If I understand this right, there could be people here I know, despite that I could swear I just talked to them at home, right? [Luke frowns, looking rather tired as he runs a hand through his hair, sitting at the console in the Welcome Center.] In that case, if anyone knows if Leia Organa or... [A pause, because does it work if the last you knew someone was frozen in carbonite and basically in coma?] Han Solo are here, please tell me. Or tell them Luke's looking for them.
[He smiles briefly, his expression brightening a little in general. Something strikes him then, though, and Luke's gaze lowers for a moment, frowning at something out of view before he looks up again.]
Aside from that, I'd like to know what sort of prosthesis are available, and the tools to repair them. Or if the tools could be adjusted for already existing ones. I don't need any of that at the moment, but you never know.
[Better be as prepared as he can, before something happens, for once. Especially in a new place. He's had his new hand not two weeks yet, and he's very, very aware of it... which is probably why this occurred to him at all.]

Audio
[The feed is silent for a moment, before a rough, accented voice starts.]
What kinda prosthetics?
Audio
[Luke doesn't sound completely unaffected rattling the list off, especially in such short terms; he's not really used to it, yet.]
Audio
Audio
[Luke pauses as something occurs to him.]
I guess that could be a problem depending on how long I'm here, but they usually last long...
Audio
[A pause.]
And I'm sure we can find an alternative power source that's compatible. Or make it compatible.
Audio
That sounds like a great idea. I could probably figure out something myself with a bit of help since I'm not familiar with what's available, but having an extra power source if something happens is probably a good idea.
[Sure, he only thought of this because the hand is so new, but he's relieved he did; he'd not really expected to be left without resources for it, and something as simple as extra power cells would be easy to get back home.]
Audio
We've been able to power stuff from Earth here. We got quite a few geniuses here. [He would never be vain enough to consider himself one, but, he is.] You'll have to come to the Midnight Hotel. I'm kinda... limited in mobility at the moment.
Name's Vincent Moore.
Audio
But that's good to know, if you've already been able to do that. [That, at least, bodes well for him.]
I'll look up some directions and come over, unless you're busy with other things at the moment.
[Just because Vincent can't move doesn't mean he couldn't be doing something else, after all.]
Audio
And, nah, I'm not busy, mate. I'm a bit lacking for tools at the moment, but it doesn't stop me having a look.
Audio
[Luke wondered if that meant anything, but he wasn't really equipped to figure things like that out. Especially not right after arriving. Then he chuckled.]
All right. I'll come over, and hopefully not get lost on the way. How do I find you once I get there?
Re: Audio
[Because it only barely made sense to Vincent.]
I'll be in the Lounge in the Common area. You won't be able to miss me.
[Just look for the big Australian with a broken leg, Luke. You can't not see him.]
Audio
[He'd read a story or two that involved alternate realities, growing up, but of course that was supposed to be fiction. This place pretty much proved they'd have to be a reality though, didn't it?
Shrugging, Luke went off, and while he doesn't have a clue what an Australian might be, the broken leg, when he gets there, makes it pretty obvious it's the right person.]
Vincent Moore, right?
Action
That's me. [He offers a hand out to shake.] Luke, right? I didn't get your surname.
Action
Luke Skywalker. Thanks for this, by the way, [he grins wryly] even if we haven't even started yet. I never thought I'd have to worry about something as simple as the power source.
[Hopefully it'll turn out to be a simple fix to keep something in reserve, but he wouldn't really have had to go through the effort at all at home.]
Action
Luke Skywalker... where did he know that name from?]
This the hand? [He asks, looking down.]
Action
Of course, that cuts out a lot of the sensation, but he's gotten used to that too - he's been poking around it since it was properly attached.]
Think it could be duplicated or or replaced if it needed to be?
Action
He grunts, frowning, having not seen anything quite like it.]
I'll need to look into it a bit more, but I don't have any equipment right now. One sec.
[He picks up his phone, opens the Camera app and starts taking photos of the cell from every angle, rotating it around in his palm. It's better than nothing, and he's not going to let someone go without an arm until he can secure some kit.]
That'll have to do for now. [He holds out the cell to Luke.] I'll let you know if I can do something, but it might be a while. If you find someone else, let me know? I'd be interested to see how they do it.
Action
I'd let you keep it if the functions weren't as affected as they are, taking just one of them out. [Taking it back, he slots it back in with more practiced than true ease, smiling wryly.] But I can do that, at least. Or temporarily hand it over, whenever you have equipment... unless it means taking it completely apart.
And if you or someone else manages to duplicate it, maybe it'll be of use to more people, too.

[He shrugs.]
Or, at least, it'll make sure one guy gets to keep his hand. I'm fine with either outcome.

[Luke rubs his chin thoughtfully, then grins wryly.]
Selfishly, getting to keep my hand is pretty high on my list of priorities. Losing one once was more than enough.
[He pretends to not feel the awful little stab somewhere low in his stomach just mentioning that bring about and shrugs.]

I've known guys who've lost limbs before. I know what you mean.
I'll see what I can do, mate.
no subject
Thanks. It's nice not to have to rush and try to find alternatives myself.
