Greetings. If multiverse is the term used in your world for the infinite number of potential other worlds that may exist, then yes, I believe it is a bit more than that. I have not been here that long myself to investigate.

You cannot leave because of a barrier around the turtle that limits how far we can go.

I don't know anything about this multiverse of yours, but I'd guess that it's not. From what I understand of this world it is it's own world by itself and happens to have the technology to bring the souls of those from other worlds here.

Well from what I gathered--from being literally thrown through it--the multiverse is sort of the thing that holds everyone's universes together. But I could be wrong, so don't quote me on that.
