[There's a short silence before Costigan speaks. When he does, it's probably the most tentative he has ever sounded.]

I can't tell you what happened. I wasn't a part of this world, but now I am again. Maybe I was dreaming, maybe I was a spirit, I don't know.

[Another pause. You can hear the frown.]

I need anyone who knows me to contact me.

And I might need a doctor.

What's your name, kid?

... oh no.

[ No no no. ]

It's Jack. Jack Frost? Why don't you recognize my voice like usual?

It's fine, kid. I'm just a little confused, alright?

Jack Frost. Sure. Spirit of Winter.

[ A huge exhale of relief at that. He does know me. It's all right. ]

Okay, good. Jeez, don't do that to me again, asking my name like you don't know who I am! I swear if I had to start meeting you all over again I'd-- well, let's not go there.

What are you confused about? And why did you ask for a doctor?

[There's a short silence.]

Look, I don't know you, but I have reason to believe I've forgotten some of the people I'm supposed to know. You have any uh, any stories or- or evidence of how we know each other?

[ Jack swallows hard but reminds himself that this is just an effect of whatever happened, this has nothing to do with belief, with Costigan's actual perception. That helps and so does the fact that the man can still hear him and the spirit finds solace in that. ]

Then you've definitely forgotten, for right now.

[ Because it's not permanent. It simply can't be. He casts around for something to confirm the inquiry. ]

You're a Red Sox fan and you told me about listening to the games with your dad on the radio and when you went to Fenway. I brought you that Sam Adams glass that's in your apartment after I found it during the landfall in Atam. Umm... oh!

[ He quickly gets up, the audio picking up the sound of a drawer opening and closing and then he comes back to sit, flicking it over to video feed. It shows a carefully propped up postcard of old Fenway, and then Jack turns it around to show Costigan's own writing on the back. ]

You gave me this.

[Costigan flicks over to video shortly after Jack does, because the postcard's pretty good evidence. He then stands and walks away to go find the glass Jack is referencing without cutting the feed. He gives a small nod as he returns and takes his seat again.]

I trust you. [It's an observation. Costigan might not remember the guy, but he knows himself well enough to know he wouldn't share details or mementos like that lightly.]

You have any idea why I can't remember you?

[ Yes. You told me you'd be the guy in my corner, who's got my back if things get rough, Jack thinks though he doesn't want to say it aloud. There's proof and then there's just too much to throw at someone when they have no context. So instead he agrees easily. ]

Yeah, you do.

I'm not sure but whatever being... like that was, it's affected a bunch of people. Julie came back blind. Korra can't remember anything. Nobody's even sure what caused it yet.

[Costigan runs a hand over his face. His expression is aiming for frustration, but there's an edge of desperation to it that's rarely, if ever, seen on the undercover's face normally.]

Blindness and amnesia make more sense. I remember this place and who I am and even some of the people here, but not everyone. That kind of forgetting feels intentional. Not by me, but by whoever- whatever did this. It's pointed. Targeted.

What do you remember doing before it happened?

What do you mean?

Before you disappeared or before you.. forgot, people. Not sure how better to explain it, sorry. Did anything strange happen?

No, nothing. I was out for my morning run when things changed and I shifted or whatever you want to call it. I don't know when I forgot people.

All I know is.. Now I'm back, I have these messages and these notes and things, but I don't know who they're talking about, most of them, or where they came from.

I don't know how to fix your memories yet but... is there anything I can do to help until we do get that solved?

You have any idea who else I know? Or who I can trust?

I know people that you've talked to before but that isn't anything you can't get from rereading what you've already written. You don't talk much about other people with me... You're kind of a closed book.

I know. [Because he still remembers himself perfectly well.]

What about Kyle Raynor? Any idea?

You can trust Kyle, for sure.

[ He doesn't have any issue recommending that, which speaks highly of the Lantern given that Jack's personal interactions with Kyle have been at both ends of the spectrum in the last year. ]

[ The fact that he asks makes Jack smile, wryly but pleased. ]
