Video 001
[Amelia is sitting straight up, looking directly at the screen. Hands folded in front of her, the very pose exudes authority; this is a woman who knows she is of rank.]
I am Captain Amelia of the Terran Royal Navy, lately returned from an expedition to locate the lost trove of the infamous pirate Nathaniel Flint, and more recently rather unceremoniously drenched in a tub of water and informed that I am to be engaging in a conflict against a malevolent entity of which I have not heard until today.
[A measured pause. Her tone indicates she is more irritated by the idea of fighting someone else’s war, rather than the prospect of combat itself. Or perhaps it is the drenching she is cross about.]
I do not care for being brought here against my will, especially if I do not know the how of it. These kedan are maddeningly unhelpful when questioned on such topics. They tell me that time has been stopped in my universe, which, if true - highly doubtful, of course - is of some relief. But if I am to stay here for an extended tenure, there are important questions that I must have answered. This…
[and here she pauses for a moment to pick her words. Amelia is not given to superstitions regarding the summoning of a monstrous being simply by speaking his name, but the kedan were very adamant about not saying it, and this has been a rather strange day. Best to not risk it, then.]
...M-fellow. I'd like to know more about him. If I have indeed been brought here to fight a war, then it is imperative that I know what I shall be dealing with. In addition, is it true we are riding on the back of a giant turtle?
[This last question is accompanied by nearly palpable disbelief.]
[The next pause is not one of calculation or thought, but of expectancy. Amelia’s waiting for her answers, and it’s only after the silence has gone on for a few seconds that she realizes replies will not be instantaneous.]
That’ll do, for the moment, so as not to overwhelm you.
[It’s a save, but she says it like it was always planned that way. She nods her head once at the screen, just ever so slightly.]
That is all.
[end transmission]

But yeah, we're on the back of a turtle, as I'm sure others hawe clarified for you already. Ain't nothin' all too special, really. [Not that his planet had turtles with cities on their backs, but he definitely had giant aquatic life.]
Re: [video]
On the contrary, it is quite unusual. I’ve never heard of a creature of this scale existing in my own universe, and I dare say I am rather well-traveled.
Then you must hawe been in some downright borin' parts of the uniwerse. Poor thing, leawes one wonderin' just what sort of trawelin' you did if a giant shellbeast can leawe you dazzled.
Re: [video]
'Dazzled' is not the word I would use. [Amelia's actually a bit offended that this... youngster would imply he's more traveled than she, a noted captain of repute in the Royal Navy. Not that she'll let him know, of course.] And I suppose you have sailed your own universe far and wide, at your youthful age.
[Eridan looks slightly amused at her offense. Sorry, Amelia, trolls like to stir trouble.]
Afraid I ain't as traweled as I'd like to be, though my race has done its part in--well, conquerin' a good portion of our galaxy. I'we got tomes documentin' such excursions and military skirmishes, so what wonders there are I'we seen--ewen if only second hand. Still, ewen bein' planet bound, I wasn't amazed at no shellbeast.
[But then again, being raised by a giant white seahorse does a good job of removing the wonder out of oversized beasts.]
Re: [video]
[Ah, so the boy is not as traveled as he previously implied.]
In my experience, first-hand knowledge is always preferable, although that can be hard to come by if one is unable to leave their homeworld. As for beasts of this immensity, perhaps they are simply non-existent where I come from.
If you happen to have any of those military tomes with you, I would not mind perusing them myself.
[He sighs.]
Beliewe me, I was lookin' forward to bein' able to trawel the galaxy with my own ship an' ewerythin'. But, shit just ain't in the books anymore. [However, her interest in his tomes definitely makes his expression brighten.]
Yeah I got 'em, but I'm sure you'll understand if I ain't exactly too keen on lendin' them out to someone I just met. They're kinda important to me. Perhaps if I get to know ya better, I may reconsider.
Re: [video]
Traveling the galaxy by ship is a wonderful experience. A shame you did not have the chance to do so. [Amelia narrows her eyes as he curses again, but allows it to slide this time without reprimand.]
Perfectly understandable. I would not lend out my belongings to a complete stranger either. [Okay, she’s a bit disappointed.]
[He nods. It really was a shame.] I mean, granted, I wasn't completely planet bound, but I didn't exactly get to explore my uniwerse, kinda got sucked into a whole different plane of existence. [A beat.] Long story.
Perhaps sometime later. [Which is Eridan's way of saying he wouldn't mind getting to know Amelia better. She's kind of cool, and he can respect military types. He wanted to be something of a Dreadmiral or Maritime Overlord, or whatever in the Alternian military, after all.]
Re: [video]
[Amelia tilts her head to the side; this is not what she expected to hear.] Perhaps you could go into detail at a later time, if we meet face-to-face. A long story is not suited for being told over these consoles.
I will look forward to it, Mr. Ampora. [And that's her way of saying she has no problems with becoming more familiar with Eridan.]
[He nods, a sanctimonious smile crossing his features.] Mayhaps ewen ower tea? [Totally not hitting on her. He's naht.]
As will I.
Re: [video]
You have good taste, Mr. Ampora. Shall we meet within the next few days? [She thinks you're just being polite at this point, Eridan.]
Of course I do. And, one sec lemme check my schedule--don't need plans ower lappin' and such. [He is so full of shit, he just wants to sound important. However, he does act like he's looking at something off screen, like some sort of date planner or something. In reality, he isn't looking at anything but a blank writing pad.]
--Hmm, I got a few openin's, surprisin'ly enough, when would be a good day for you? Might be easier that way.
Re: [video]
Two days from now, perhaps? You are likely more familiar with the locales than I, so I will leave the location up to you.
[He more mouths the words than says it, again pretending to look at his 'schedule'. His eyebrows raise, and he looks back to the feed.]
Yep, that works! Tell me, do you like sushi? I know a this nice little place, has amazin' tea and sashimi. An', of course, other entrees if fish ain't exactly your fancy.
Re: [video]
[At this rate she's going to learn where all the best places to eat are by simply having introduced herself on the network.]
[That's just the price she has to pay for being so gorgeously feline. He does send her the name and location to the place though.]
What's a good time for you? I know humans tend to be diurnal, are you the same?
Re: [video]
[Not that she knows what eff-why-eye means, but she doesn't feel like asking. Amelia nods her appreciation upon receiving the precise directions.]
I mostly operate on a diurnal schedule, yes, although if the need arises I can work at any hour. A luncheon would be nice.
[Laying it on rather thick there, Eridan.]
Then a luncheon it is! Fantastic, so I'll see you around noonish?
