It would seem that the state between death, dreaming and life has more to be desired. The reason for our continued presence remains a mystery as we play the role of docile prisoners to this...Emperor. While others may seek contentment in their cage under the guise of routine and monotony, I must question one simple thing:

Tell me, fellow occupants, how long are we to be kept in the dark?

Surely none of the Kedan's guests were aware of the creatures lurking beneath the shadowed depths of Tu Vishan. A small, inconsequential thing, perhaps, to those who no longer have the fear of death instilled upon them, but the opportunity to prepare for such onslaughts was stolen from us. We are all strangers in a strange land, fellow outsiders, and it seems as if the Kedan are more than happy to maintain that relationship. A relationship that leaves us in a state of inaction.

Citizens, for that is what we should rightfully call ourselves here, it is time to find our voice.

I seek the services of a medical professional- preferably one with a hand in anesthesia. Chemists, would also be welcomed.

[Logan is not at all sure he's ready to be talking about the zombies yet. But he can try.]

Most didn't seem to know what was coming. I didn't see any preparations against the creatures when the dive began.

[...He'd have said yes, before. But something about the way the man asks unsettles him, makes him unsure. He was practically catatonic for most of the attack and an utter wreck for a week after it, wasn't he? Maybe his own memory could lie to him.]

[But he doesn't want to show that weakness, and he knows the doubt flickering across his face isn't visible with voice-only.]
As certain as any man could be. If there were such preparations, they weren't visible to me.

[Hngh. Even being told it's reliable, he's going to stew in anxiety for awhile now.] Is the Emperor in the habit of making such official statements at all?

this CR is going to be terrible for logan's blood pressure i can already tell

[He wouldn't have said so, but...is it? Obviously the Emperor has some PR problems, if this kind of thing is even being said in public. Logan, a king in his own realm, has some PR problems, and hardly a week goes by without another speech or public statement from him to the people, trying to reassure them. That's because he realizes public opinion matters, he cares, and he has good intentions. So maybe the Emperor is missing some combination of those three. Which no competent ruler possibly could be. (Although, there's also the possibility that one way or another, public opinion doesn't matter. Wow, what wouldn't he give for that to be true in his own kingdom.)]

I...suppose it is, yes.

logan should not be allowed to make his own friends

Of course. Public opinion is important to a ruler's effectiveness.

By public opinion, I mean the thoughts and feelings of the people. Anything the emperor issues would be termed an official statement. [Just to define terms clearly, here. Because what's happening right now is that a king, who is deeply paranoid of revolutionaries, is being pulled into a conversation about revolution.]

HE DOESN'T KNOW IF THAT'S REAL CHAINS OF DAISIES OR SOME TERRIFYING WEAPON

A point of contention: we don't know what the kedan think of their Emperor. They won't talk. Not to me, at least, nor anyone I've spoken to.

Perhaps the kedan do not rebel or speak because they are happy.

How else should it be expressed? People only speak when something is wrong.
