video; one little time lord jumping on the bed
[ It's bright outside, as a disheveled man, looking a fair bit mad with his bow-tie askew, addresses the console cheerfully. ] Helloooo, citizens of the Tu Vishan! This is your captain speaking. Not really, but I do like the thought of being a captain, at some point. [ He winks. ]
I'm new, obviously, and it seems I'm not alone in that, so hello, fellow news, and good day, dearest olds — though I suppose whether the day is good or bad or simply so-so is entirely subjective. [ He sticks out his tongue briefly. ] Still, it tastes like an awfully good day, if you ask me, which you didn't; but it's a bit late to protest as I've already told you.
Anyway, I'm curious about some things, so let's skip pleasantries and go straight to queries, if you're so inclined. [ He holds up one finger. ] Thing one: where and when are you lot from? An approximation is fine. And don't worry about confusing me if it's complicated or timey-wimey shenanigans are involved. I happen to be rather quick on the uptake.
[ Two fingers up, like a peace sign. ] Thing two: flatmates. [ said as if it is the newest, most delicious word to ever be spoken. ] Apparently, I'll be lodging in WO-2B, so if you're also lodging in WO-2B, I am led to believe that makes us mates of the flat variety. In other words, lodgers, roomies, neighbors. etc. Which means we really ought to get together and chat a bit, maybe eat crisps, talk about girls — standard flatmate stuff. Yeaaaah. Flatmate stuff. Love a good flatmate, I do.
[ Three fingers and a grin so wide, it nearly splits his face. ] Thing three: great, big, sexy, blue box. I'm looking for her, and she's probably looking for me. Tangentially related, large-nosed Roman and shout-y ginger. May or may not be with the box; most definitely with each other. Probably kissing. [ kissing noises go here. ]
Oh, I'm the Doctor, by the by. Lovely to meet you all.

Oh, I'm the Doctor, by the by. Lovely to meet you all.
audio;
[He listens to the rest very carefully, nodding once or twice. He's still not sure what to make of this--space, he can understand, but time is another matter entirely, and certainly something he has never really thought about.]
I will look for your blue box, then. But if you are not mating with it, then why are you calling it sexy?
video;
[ his voice somehow brightens. ] Ah, thank you. I appreciate the help.
And I call her sexy because she likes it. [ simple as that. ]
audio;
Oh, I did not think boxes could be female, or sentient. [He is learning so many things today!]
video;
My friends are called Amy and Rory Pond. The Ponds, if you will. My box is called the TARDIS. You made your first mistake when you assumed she couldn't be anything else, if she was already a box. Anything can be and do anything; and the second you think it can't, it will.
video;
Well, I shall look for the Ponds; and in the meantime, I am looking for someone as well, so if you see an Englishman, about thirty, with golden hair, named William Laurence, pray tell me.
Oh, no, I should think she is rather more than a box, from the way you speak of her. Only I was a little surprised when you said she was female; is it rather like having a ship, which can think for itself?
video;
You got it in one. [ he snaps his fingers. ] She's as sentient as you or me, if not more so.
video;
Then it is rather like a captain who has lost his or her dragon, is it not? I understand perfectly now, and you can be sure I will look all the harder for it.
video;
[ please let there be dragons. pretty please. it's been so long since he's seen one. and they're so cool. ]
audio --> video
[A fumbling noise, and then there's a black dragon twice the size of a draft horse blinking uncertainly at the Doctor.]
Well, as you can see, I am a dragon, and at present I am not quite my normal size, and I am missing my captain and all my crew. Pray do not be alarmed.
video;
The Doctor beams at the scream, grin positively blinding. ]
Oh, you're brilliant. Beyond brilliant.
video;
Temeraire blinks back, surprised for a moment, before he cranes his neck to nose at an invisible speck of dust on his breastplate, trying and failing spectacularly to look unconcerned.] Do you really think so?
video;
Absolutely. [ and it's true. sentient dragons. simply wonderful, so very new, and beyond exciting. ]
video;
video;
video;
video;
we're not mainstream.] We're terribly unfriendly.video;
You do not seem very unfriendly to me.
