If I understand this right, there could be people here I know, despite that I could swear I just talked to them at home, right? [Luke frowns, looking rather tired as he runs a hand through his hair, sitting at the console in the Welcome Center.] In that case, if anyone knows if Leia Organa or... [A pause, because does it work if the last you knew someone was frozen in carbonite and basically in coma?] Han Solo are here, please tell me. Or tell them Luke's looking for them.
[He smiles briefly, his expression brightening a little in general. Something strikes him then, though, and Luke's gaze lowers for a moment, frowning at something out of view before he looks up again.]
Aside from that, I'd like to know what sort of prosthesis are available, and the tools to repair them. Or if the tools could be adjusted for already existing ones. I don't need any of that at the moment, but you never know.
[Better be as prepared as he can, before something happens, for once. Especially in a new place. He's had his new hand not two weeks yet, and he's very, very aware of it... which is probably why this occurred to him at all.]

... he'd been told Obi-Wan was here. He just hadn't exactly expected this.]
Ben?!
no subject
[That name is unexpected. He had used it as a code name once, but...]
no subject
Sorry. That's all I've known you by, and you never said anything, even after you admitted to being Obi-Wan Kenobi.
[In one of the most drawn-out, strangest (re-)introductions ever. Luke had been a bit too dazed to think much of it then, and afterwards it hadn't really mattered.]
no subject
[This said as Obi-Wan brushed his fingers across his chin thoughtfully. Apparently he had taken on that name at some point during his exile on Tatootine.]
If that's what you'd rather call me, then by all means.
[He certainly didn't mind.]
no subject
[Briefly, he wonders who Kylo Ren is, but leaves that alone for the moment; there's enough to think about.]
You're... How old are you, anyway, Ben? [Luke squints, feeling for some reason far more weird about this than seeing his mother for the first time, barely older than he is. Probably because he's never met her before.]
You know who I am, but I can't be very old if you look... um, like this.
[Even taking into account what Tatooine usually does to the people living there.]
no subject
[Though the question of his age does bring an amused quirk of his lips. Normally asking someone's age is considered rude, but Obi-Wan is a patient man. Besides it's understandable.]
I'm thirty-eight, and you would be right. You were a baby. I was holding you before I came here.
no subject
[More the thought that he was a baby than anything else. Even a little older would've felt less weird. Even more so since Ben had just... Luke looks up, surprised.]
You were holding me? [Something suddenly feels very obvious.] You brought me to Uncle Owen and Aunt Beru, didn't you?
no subject
[He knows this has to be a lot for Luke to take in. He seems to have become the one to give shocking information to those arriving from his galaxy. He's just glad this isn't like his conversations with Anakin and Padme. Also, Obi-Wan has his own questions.]
"I hear you become a Jedi."
no subject
I'm one yet.
[He dredged up a smile, if a bit of a tight one. He was pretty sure you weren't supposed to run off from your teacher after a month. Even if it'd seemed necessary at the time and despite that it'd turned into a disaster and he hadn't actually helped anyone, Luke couldn't bring himself to regret his decision.]
no subject
[At the very least Luke is humble. Something that his father sorely lacks.]
Perhaps not yet, but I have faith in you. I always have.
[While Obi-Wan had only known baby Luke for a short time, he did have faith and hope in what Luke would become. And he can say with certainty that, that wasn't likely to change.]
no subject
[He says it wryly, even if, right now, his claim to not being a Jedi has absolutely nothing to do with being humble. It's all about what happened two weeks ago, and Obi-Wan's comment, while appreciated on some level Luke hadn't even been aware was there, also makes him flinch a little.]
Didn't have it two weeks ago... [The mutter trails away into a groan and he rubs his face with a hand.] Sorry. That's unfair. I hope you're right.
no subject
It seems there's still a great deal I don't know about. Regardless, I am glad to meet you. If you need anything, I'm here.
no subject
I... ah, left Yoda to go help my friends. [The smile is somewhere between pained and amused.] It wasn't a popular decision.
What... What do you know? Aside from that I apparently do become a Jedi?
[It's a bit of a reassurance, that, maybe. He'll just have to try and continue as he has, though while here it should be easier to get more training, at least.]
no subject
Not much I'm afraid. The man who told me was apparently a pupil of yours at one point. He's no longer here.
[He hadn't felt Kylo Ren's presence in a while now. He can only assume that he returned home as what tends to happen around here sometimes.]
no subject
[It hasn't felt like he would, for a good while. After he got sent to find Yoda it seemed like more of a possibility again, but then he had to leave. Or decided he had to, anyway.]
This is strange. [But he smiles as he says it.] But I like the chance you get, like this, since it apparently really doesn't matter when you're from when you end up here.
no subject
[He says this with fond amusement. Obi-Wan had high hopes for Luke when he'd brought him to Tatootine. It seemed those hopes were realized but he was woefully short on details.]
This place does seem to offer a second chance to many who arrive here.
no subject
Uncle Owen--- [Luke pauses, only partly because it still hurts to talk about them, mostly because he just had a revelation in terms of phrasing.]
I think both Yoda and Uncle Owen would agree that I never had my mind where I 'should be'. [But what else was he supposed to do, stuck doing chores and not doing something that demanded his whole attention, like flying? He shrugs.] He also called me reckless. Which... I guess isn't wrong, but usually it's what needs to be done.
[Another little shrug.]
I convinced Han and Chewie to come with me to help rescue Leia when we first met, but I didn't think of a way to get out... I like to think I'm a little better at planning, now, at least.
[He grins easily at that, shaking his head.]
I just... try to help, when I can.
[Luke tries very hard not to think of the most recent time when 'trying to help' turned into 'didn't at all and needed a rescue'.]
no subject
Sounds to me like you inherited a few traits from your father.
[He said this with a fond chuckle. And while he could laugh about that now, some of Anakin's traits could be downright frustrating at times. He can certainly see how Yoda and Owen would think that way.]
I assume Han and ... Chewie are friends of yours? You've also met Leia, then. I'm glad to hear it.
no subject
Yeah, they are. Han and Chewie--- er, Chewbacca, got us off Tatooine, and then ran around with me and Leia on a giant space station. [He grins briefly, rolling his eyes before the confusion is back.] But how do you know who Leia is?
[He hadn't gotten that impression from when they'd watched the whole message - sure, Leia had known who Ben was, but when he'd asked her about it she'd said she'd never met him, it was all what her father had told her.]
no subject
I was there when you and your sister were born.
[He has no idea Luke doesn't know that they're siblings. He assumes that since they've met, they already know.]
no subject
[Caught between sputtering and drawing a sharp breath in, Luke freezes, eyes wide. Then he slumps, one hand briefly over his face, though there's a startled smile there.]
... that makes sense.
[Dropping the hand, Luke blinks as he slowly shakes his head.]
That... explains a lot. It feels like it should be weirder...
[Looking to Obi-Wan, Luke just can't muster any sense of weirdness over it. So much just seems obvious and clear now, from that. Though there's a tiny bit of frustration as to why Ben hadn't told him, but it's lost beneath the wonder.]
no subject
Oh...
Forgive me, I had assumed you already knew.
[This is why you never assume anything! He really should have known better. Even he still has much to learn.]
no subject
[But hindsight makes everything obvious, and no matter how close they got, it was only two weeks ago that Leia heard... Luke shakes his head; that must mean Leia has the Force as well.]
How did we end up where we were?
[Luke frowns, not sure whether to be annoyed or just confused; Leia was raised by the Organas and while he loved his aunt and uncle, Tatooine wasn't really the greatest place to grow up.]
no subject
[He ponders this and Luke's question for a moment before replying.]
Perhaps that's better discussed in person rather than over this network? I would like to meet you face to face.
But I see you've already spoken to your parents. I'm sure they would like to see you as well. So, when you're ready, I'd be happy to meet you somewhere and answer all of your questions.
no subject
So he nods, willing to let the confusion go for now.]
My mother--- [Luke pauses, shaking his head slowly - that's still pretty amazing to him.] should be here soon, so unless you're avoiding her, I'll see you soon enough.
