[Video]
[The video flickers on to show a large pair of blinking blue eyes, and relays a voice muffled by the ridiculously close proximity to the microphone. ]
“--ng supposed to what? Oh.”
[The blue eyes are suddenly pulled back to a much more comfortable distance, and a girl comes into view, her brows bent as she skeptically looks toward the camera. She looks really tired and worn out...she's new here.]
“Yeah, I guess I’m not really used to the idea of this thing…” [A sigh, and a curl of the shoulders in a shrug. It won't hurt to try, at least.]
[Her expression quickly mellows into a calm but forced bright smile, though worry stays rooted behind a professional, gentle stoic of deep blue.]
“I’m Katara,” [she explains, motioning a slender hand toward her chest.] “And, um.. I guess I’m new here." [Under her breath, she adds:] "Even if… this is a really bad time…”
[She sighs and shakes her head, her brows furrowing as she looks into the camera to explain. Her arms wrap around her absently.]
“A close friend of mine got hurt while protecting me, and I was going to heal him, but now I’m here and I don’t know what’s happened to him. O-Or any of the others…”
[Her eyes widen a little, and she looks down for a moment as if realizing something else as the last words leave her mouth, then returns her gaze to the camera, filled with an urgent determination.]
“Please, if any of you have any news on my world, could you tell me?”

Re: Video;
Um...Yes, that's me.
[her expression shifts, as she tries to place the other girl's face. She's sure they haven't met, but there must be some reason she's so shocked.]
Are you from the northern water tribe?!
[The prospect of finding someone--anyone!-- from her world is exciting, though she's aware she could be very wrong. This girl /looks/ like she must be water tribe, though she's never met her. She'd know if she was from her own tribe, right?]
Video;
[WHY IS SHE SO YOUNG?]
But that's not important. I'm from the Southern Water Tribe. [Breathing. Breathing is important. That and she needs to not put things off like she did with Zuko. There's no reason to, not when she's in a more stable condition than he is.] I'm Avatar Korra. And...you're my waterbending master.
Or, you're going to be.
[Man, if this isn't awkward then Korra has no idea what is.]
Re: Video;
Wait, what? That can't be true... Aang is the avatar, and I've never met you.
[She realizes half a second later how rude she might sound.]
Ah-- Sorry.
Video;
No, I know how confusing things can be when you arrive on the turtle.
[Beat.]
The turtle-turtle.
[But seriously,]
Aang's here too. He's the Avatar before me. [It's still hard to not stare at her young teacher.] Sorry, I've just never seen you. Like, this, before.
Re: Video;
Aang is here? And that's... it's okay. I mean... [She rubs the back of her head and shrugs, somewhat embarrassed. It's really flattering, in a way.]
I'd be kind of freaked out, myself. Actually... this is really weird...
Video;
[A pause, Korra knows that might sound worse than she intended and she grasps for the nearest straw to dig herself out.]
But if you’re looking for your friends, I know Zuko’s here too.
...he’s not old either.
[Korra.]
Re: Video;
[She laughs, feeling more and more awkward. Is she supposed to know this person? Or--wait... not until she's older apparently. So how on earth...Her head is reeling, given these new introductions and all the information she had dumped on her when she arrived. She'll have to get to know this girl better later...and find out how old she may be.
When Korra mentions knowing Zuko is there, however, things come to a complete standstill, and her eyes widen.]
He's here? Not old is good--! What about Aang? And Sokka, and Toph? Suki?
[She's not even pausing as she lists off the people she knows are currently fighting their own battles in the war back home--without her.]
Video;
Aang’s fine, so’s Zuko Toph went back home a while ago. [Korra rubs her arm, the earthbender had been a good friend and she still feels it when she has to say as much.] The other two never arrived. [Seeing her first teacher like this isn’t easy to handle, but Korra’s used to adversity now.]
I’m sorry.
Re: Video;
It's not your fault. At least I know Aang and Zuko are okay. And if the others are home, I'm sure they're okay... [There's a little doubt in her voice, and her brows furrow.]
Wait... If you know me when I'm older, that must mean I made it out of the war...
[A shaky laugh, as if she's not sure how she feels about all of this.]
Do you know what happened...?
[Pause.]
Uh...Unless you're not comfortable talking about it.
[She might gladly drop it if Korra would rather help her find Zuko and Aang. She can't deny she's curious about the outcome of the war though...]
[She's hopeful though.]
Video; Starkryption 100%
No, that's fine. Actually, I'm pretty used to people not wanting to know their future. Makes it hard to remember what I can and can't say.
[That and, well, it's the only bending master she's ever really felt close to. All the same, she puts up the encryption just then to cover herself.]
Fire Lord Ozai is defeated by Aang and has his bending taken away. Both he and Zuko go on to make the United Republic of Nations and its capital: Republic City. So all the nations can exist in peace and harmony.
[So it's supposed to be anyway, Korra looks away briefly with an unsure look.]
And you, well, you grow up to become the world's greatest waterbender and healer. [She grins.] I've never been happier to be someone's student.
...well, you're right next to my airbending master when it comes to that. [Picking between the two for the title of best teacher isn't easy, so she just puts them both at the top.]
Re: Video
I guess it would be a little daunting for some people to know everything...
[In fact, she's not sure she wants to know /everything/, but she listens closely anyway, unable to stop the relieved smile that slowly tugs at her lips.]
I knew he could do it, [She whispers, her eyes closed. It's overwhelming.]
[When Korra tells her her own fate, she beams and meets the girl's gaze again, her cheeks bright with color.]
Really?! [She can't believe it! She tries--and fails a little-- to put on a casual, 'professional' demeanor.]
Well...I'm glad I could help. I'm sure you were a great student. [She then laughs, shrugging openly. Korra seems to be the kind of person who would make a good student, anyway.]
So is that where you're from? This...Republic City?
[She knows Zuko and Aang are okay, and while she must find them soon... She's still curious.]
Video
That's where I've been training airbending and living at for the past few months. Before I got here I mean. But I lived at the South Pole my entire life before that.
[Chuckling, Korra moves the dumbbell she dropped earlier away with the tip of her boot.]
In fact, you're the only other person from the Southern Water Tribe to show up here. So there's a lot of firsts going on for me right now.
[It's a lot, but Korra's been handling her fair share of concerns as it is.]
Re: Video
I can't imagine being the only one from our Tribe in a place like this. I'm really glad you're here, Korra, and if there's anything you need... well. [A grin.] I wouldn't mind becoming a mentor early.
Video
[Korra’s unable to keep from smiling. Home’s always been so far away and unreachable for her, and Katara’s always been a part of it for as long as she can remember. There might be a sense of stability with her on the turtle now, and Korra’s eager for that.]
And hey, if you need anything let me know; food, money, whatever. Okay?
Re: Video
I wouldn't mind that.
[She adds a nod as Korra returns her offer.]
Absolutely. Any chance we can maybe meet? In person, I mean, not just on this... thing. [She taps the screen as she speaks, still not 100% sure about it.]
Video
The first day here is always the hardest one, not just because of that worn out feeling either. But all I need to know is the name of your suite and I can be there.
[She knows Keeliai like the back of her hand, and by what she can see of the room behind Katara Korra’s pretty sure it’s in the Wood Sector.]
Re: Video
Yeah... This place is going to take some getting used to, [she agrees, shrugging a little. She then furrows her brow as she tries to remember her suite number.]
I'm in the Wood Sector? WO-3B? I think.
Video
Yeah, it's not home; but it's a lot closer to ours than anyone else's here. But I know where to go, so give us about fifteen minutes?
Re: Video
Sure thing, Korra.
