[It took nearly three tries after stumbling out of bed for Midii to remember the proper button-pushing procedures, and clearly even longer to realize (and subsequently not care) that her hair was still a mess. A mess she was now publicly broadcasting, completely with a stiffened yawn and weary rub at her eyes.]

[Still clinging to the 24+ hours sleep she had unexpectedly succumbed to, her voice was groggy. Her mind, unfocused. Her words, uncensored.]

I fell asleep in the park. I think. But then I woke up here. I...don't remember anything else since then.

[There had been...a little girl crying. She remembered that much. What happened to that little girl? The paranoia began to sink in, and despite herself, she visibly frowned. Suddenly nervous.]

Is this another one of those magic things that keep happening around here?

((ooc: Midii was one of the people attacked by Bakura's summons. Her memories are a bit groggy at the moment, but as time passes, she might remember more and more of the incident.))

Good. You're right, that is the opposite. I should hate to see you harmed. I'm glad you are awake- do you need anything, p'tite?

I'm not sure yet. Part of me wants to go back to sleep. I still can't fully think straight right now.

You should stay awake. Perhaps a shower? [Rain stalls, as she'd been calling them, Eponine had been told were called showers.]

Do you think that'll work?

Usually, the warm water is really soothing. I've... [A brief flash of guilt passes over her face. One that only those who'd lived the kind of lives she and Eponine had might understand.] ...taken one just about every night since I figured out how to turn the hot water on. Right before I go to bed.

[Given what a luxury they had been back home. Either no money for hot water, or no resources for a shower stall out in the middle of a battlefield. To have access to such things so easily? It was still almost as unbelievable as the magic that powered this land.]

I, too, take them often. [She smiles. The showers were amazing contraptions. Rain in a stall. Eponine, when she first discovered the shower, after arriving, she'd spent hours in there, shampooing and soaping herself over and over again until every bit of dirt and blood was long gone.

It was a miracle.]

Perhaps if it was not so warm, it may wake you up. Or coffee!

[Her nose scrunched up slightly at the thought of subjecting herself to another cold shower. The latter suggestion sounded more appealing.]

That might work.

But I only have tea. It's good, but it's not strong enough.

Then have lots of it! With sugar!

[Maybe it was the lingering haze of oversleep, but Midii found that suggestion humorous enough to chuckle softly. Placing a hand to her lips when she realized what she was doing.]

That's not what I meant. I'm used to the really, really strong stuff. You know--bottom of the pot, you can practically chew on the left over grounds?

Tea is more like the hot shower. It puts me to sleep before it ever wakes me up.

Oh, yes. Then... Then perhaps jump into the snow? The cold always wakes me up, makes it so I cannot sleep.

[...yeah, sure. While not.]

Maybe I'll try that on the way to the store to pick up some coffee.

Does it work for you?

Perhaps.

I never had to jump into the snow. I have had to try to sleep in it.

That doesn't sound very comfortable.

[MIdii's had to sleep in the cold before, but never directly in a pile of snow. She was too little and would have succumbed to the chill far too easily.]

No. It was not.

It was under a bridge, and so cold I could not sleep, nor did I want to. We huddled together, and I was so hungry I could hear and see things that were not there! We were near the Seine.

I know that river. It still flows, even in my time.

[Several hundred years after Eponine's]

Why did you sleep there? Papa always told me it was colder by the water.

For there was nowhere else to go.

But Paris is so big. There was really nowhere else?

Nowhere we could afford.

We had no home that winter.

[Not quite what Midii had meant. In her time, there were several options for the homeless. Shelters. Legal loopholes allowed for certain squatting rights under proper conditions. Honestly, even the back alleyways of the worst parts of the City were better, as the tall buildings would at least shield them from the worst of the wind.]

[But then, maybe none of these things were made available in Eponine's time.]

You have a home now.

I do.

[She says it with pride. Her own home, with food and a bed and warmth.]

I shall not have to experience that again.

Hopefully, none of us will.

[There were talks of a War going on here as well. Personally, Midii preferred this kind of War over the kind back home.]

Eponine, would you...like to come to the store with me? To get coffee.

Maybe we can drink it together too.

Of course! I should love nothing more.

You're not too busy?

I am never too busy for you, p'tite.

[There's that wonderful feeling again. Of being loved unconditionally. One of the many reasons why she almost never wanted to leave Keelai; if only Papa and her brothers would show up. Then everything would be perfect.]

Where would you like to meet? I don't mind walking.

Wherever is between the both of us. And near a shop where we can purchase coffee.
