mortalheart: (If I should die)

[It is night, the very earliest of hours in the new day, and Louis is sitting in a dully lit room. The color of the light is a dull blue, and his face is mostly in shadow. The darkness outside and the blue-teal light give his white skin -- what can be seen of it -- a very unhealthy hue. However, his voice is soft and curious in tone, and welcoming in its calmness]

One of my most favorite of memories of my home were the crawfish. Platters full of bright red crawfish, freshly caught, steaming and soon to be bathed in seasoned butter.

[Being in the Water district has brought these distant memories back and they make him smile slightly as he thinks on it. He couldn't now remember what crawfish tasted like but he remembered that he had enjoyed it.]

Do they have here what any of you recall fondly from your own homes? More surprising to me is not what all is different here, but how much is so similar, to what I once knew.

If you want to get poetic about it, this place has people. That's about all you really need in the end.

[ Call him old-fashioned, or easy to please, but it's the little things that matter. Not to mention one could consider it a cop-out if they think about how varied people are. Cain likes the vague answers that sound concrete. Force of habit. ]

[ Tell him about it. Cain knows all too well that people need people, himself most definitely included. ]

Suppose it's not impossible to live that way, but I'll leave it for the ascetics. That said, crawfish is a good thing to have, too. Suppose being on a giant turtle reminded you of seafood?

Yes, I am. From Earth. My hometown is Rome, actually, but I've been traveling for a long time.

[ It's the same thing he's told Klaus, and not actually contradictory to anything else he's said besides. Saying his own city is his hometown imparts truth into it, as well, and there's no reason to not. Except maybe for the fact that his accent is impeccably American right now. ]

You're right,e ven New Orleans isn't a connection I would have made. There are similarities. The drought isn't helping things, but it isn't going to last forever.

[ If they're lucky. ]
