25 ❄ ( VIDEO )
Hi everybody.
[ Jack's using a rare working console that he found, partly because he wants to test how they're functioning and because he feels this is important for people to see, that things can get back to normal. ]
I know we're all still finding our footing, but I had an idea to help us get on the right track.
Since our things that were in our houses seem to have, uh, wandered away, it'll be a good idea to make a central list of stuff that's missing. We can keep an eye out for each other's items.
Alternatively, if you've already found something and you don't know who it belongs to, you can bring it by the Welcome Center. I'm going to start rebuilding it... I think it's important that we keep having some kind of public representation in Keeliai.

[She was calmed now, at least over the public network, but Jack would be able to see the sorrow in her eyes as she spoke.]
I can do another sweep of the local markets later. See if anything new's popped up in their inventory.
Re: video
Don't worry, we'll find them.
video
[She wasn't getting her hopes up on that one.]
The box...as far as I know, it should still be under the protection spell. Unless the locals found some way to break it.
Which means the box would remain unopened, and my things would all be inside. Except for the choker. [She hadn't had time to put that away before heading off to the fight; instead, hanging it near her desk, by her bed. She could still picture it dangling from that hook on the wall.] I'd say I should be able to sense to magic surrounding it, but...
...there's too much. Around the whole turtle. It's still impossible to pinpoint one single spell, even now.
Re: video
[ He is determined! ]
video
I know. There's still a chance. There's still plenty of chances.
It'll just...take a while. We have to be patient, and I was never very good at that.

[And it aches that Enjolras must admit this to himself, but there it is, regardless. And it sucks, as they would say, but in case there is a chance of something, he will try.]
My Etienne did some naturalist work and sketches. He had several journals that may be floating around the place, and some books. We had political sorts as well. They would be written in French if that is any help, long shot as it is.
But there IS also the paperweight. [If he sounds brighter here, well, it is a little hope regained, right?]
I...Etienne had an amber stone with a moth inside of it. It was a Christmas present last year. I would certainly like it back if it could be found.
no subject
French, got it. I can recognize French no problem.
[ and read and speak it, in limited fashion ]
Amber... stone...
[ Jack's writing these things down. ]
With a moth. How big is it?

And things from home itself, wherever that is for someone, have turned up in odd places before, on our landfalls, haven't they? Perhaps we will get lucky.
And good.
It is about the size of my fist. I do hope at least that much can be found.
no subject
modscity will take that as a challenge. ]They sure have, I've gotten a few things, and a someone, myself.
[ Though Baby Tooth has since returned home, Jack was grateful for the faerie's companionship for the past year. ]
I'll keep my eye out for it, I promise.

I had a few someones myself, for a while here. It does seem reasonable that we could hope for things like that again.
[Hoping, but not expecting, isn't so bad, really, is it?]
And if you have anything I could look out for, I would gladly do the same.

[There's an obvious edge of sarcasm in his voice that's more playful than hurtful. He already knows that's not going to turn up any time soon.]
All things considered, I don't suppose you need help help in the rebuild, do you? I could probably blow off a little bit of steam with that.
no subject
I wish I had, Sokka.
Funny you should mention that, because I actually need nearly everything inside the building rebuilt. Looters or whoever, they really did a number on the place. How are you at building shelves?
no subject
But shelves? Sure, I can whip that up. It's not like that's exactly the hardest task. Some planks of wood, some nails, and... well, just an ounce of knowhow.
Shall I drop all of the nothing that I'm doing now and come over?
no subject
Today I'm still trying to clear out some of the trashed stuff, how about tomorrow? Unless you want to help with that part too.
no subject
Well you just leave the third to me. [His voice is confident, even though he's hiding that he's going to be guessing a little bit on it. But really, it shouldn't be too hard. It's just a little bit of engineering, and not even that hard of engineering.] We'll get the Welcome Centre up and running in no time.
And tomorrow sounds good. I've got some things to finish up today, but I'll be there tomorrow. I'll even come bright and early if you want me to, and I don't just give that offer to anybody.

video;
[He just wanted to say that first and foremost, but he had things he was missing too. Or well, only one thing that's actually worth looking for.] I, uh... I think I have one thing I'd like to find, but it's a long shot.
Re: video;
Long shot is still better than no shot. What is it?
Re: video;
It was locked when we left so I was hoping maybe it didn't get ransacked like everything else. [As in, he hasn't actually checked.]
Re: video;
A key might be a little harder to track down, since it won't have any distinguishing markings. But if you just need to get it, I can go through the wall and open it from the inside, and we can get a new lock and key made for the door.
Re: video;
You're a genius! Why didn't I think of that? I'm kind of embarrassed now...
