[This is Asami. This is Asami wrapped up like an enchilada in a thick, dark red blanket while she faces the screen. It's her first time with a recording like this—the technology is beyond even the movers Varrick produced—so she proceeds self-consciously.

That isn't to say she wasn't eager to try it out. The tape on the side of her console is indication of that, but it's out of sight of the viewer.]

Well, here I am. I've had some time to think about what I wanted to say, but to be honest I don't even know where to begin.

But we're all comrades here, right? So my name's Asami, and I'm a... [businesswoman? What kind of sales approach is that? She straightens her back.] I'm the chief executive officer of my family's company at home in Republic City. We're known for our automobiles and weaponry, and I have experience with each of our products. Not that I see myself getting comfortable here, but if I can make myself useful in a company running somewhere along those lines, then I think that would be a good place to start.

[She visibly deflates after the spiel, mustering a small smile.] So I guess I'll see you guys around! Go ahead and introduce yourselves if you have time. I think I could use some faces to call familiar.

Dunno how much use there are for— [ A beat; then he says the following slower, like it's a completely foreign word to him that he's attempting to pronounce right ] —automobiles around here, but weapons? What kind?

[ Another pause. ]

Though, I haven't seen any reason to use those often, either.

[Why, there's always a use for automobiles, but there's no sense in disputing that now. There's a short beat before her response, because she's looking for an explanation.]

Well, we have what's called a "mecha tank." It's humanoid in a loose sense of the word—essentially it has arms and legs, and you pilot it from the inside. So that's the big contender right there.

[andallbite]

—What?

[ He understood very little of that, having no concept of machines you could pilot. Or most machines at all, really. ]

A humanoid machine? How's something like that supposed to be a weapon?

[chittybang]

It makes sense if you think about it. A person has a wider range of motion with four limbs to work with than a straight-shooting missile on a set of wheels. A mecha tank is just larger, packs a bigger punch and can perform more functions than the average person. I take it you guys haven't developed anything of the sort around here?

[andallbite]

[ ... He can't even begin to imagine what something like that must be like. ]

That—no. I've never seen anything like that before.

[chittybang]

I see. And you said there isn't much use for weapons around here, right? [A small shrug.] Sooo there wouldn't be any reason for me to be showing around blueprints.

[andallbite]

I don't care about blueprints. [ He wasn't much of a technician at all; seeing the actual thing is more ideal for him. ] But... you're right. For all the talk we get about being here for a war, there sure isn't a lot of fighting going on.

[chittybang]

[But... OTHERS MIGHT... is what she implied. So Asami pauses, looking a little put-off for a second.]

It must be an unconventional war, then. We're supposed to be subject to odd behaviors now and again, aren't we?

[andallbite]

Are we?

[ He sounds confused, because it's the first he's heard of it. Actually, he's not even sure what "subject to odd behaviors" is supposed to entail. ]

... Dunno, you're better off asking someone else. I don't know everything about this place. [ Or, well, much at all. ]

[chittybang]

[Now she's second-guessing.] I thought I'd heard something in passing... Did you arrive recently as well?

[andallbite]

About a month ago, give or take. I don't think that's very long compared to some others that're around.

[chittybang]

It's a month longer than me. I met someone who's been here for a year and a half... but he said that isn't very typical. So who knows, maybe it's a matter of time before we're out of here.

[And, well, apparently she didn't last as long the first time she was here... but thinking about it (and not remembering) depresses her, so she refrains from saying anything about it.]

[andallbite]

[ The same goes for him, as well—he has a hard time wrapping his head around it, however, so he mostly ignores it. How he could forget somewhere like this, he'll never know. ]

I'm hoping you're right. I'm already tired of sticking around, war or no.

[chittybang]

I'm already a little homesick, myself, but I'm lucky my friends are here. I figure this is best case scenario.

Speaking of company, I don't think I caught your name.

[andallbite]

Yeah. Can't imagine getting dumped here without anyone else you know around.

[ Armin being here as well was one hell of a lifesaver, that's for sure. ]

Oh. Right—the name's Eren Yeager.

[chittybang]

Eren Yeager, it's a pleasure. So what do you normally do around here?

[Ideas, she needs them.]

[andallbite]

[ Ha ha ha... He just shrugs, himself. ]

I look around, see what's here; most of this stuff is new to me. Other than that, well... I'm not too crazy about trying to settle in or anything.

[chittybang]

Can't say I blame you. I still want to figure this place out, I just don't really know where to begin.

[Although absorbing the ins and outs of a city in just a few days is an unrealistic goal, so.]

Just walking around and seeing where you end up helps. Kind of. At least you'll know where some thing are from it.
