hell no one hanging around threatening "shame and banishment" for them if it doesn't end up being something they need.
So don't compare the two again.
[ And with that, he hangs up with far more force than necessary to end a call. ]
