--oh, shoot. Just how do I work this contraption? I knew I should've asked for specific directions... Is it a phone? Or... something... huh?
[ The feed opens up to one confused looking Avatar with a hand paused mid-scratch at the side of her head. Blink blink. She straightens and attempts to clear her throat a bit, but even doing that does nothing to remove the slightly confused frown on her face. ]
So... Keeliai. [ how does i start conversation to people she isn't even sure she might be speaking to ] It's... a nice looking place, I guess. I have so many questions, but I think I should start off with...
What next? I mean, if anyone's got any helpful suggestions on how to deal with this place, I'd be all for it. Really!
[ Pause. ]
Uh-- oh, right! The name's Korra. It's nice to meet... whoever'll be answering this message. I hope. Ugh.
[ She's making a fool of herself, she knows it. ]

All right, do you know which Sector you're in? Um... Water has a lot of canals, all the buildings in Earth are carved out of sandstone... Fire has lots of fire fountains, Wood has a really beautiful forest, and Metal sort of feels like... well, something Lin might build.
[METAL HAS HUGE BUILDINGS AND EVERYTHING IS LOOMING AND IT'S TOTALLY LIN'S STYLE OKAY.]
Does any of that sound familiar?
There's another pause as Korra tries to pick up for any of those landmarks... Oh, hey there! ] The canals! I'm in the Water Sector!
And the carts are too wide to use anything but the main street...
[That's said under her breath. The Water Sector really only has one main street, the rest are narrow or split by canals, and she doubts Korra would have explored too far...]
Okay, I think I have an idea of where you might be. Don't... go anywhere, all right? I'll be there as soon as I can.
Korra holds up her hands in peace. ] I read you loud and clear, Asami. [ Meaning she'll try to be patient and not touch or destroy anything while you get here.
... but Korra might be curious to see if her bending is still intact within this place, so.
Sort of promising she'll be good? 8D ]
[action]
She has a motorcycle on loan from the garage she's been working for - even with all the recent problems with the kedan, he seems nice enough and didn't seem to have a problem with her borrowing the machine. They were built a little differently than the ones back home, but they were comparable and Asami found herself quite at ease riding them.
With the sectors so far apart, and given the nature of the traffic, it took her a good half-hour to actually get into the brightly coloured Water Sector at all, and from there she slowed the motorcycle as she wove around people and carts on the main street.
She's forced to a halt in the middle of the street, straddling her bike and trying to stand on her tip-toes to see what's causing the delay when she hears it. The telltale sounds of a bending demonstration.
Asami groans, cuts the engine to her bike and wheels it over to the sidewalk, where she parks it. From there she jogs back to the crowd, weaves her way through them and emerges in time to see Korra shifting to her Firebending stance. Asami lunges forward and grabs her by the wrist as Korra turns.]
Wow, what a great demonstration! Thanks for watching, everyone! Let's have a round of applause for the Water Tribe!
[And, under her breath,]
Come on, we're getting out of here.
[action]
Oh yeah.
Well, if Asami had let her into the firebending part of her demonstration. The hand on her wrist surprises her enough to stop and register who was brave enough to get close while she was in the middle of-- ]
Oh! Hey, Asami, you're finally--
[ Wait, she's done? And then when Asami says the last part, something tells Korra - maybe it's the other girl's tone - that she should probably listen this time. She gives a quick nod before Asami is probably pulling her away from the crowd, to which some of them even groaned in disappointment that her display was cut short. Still: ]
Uh, see you next time, folks! [ And then one Avatar is whisked away by an heiress. ]
[action]
Come on. I'll take you to my suite.
[action]
Is it that far away from here?
[action]
[She swings her leg over the motorcycle and gestures for Korra to hop on the back.]
We'll talk there, okay?
[Avatarmobile, AWAY!!]
[action]
ZOOM ZOOM.
And about a half hour passes by and Asami is slowing to a halt when Korra finds herself in the Fire Sector suite Asami was talking about. She's gonna hop off and hand Asami back the helmet with a grateful nod before looking around. ]
Wow. This place is definitely a lot more... rich looking than the Water Sector. [ Eloquent, Korra. ]
[action]
[This is the story of how she unlocks her front door and just straight-up wheels her bike inside. She wants to check it over okay!!! gosh it's not like she likes engines or anything.
Her suite is only one floor, but it's still large and very open. The decorating is sparse, but tasteful, and the ceilings are high, with open girders and support beams. Asami has cordoned off some of the living area to be an impromptu garage, and there are several engine bits laid out carefully on bits of old newspaper to prevent the oil from seeping through to the floor. Not far from that, she's set up a little gym.
BASICALLY: she's been busy in the eighteen days she's been here tyvm.]
Well. Welcome to my place. Would you like anything? I've got some iced tea in the fridge...
[action]
Have Korra awkwardly shuffling inside and standing just as awkward in her spot beside one of the chairs. ]
Iced tea sounds fine, sure. [ Is her almost quick reply. ] Looks like you kept yourself busy. [ Saying this in an attempt to make conversation in a conversational tone. She's learning! Maybe. ]
[action]
I didn't have much choice, really. It got kind of lonely here.
[She didn't like admitting it when she was alone, but with Korra-- it's already beginning to abate a little. Being the only one from her time was awkward.]
[action]
Yue did tell her people have been here for about two weeks or slightly longer. She kind of got the impression Asami stayed about the same amount of time, so... Going to put a hand on your shoulder, Asami, and plastering that confident grin Korra's
almostfamous for. ]Well, hey: since Mako and Bolin aren't here- [ It still stings, but she pushes on. ] -at the moment, you're gonna have to deal with me for the time being, Asami. I'll make enough noise for all of us that you won't even notice!
[ Because she is really glad someone from she knows (and from her timeline at that) is here. ]
[action]
I appreciate that, Korra.
[Best Avabro, okay.]
[action]
Hehe, no problem! [ She even raises her glass of iced tea in a sort of salute. ] Anyway, you said you were gonna explain some things?
[action]
[She hops up on a stool beside the kitchen's island, and spins it until she's facing Korra a little more directly.]
I was one of the first people here. Maybe even the first, I guess, because people were still arriving by the time I'd made it back to the city. I've been here for eighteen days. One of the first things the kedan did was throw a party, they kind of claimed it was in our honour - 'our' meaning the foreigners, people who've ended up here like you and me. But on the last day of the festival, two people - Princess Yue and another woman I haven't really spoken with - were dragged up on stage by a gang leader and threatened with public executions. The man ranted for a while about how we've been brought here to 'save' everyone and then the head of the police force here, Evandau, appeared and killed the gang leaders.
It was awful. It felt like-- it reminded me of Amon. A show of power in front of everyone like that... I'm not sure which was worse, the gang leader or the chief of police. I don't feel like we can trust anyone here. Not the Emperor, not the police... maybe other foreigners, if we're lucky.
[She exhales a little. That's most of the details she has so far, and she looks to Korra to see if the girl has any questions.]
[action]
Oh, damn. Korra hopes Asami didn't see her flinch at the mention of Amon. Her grip on her glass tightens slightly, but she quickly shakes that off. ]
So what's the plan? We can't just constantly live in some sort of... of fear in this place.
[action]
[She pauses, and then,]
In the meantime, I think we should try and forge an alliance with the other foreigners. We're all in the same boat here, and I'd rather we be as organized as possible. Especially if they're going to just attack us out of the blue.
[action]
Sounds like a smart idea. Like that old saying, uh... "Keep your friends close, and your enemies closer"? [ Hey, she can listen to all that philosophical/tactical stuff from time to time. Then she shrugs. ]
How about I go talk to this "Emperor"? I've got a few questions I'd like to ask. Anything you want me to pass along?
[action]
Something like that.
[Korra you're so cute when you're spouting philosophy!]
Korra... Why don't we just go together?
[They've proven that they're stronger in numbers, haven't they? That shouldn't change just because they're someplace new.]
[action]
[ Well, she'd want to keep her friend safe. Still not really trusting this place and going up against authoritative figures... well, Korra has sort of been getting that they always seem to have some sort of trump up their sleeve. ]
[action]
[Gosh, Korra.]
[action]
Okay, okay! Wanna head over there now? [ Pausing to drink the rest of her tea down. ] I kind of feel like I have to keep moving, you know? I still feel a bit... groggy for some reason.
[ After putting down her glass... stretching and flexing a bit! ]
[action]
[She sets her glass down as well.]
Yeah. Let's go. But, um... before we do--
Korra, what's the last thing you remember before you arrived here?
