[Hawke gives Akito a look before whistling sharply. Notch perks his head from his resting spot to see Hawke pointing his finger at the boy. Without a word between the, Notch bounds over to Akito and promptly sits on him. The dog's mouth opens in a doggy grin and his tail wags.]

[ Akito lets out a small squeal but promptly begins wrestling with the hound in earnest. He may be human, but he was raised as a weapon and kept in a cage for long enough that his socialization skills are limited to mimicking what he's seen others do. With dogs, he knows they play with bodies and teeth, so that's what he'll do, too. Minus the teeth. ~~Maybe.~~ ]

[Hawke just watches the show in amusement, reaching down to pat Quintus on the head. Seems the turtle hatchling enjoys the show as well.]

Try not to eat him. I think he might give you indigestion.

[Notch barks and continues to wag his tail as he wriggles and squirms to keep Akito pinned beneath him. If Akito wants to throw his weight around in this scuffle then so will Notch, and the war hound weighs a lot.]

[ Akito has very little weight to throw around, but at least he knows how to use it! ]

[Hawke nods his head and continues to pet Quintus. Now that Akito has given up, Notch flops on the boy deciding to use him as a pillow.]

That all depends on how busy my life gets.

I don't think you'll be too busy with the weather the way it is. It's like the whole city has stopped, it's so hot out!

[Notch seems perfectly happy to let this happen. Hawke groans.]

[Fereldan never got this hot and neither did Kirkwall. He can barely go anywhere without his clothing sticking to him.]

You could shave! [ Akito can't think of anyone off the top of his head back home who keeps a beard. they seem more trouble than they're worth. ] But it would be easier to just come to the beach with us, ne?

[ Akito shoots him a dubious look, hardly able to believe that anyone would like to kiss someone with a beard - it would be too scratchy, he thinks. ]

They've already done enough by donating! I didn't want them to go even more out of their way.

[Hawke rolls his eyes but gives in without much of a fight.]

Good! [ he'll snuggle up with Notch some more, because yay dogs. ]

Have you gotten much new information yet? About Mal-nyan or anything else?

My mission was with some people to learn how to, ah... Detect energies that don't really belong? In order to help tell if someone might be compromised by Mal-nyan.

[Suddenly Hawke feels like a character from one of Varric's stories when a plot point just conveniently falls into their lap.]

It's... not really. [ he tries not to sound frustrated by this, but hey, he had high hopes. ] It's like looking for water in an ocean. At least for me. I haven't had a chance to see if anyone else has had any better luck, but whenever I check it's everywhere, with no point of origin.

[Hawke deflates just slightly at that.]

Maybe it's something you just have to get better at.
