[Genis is feeling all out of sorts. Yes, he'd been told that this massive headache and otherwise feeling completely lethargic and terrible would be gone by tomorrow, and so he would have considered putting this out there until then, but someone had told him that he looked somewhat familiar, that there was some older girl with the same hair colour. And while there were possibly a zillion people in all the infinite worlds out there that he didn't yet know about that had elder girls with a silver-white hair, the description sounded like a shoe-in for Raine. He had to make the post.

[But Genis looks just... terrible. He's tired and just feels just empty, not to mention hungry. You'll see a 12 year old's face just looking like he could use a really really nice sleep. And as a result, he's not afraid to be cranky. Granted, he's always unafraid to be cranky, but that's his excuse at the moment.]

I really hate to gripe about this first thing, but come on. I come straight from one world where I'm hated just for being a half-elf, and now I'm in a world where I'm hated just because I'm not from around here? Greeeeeat. You know, I'm beginning to wonder if there even is a world out there where people don't discriminate against other people for completely stupid reasons.

I mean, what'd you guys even do to the kedan anyway? Did you go out and kidnap everyone's kids or something? Because if it wasn't as big as something like that, I don't know what you could have possibly done to get them to hate you so badly.

[He says this with the most deadpan delivery ever. He then just shakes his head as if just in disbelief that he's already stuck in a world worse than the one he'd just left.]

Okay, at any rate, I don't know who exactly is out there listening to this, but... hey. I'm Genis Sage. I don't suppose any of you know someone named Raine, would you? Anyway, as for me, I guess I'm just a student at the moment, though I really haven't been attending school for a while since I've been travelling around my world for the past while with my sister and my friends. Despite that, I could probably still graduate at the top of my class even without having been diligent on all my homework last year. [He says this with a remarkable amount of pride despite his general malaise of feeling empty and tired.]

Anyway, I'd say that I'm looking forward to meeting all of you soon, but right now I'm much more interested in waiting for this massive headache to go away first. Though I'm told that's supposed to go away tomorrow, so that's one thing going my way.

Well, something like that, though it's a little complicated how they do it. It kind of sort of involves placing a special parasitic crystal on you, and then you have to add a Key Crest on top of it to stop the crystal from depleting your mana and causing your body to go out of control.

That... doesn't sound safe or smart.

Well, Colette did have a pretty bad reaction to it despite having the Key Crest, but apparently that's pretty rare. Something like a million to one odds. But I've never really seen anyone else have a bad reaction if they had a proper Key Crest!

I'm more thinking the first bit, the whole 'if you do this wrong, you die'. Unless you're dying already, I don't think immortality is worth that.

Well, it doesn't kill you or cause your body to transform right away! They're dangerous, sure, but not exactly that dangerous.

But people know that's a risk, right?

Well... not exactly. There was a group of people called the Desians that were running Human Ranches, where they'd kidnap people and experiment on them, usually placing these crystals on them without the proper protection. We ended up finding out all of this stuff as we travelled.

Thankfully, my friend Lloyd's dad is a dwarf, and he knew how to make the Key Crests so that they aren't dangerous.

Well, we didn't know why at first, but the... [Er... half-elf? His sort-of friend?] man behind the Desians was trying to find someone to revive his sister.

[Genis' voice gets kind of quiet as he gets to this part.]

And so he was using these crystals to try to find a body that would host her soul...

That sort of magic, then.

My grandfather was experimenting with that, too. he was born blind, so did all kinds of dubious experiments to get his sight back.

Glad to see it's not just my world that does things like that.

Though really I can't imagine what it would be like to be blind, much less born that way.

I can't either, but that's not really an excuse.

Just because you've lost something doesn't mean it's right to take over someone else's life. Everyone deserves to live their own life.

Well, yeah. Enough to get a general sense of everything at least.

The kedan don't like us. Something about a war. "We" screwed up. I'm just like them. Watch your back.

No one's elaborated that part in any sensible way, really. The kedan so far have just said that our folk did some things they didn't approve of in the war.

A Foreigner killed the first Emperor, the one who put the spell in place. He was executed for that. We also were attacked by cultists which lead some of us to fall under the enemy's control and generally go berserk.

Hmm... guess the spell isn't as smart as it needed to be if it invited someone that was just going to kill the Emperor later on. But I still fail to see how the second one can be blamed on you guys.

People aren't always rational about fear.

Or blame, apparently.

Humans aren't. Why should kedan be?
