[Console] (Video) ❅ The Fourth

(Despite using the console in the Hotel's lobby, Alayne has made herself as comfortable as she would be in her room. She is sitting at a table with pieces of paper placed around her. Three drawings are easily visible: one is a large wolf, another is an equally large hound with a deformed (or injured) face and the last is a bird in a cage. She moves her pencil over the sketch of the bird, adding shadows.)

Choose an animal for yourself. Then think of the animal others would choose for you.

Are they the same?

(She switches to the sketch of the wolf, adding shading there - particularly around its neck.)

If not, why?

(Also, thanks to her lacking her hair dye, the whole of Tu Shanshu can now see that her hair is auburn.)

A wolf...? (She is a little startled before smiling softly.) You are loyal to your pack, fiercely protective... It is fitting.

(The comment about a winged lemur makes her laugh.)

I understand you. Does that make me a winged lemur too? (What even is that...?)

Me? (Here is the difficulty. But she knows the answer. Sansa and Alayne share their animal - no matter how many times a certain knight called her "little bird".) A wolf.

[Sokka smiles very happily. I mean, it's like one of those things that mean a lot despite it being a silly thing to have in common.]

Well, I'm glad you approve of the animal. It means a lot to me. And hey, you're the same animal as me!

Though you? A winged lemur? Nah, I think they're probably a little too silly for someone like you. You'd be something like a cat owl way before a winged lemur.

But a wolf could work too! I just haven't seen the vicious side of you yet.

Perhaps that is why we understand one another so well? Two wolves would surely have something in common.

(Cat owl? The image that surfaces from that name is...comical. And cute.)

What do cat owls sound like?

(Her vicious side, hm? Arya has a vicious side and so do her brothers. Alayne knows she has one too - as Sansa.)

[Sokka can't help but grin a bit.]

Must be. And after all, wolves hunt and protect their own as a pack, so it's easy for us to come together and help each other out!

[Well it is true, though he's totally making the parallels up as he goes.]

Alright, let me see if I can do an impression of one. (ahem) Meeeeow-hoot! It's... not perfect, but... it might work enough to scare one off.

[Right? Right?]

Or, at least, if I do, hopefully we're on the same side, huh? [Pause.] Hey, is something... different... with your hair?

I can't argue with your logic. (The meow-hoot causes quiet laughter.) Your world must be filled with strange creatures! I would like to hear more about them.

(Her discomfort over the change in conversation is lifted at his last inquiry.)

Yes. This...is my natural color. I had used dye on it before.

[There's a bit of lighthearted chuckling over her amusement.]

From as near as I can tell, my world's one of the few worlds out there with completely different animals from most of the rest of them. [He shrugs dramatically at that.] But they're completely normal to me, and it's everyone else's animals are weird.

Like, one animal that was fun was the iguana parrot. It was the companion of some pirate guy that we st–borrowed some ancient scroll from. [Good save, Sokka, not admitting that it was stolen.] It's this medium-sized green bird that walks on four legs and half covered in scales.

We've got an armadillo lion. It's this big, orange-yellow carnivore with four paws and huge armoured scales on its back.

And there's another one, the purple pentapus. I would have expected to only find it in the sea, but we found them in the sewer of a big city. It's like this jellylike head with five tentacles that can latch onto your skin. Hard as heck to get off unless you tickle the head a little.

[Sokka can sense a bit of unease over mentioning the hair colour, so he tries to just pass it off.]

Well, your hair still looks nice. I mean, if you prefer red, that works too, but I kind of like that look.

If you have a talent for drawing, you could give us a picture of each species. (She admits it's for her amusement - or entertainment rather - but she is curious how two species can be combined. Are them seamless combinations or strange?)

The only creatures I can think of that come close in Westeros are Dragons, Unicorns and Krakens. (But, as far as she knows, all of those are either hardly seen or extinct.) How did you learn the subtleties of the...Purple Pentapus?

(Her cheeks color and she bows her head.)

Auburn. My hair is auburn. My mother used to say it was the shade of beaten copper.

Talent for drawing? Do I have a talent for drawing? My good lady, ask and you shall receive.

[Smarmy grin.]

I mean, we've got dragons. Not many left, but they used to be common as mud once upon a time. Though unicorns and krakens would be the sort of animals that I thought people would make up. You know, just like bears.

[Though he pauses on the last bit momentarily.]

So... is beaten copper a compliment? Because copper should still be pretty shiny, right?

[The second half of Sokka's reply come a little bit later. He's certainly spent a little bit of time making his artwork. Carefully considering each stroke and exactly where it should go. Never interrupt the skills of an artiste.

[And so when he finally comes back, he'll hold up three separate pieces, each of which were made with a brush on a sheet of paper. So beautiful.]

Here you go! Armadillo lion... iguana parrot... aaaaaaand... purple pentapus.

[Never mind the ball and goofy tongue that he's added to the armadillo lion, the fact that the iguana parrot does not add fire, and that the pentapus isn't supposed to have six legs. Artistic license.]
