[Good afternoon, everyone. Today, your console has been graced with the presence of one distinctly alien face. The smile he directs at the camera is both gentle and pleasant, though his black eyes are utterly unreadable.

Musingly:] I was told that I was brought here to fight a war against a foe we are not permitted to name, though first I am to procure employment so that I may stay in the comfortable accommodations that have been made for me. [These comfortable accommodations are, in fact, in the Water Sector. They're not luxurious to many, but they certainly are to him.] Which is very odd indeed! In the midst of a war, I had expected something a bit more... sparse.

[He pauses, gaze diverted out the window to where he knows people and a bustling city await further exploration, but he returns his attentions to the screen shortly thereafter.]

Allow me to introduce myself. I am Saint Walker. The people that had welcomed me into this place have been informative, but I'm inclined to seek out alternative sources, and so I turn to you. If you have any information or advice about this place, you would have my thanks. Or, of course, if you've any information about employment. I'm afraid I haven't had a job in the traditional sense in quite some time.

[What he doesn't expect on his return to Keeliai is to sense another ring in the area, a. because even though a few have come and gone he doesn't expect a ringbearer and b. it's weird to feel it being there, like a new splash of paint on his canvas, rather than having a ring explain to him that someone new is in the area. It manifests as a pleasant buzz in his ear, violin music.]

[He sets off looking for the source immediately, and upon tracing it to a Water Sector apartment, floats outside the window.]

[One would think that Saint Walker has had more than enough surprises for the day, but it appears that the universe has one more in store for him. He has to take a moment to stare at the figure in his window in surprise, but it doesn't take long for him to stride towards him, hands still clasped behind him.]

I believe I should be asking the same of you.

[He holds out his hand. A Blue Lantern. Wow. Wow. He's only heard of these guys and it's tough not to be starstruck. Aya's probably never going to let him live this down.]

We are Green Lanterns, and friends.

[There's only a trace of hesitation in him before he returns the handshake; it may not be his own custom, but he understands the meaning behind it.]

And I am Saint Walker, a Blue Lantern.

[He takes a step back as he breaks off the handshake, gesturing for Ion to enter.] Come in. Unless the window is too small, in which case I do happen to have a door.

[His expression lights up with boyish delight. It's like meeting Hal Jordan for the first time all over again.]

The Saint Walker? No way!

[He steps in through the window. Doors were for chumps.]

Am I to understand that your idea of leading a war is more along the lines of what would be considered conventional - with armies and weapons?

In that case, this war will be rather... novel. Not necessarily in good ways, when things get bad, though the interim can be soothing.

[ Beat. ]

My name is Damian. Damian Wayne.

You would be broadly correct in that assumption, yes.

[It's unsettling to see someone so young speaking of war, but he doesn't let his misgivings cross his face, instead inclining his head in greeting.]

It's nice to meet you, Damian, current circumstances aside.

The current circumstances could be worse.

[ But he inclines his head in greeting, in return. ]

This war is nothing like that, so far. Aside from the undead attacking.

The threat here works more in the thoughts of people, twisting them and making them do his bidding, no matter if what they do acts against the people or things they hold dear. Human sacrifices, subversion, poisoning themselves to incite chaos. All these things, acted as though they are the normal things that those people ought to be doing.

This is the kind of war we are facing.

And fear, suspicion, chaos? Only strengthen the threat, weakening the creature who gives life to this place.

[Saint Walker remains still and quiet during Damian's thorough explanation, troubling though it may be.]

In that case, things are worse than I had thought. [A war as he knew it to be was troubling, yes, but fairly straightforward. Manipulation on this level is somewhat less so.]

Would I be correct in assuming that he's using some sort of supernatural ability to accomplish this?

It can kill with a thought. Drain the life of something like the turtle on whose back we are.

So, yes. We know very little in terms of specific facts about it, but assuming supernatural ability is rather safe.

[ Other than the emphasis on Damian's stubborn refusal to personify Malicant, there's little impatient about his explanation. Still a little exasperated, mostly over Eshai destroying all that had been recorded about it and then getting herself killed, but not impatient. Well, not for a twelve-year old, at any rate. ]

Bits of advice... stay on the alert for baby turtles. They are friendly enough, and have a curiosity about the world, I think they would like to know everything, but they ARE quite large, which may be...awkward.

Baby turtles, [he repeats, sounding a little unfamiliar with the word - mostly because he is. There's an entirely new vocabulary of wildlife he is to learn here, after all.] You mean the same sort of creature we're riding upon now?

Ah yes, rather. They look...similar to any images you might have seen of our large turtle, but are naturally a bit smaller. Shelled and such...

[Really, this is more Combeferre's area of conversation than his, he thinks.]

It CAN get odd at first, certainly, and there is a lot to be learned but...it IS worth it I think.

How fascinating! I should like to have the opportunity to see one of these creatures for myself. [He manages to look remarkably cheerful despite just now getting used to being forcibly relocated from his home.] And, of course, learning is always a worthy endeavor. Here especially, I would imagine.

I am certain that will happen likely before too long. It seems that interesting things...and everyone here manage to find their way to us before too long.

[Is that a hint of darkness in his tone? Enjolras is quickly pulling that back, lest he inadvertantly unnerve someone new to all of this.]

As for work, it won't be too tough to find something, I'm sure. The kedan have been pretty agreeable recently.

[Someone had walked him through the basics of using this curious device, but he's not entirely familiar with the concept yet, which means that all Jaime sees for a minute is Saint Walker frowning at the screen, eyes going back and forth as he reads before he realizes that he's still on camera.

He brightens up almost immediately, inclining his head at the screen.]

Ah, thank you for your help! This seems to be very comprehensive.

[He grins and waves-- at least Saint Walker's not trying to attack the console with a lamp. (Boy, Eren was a fun new arrival.)]

It's no problem-- not everybody comes from a place with the same kind of tech, so it's sort of silly to expect it to be common knowledge. If anything else about it's confusing just let me know.

Jaime Reyes, one of those humble Earthlings you hear a lot about. Um, out of curiosity, where is your planet? We hear a lot about aliens where I'm from, but I don't get to meet them often.

[ Jack has gotten so used to people being able to at least hear him right off the bat that he now defaults to video for initial contacts. ]

There's a listing of jobs at the Welcome Center of places that are good with hiring new arrivals. The kedan who took you to your suite should have mentioned it.

Pretty regularly, yeah. But also people who've been here for a while, who are changing jobs or trying new things, or just want to learn more about the city.
